From DAVIDsTEA

We’re pretty strict about certain holiday traditions. Especially the delicious ones. So it should come as no surprise that we insist on sipping eggnog at every festive occasion. All things considered, it’s almost crazy that it took us thing long to find the perfect eggnog tea. But trust us, this rich and creamy rooibos blend was definitely worth the wait. With white chocolate, mini meringues and a hint of nutmeg, it’s a brand new tradition we can’t believe we ever went without.

Price: $8.50 per 50g

Why, tea, why? You smell so lovely, so creamy and rich! Why do you turn into a subpar cup of warm water when brewed up? Where did all those chocolate chips go? Argh.

I found I had to add more leaf :/

This tea is… weird…

I ended up with two of the stackable tins of this one as I bought one and dad got me one for Christmas. I’m glad I don’t have much of this one… it’s very strange. It tastes to me like rooibos and water. That’s about it. I’m not really getting the eggnog flavour that I was hoping for. And the almost like oil slick on the top from the melted white chips is weird.

As the tea cools I dislike it more. I’m getting some form of spice… I think it might be the nutmeg flavouring… I don’t know, but either way… I’m not enjoying this one at all.. It’s too bad ’cause I love eggnog.

I think I’m going to try the egg noggin’ from Steeped tea again and make sure I still like that one…

I see where you were coming from with this one, David, I really do. Nutmeg, nutmeg, some white chocolate, then some more nutmeg. The first sip was dat nutmeg, so you successfully made me associate this tea with eggnog with the snap of a finger.

But we’re talking about Scum Ring City here, which I was anticipating just merely looking at the white chocolate chips in here. For the love of… the liquor was so murky that I thought I was about to experience sewer water.

After about 1/4 of the way through my Nordic mug, there was no way I was going to be able to finish this on its own. So I grabbed that light egg nog out of my fridge like no one’s business and topped this freakshow off with it. Much better. It helped balance the oiliness and ultra sweetness from the melted white chocolate chips.

Never going back there.

Due to a mild egg intolerance, I can’t drink a lot of “real” eggnog (probably for the best though, considering how much sugar and calories there are per glass!). This is a nice tea substitute: I love making lattes out of it! It’s a nice treat for the holidays

I was on the fence with this one at the start, because I don’t like “regular” eggnog, but since this is December, I figured I’d give this one a go for my advent calendar (day #2!). I like the creaminess that the white chocolate is giving it, and I am all for spicy teas, but I don’t know about the whole addition of meringue powder. Which makes sense, considering this is eggnog, but I think I’ll stick to my eggs and egg products in scrambled form. All in all, though, a great concept, but this is just not the right blend for me. Nevertheless, I’m happy to have satisfied my curiosity.

Oh dear, I had so much hopes with that tea. But the nutmeg… The nutmeg. I don’t like nutmeg. I tolerate it, that’s it. I received the tea by mail when I came home for lunch, so I tried it in the afternoon at the office, just like that, in hot water. It was OKAY. I was so disappointed. I wanted to like that tea so much because it looked sooo appealing at first. Thus, I decided I had to try it with some milk. So, tonight, I’m trying it with milk. Oh, and cinnamon. To hide the nutmeg taste, you see. I must say I’m starting to like it. So, well, mission half-accomplished. I don’t believe I’m gonna buy it again, though ; I think I can recreate it my own way.

Another sample from the awesome girl in Canada!
So this one I had expected more of, and was sadly disappointed. :(
This doesn’t taste ANYTHING like egg nog. Not even the slightest
Della Terra’s Winter Nog tasted wayy more like egg nog than this :O
To me this one tastes more like white chocolate…kinda creamy and yet has that almost sour bite to it…Not a fan of this one. :( Bummer!
Oh well…least I tried it and didn’t waste my money buying it!

I hate eggnog, I don’t know why I bought this. Whatever, I guess it smells pretty good and it’s full of white chocolate.

Brewed at boiling for 8 minutes. It got really cloudy, probably from the white chocolate pieces.

It’s… Okay. Wouldn’t buy again, but not undrinkable.

Yay, another of my new David’s samples! I love eggnog, so I was pretty excited when I saw this is one of the holiday teas. When I opened the bag, I was shocked by how many white chocolate chips are in this blend! The picture is indeed accurate in that respect. The dry smell is quintessential eggnog. I admit that I made sure to stir a spoon around in my brew basket when the tea was done steeping, just to try to get all of that white chocolate to dissolve into the tea a bit.

I’m actually pretty underwhelmed by this tea. It comes off as quite bland to me. Yes, there is a strong nutmeg presence here, which is appropriate for eggnog. Other than that, all I really get out of this tea is creaminess. I feel like it’s unfair for me to expect more from this tea, as eggnog is so much about the thick and luscious texture, which can’t be replicated here. Overall, it’s just ho-hum.
