From DAVIDsTEA

Spring eternal

Legend has it that Li Ching-Yuen was born in China in 1677 and died 256 years later in New York. His secret? Goji berries. Your secret? This hot pink tea filled with sweet, sweet goji berries, rosehips, citrusy lemon oil, apple, melon, marigold and hibiscus. It’s probably the most delicious longevity formula ever. Which is key, since you’ll be popping it for the next two centuries. Caffeine-free.

Ingredients: Apple pieces, goji berries, hibiscus blossoms, rosehip peel, honeydew melon cubes, marigold petals. With artificial flavouring*.

This tea received the honour of being the first member of the DavidsTea spring collection to be brewed in my Breville.

Of all the ridiculously intriguing scents going on in my trial baggies of the spring teas, this one does stand out. I brewed this up for 6 minutes as I was worried about it being weak, but it came out a little tart so it will be maybe 4 or 5 minutes next time. Even the tartness wasn’t bad, though. It works with the kick-in-the-pants-refreshing nature of this tea. This was deliciously bold and fruity and tasted like summer. It’s begging to be made into iced tea and/or popsicles, but was also nice hot.

My only qualm with this tisane is that as with most of the herbals you need to use a fair amount of it. It being a heavy tea, it’s on the expensive side. Definitely worth it as a treat to remind myself that warmer weather will eventually arrive!

I will also confess to chewing on a couple pieces of the dried fruit. Tasty!

lol!
I agree the scents of the spring collection are particularly intriguing, many smell like bags of candies… or something alike.

nomadinjeopardy

I’m making Dreamsicle now. I spent way too long sniffing the teas trying to figure out which to make next. I eventually had to look away and grab a bag at random!

That’s the first one I tried, earlier today! It’s yummy, but be careful not to oversteep it as it can get bitter at some point

What the? Sipdown? I thought I’d have this tea perma stashed.

But it was my last iced tea batch, barely. There’s 1/4tsp of strawberry rhubarb parfait in there. Lots of dusty bits that got steeped – yum, bottom of tin bits!

Very melony for my last iced teas! I made this with both german sugar and a little honey – very tasty! This tea will be missed, or restocked next time I do a DT order. Not sure when that’s gonna be, I already asked my dad to buy me teaware I wanted from the spring collection!

Upping the rating. Had a travel mug full this morning to start my work day. The sweetness of the fruits and berries mixed with the tart hibiscus is making my mouth dance. I think of it more as a summer tea than a spring tea, but that’s semantics. Mostly I just think of it as a delicious delight.

I don’t know anything about goji berries, but there is one really sweet juicy flavour, that I assume must be goji, since I don’t remember having it in any other tea. My only qualm with this tea is that it’s quite heavy, and therefore on the more expensive side. For now, it’s a lovely treat, and likely to be cycled with my regulars for take to work tisanes.

Thanks for the sample of this, Krystaleyn!

I decided to cold steep this so I’d actually be okay with the tartness of it. I steeped it for well over a day because I completely forgot I hadn’t taken the T-sac out of there. No harm done! This is a nice combination of tart, sweet, and fruit flavors. I like what the lemon adds. It’s also in the tart territory, but because it’s citrus, it’s not as bad to me as hibiscus. I think this would be awesome mixed with lemonade because of the lemon.

Maybe it doesn’t even need lemonade.

I’m going to try the rest of it hot. In the future maybe I will get it to cold steep again, but it’s not a high priority right now, besides the fact I just ordered from DavidsTea and it shipped out today.

Bonnie

I like goji berries!

Kittenna

I can’t recall what I thought of this one cold-steeped… I’m just so obsessed with Tropicalia (which I received my 210g of today!!)

momo

I ordered 150g based on everyone’s reviews and I can’t wait to get it. I just wish I remembered Monday is a holiday, I hope it still takes only a week!

Another sample that I don’t know where it came from. Bad tattoed, bad. Apologies!

Why oh why did I wait so long to try this? It is so good. By the time I drank it it had reached room temp & now it is pretty cold.
At room temp this was very good, fruity, juicy. & melon like. So yummy. Even colder now it’s better. Definitely one that would be fabulous iced this summer by the pool ( maybe with a touchof vodka…. shhhh)

Also a great alternative to juice for the kids.

ETA: My daughter downed the rest of the mug. Guess it is a good one!

Another one I’m just now trying from Courtney! Thanks again! Two teaspoons after a few minutes steeping, and I really only get hibiscus flavored water. And very weak at that. Not like I’d rather have MORE hibiscus. The steep color is bubblegum pink. There was some other fruit, but not much to make a difference. Nice ingredients, just not enough to make a difference. Ah well, I’m willing to try any tea. I guess this is my least favorite from David’s. They get an E for effort though, since I like the list of ingredients.

Courtney

Aww sorry! I didn’t like this one until I tried it cold actually.

tea-sipper

But I loved all the others you sent! :D I might try what is left of it cold then. thanks again for that package!

MsWhatsit

A lot of people don’t like hibiscus. I haven’t sampled enough teas to be able to recognize it yet.

I only bought a 10 gram sample of this tea, and it was just enough to make a small cup. It actually tastes like it could use more of the blend. I probably should have gotten 15grams, but I didn’t realize how heavy this mix was. Oh well, it’s not bad even as it is. It’s sweet and fruity with a slight tartness, like an apple. Now that I look at the ingredients and I see that apple is the first ingredient that absolutely makes sense. The fresh fruitiness reminds me a little of Davids Tea Indian Summer, but their ingredients aren’t overly similar, so I’m probably remembering incorrectly.

I imagine this would taste even better iced?

Overall, this is a decent tea, but it doesn’t capture my heart enough for me to keep stocked in my cupboard.

Nxtdoor

I only ever drink Goji Pop iced. I’ve already restocked 100 grams twice. In this household It is our favourite tea to have iced so far. Now that’s not saying much, we’ve only tried the iced tropicalia, pink flamingo, Kokomo green and mango madness but goji pop is so far our go to iced.

Aimee Popovacki

yeah I do not like this one hot very much.. I find it wayyy tooo tart.. but iced.. its fantastic.

canadianadia

Hmmm…I’m convinced. It looks like I’ll have to give it a go iced some time

The tea itself looks like a snack, but of all of the new teas in David’s Tea’s spring line-up, this is the one that made me go “Mmm” when I smelled it. It smells like hubba bubba bubble gum and makes me want to go put on boots and play in puddles. (Maybe this really IS the fountain of youth!)
When it’s steeping, it’s turning a very pale almost dusty pink colour and smells no less amazing. I want to buy fabric this colour and make accent pillows and drapes for my daughter’s new bedroom. I also want her room to smell this good and sunshiney. It goes well with her illustrated print reading, “Let’s Have Fun Today!”
Well, Goji Pop*, let’s do this.
Let’s have fun, naked-style**.
OOoooOOooooh. Mellow! The melon really pops out, and the sweetness hits the roof of my mouth like a delicious summertime popcicle treat. The “pop” in Goji Pop, perhaps! I feel like I’m sitting in the grass, shaded in a mottled pattern by our enormous weeping birch. I’m barefoot, freshly un-flip-flopped and enjoying iced treats with my daughter after we chased down an ice cream truck. There’s enough of a breeze to keep the bugs off, but it wouldn’t matter anyway because it’s such a beautiful day.
Back to the tea: I can’t get over how delicious it is. It’s exactly what I had wanted Luscious Watermelon to taste like last summer. I’m going to brew a batch of this double-strong and make popcicles out of it. Or at least try it iced. I’m very lazy after all.
Thank you, David’s Tea, for reminding me that spring will happen, even though there’s a meter and a half of snow in my back yard and it’s -12.

*I’m currently deep into the last season of Big Love. The third sister wife is selling a product called Goji Juice. It’s more or less a multi-level marketing scam, but whatever. This last season is epic and extraordinarily tragic for television. Anyway, every time I hear Goji, I’m overcome with an unobstructed sadness. Luckily, the smell of Goji (sad) Pop surmounts that sadness and makes the sun come out.

**You wish. Naked as in no milk or sugar, of course.

This is definitely one better to have cold in my opinion. It was alright hot, but nothing special.

One day on a whim, I asked David’s to make me whatever they wanted and I got a cold Goji Pop. It changed my view on this tea for sure.

So of course, when I was out yesterday getting tea for a friend I picked some of this up for myself and stuck a mason jar full in the fridge overnight to cold brew. It has an almost lemonade-like bitterness to it chilled, but it works so well!

Made this one as a cold brew. I know I have read it in someone else’s tasting note, but you sure don’t get a lot of tea in 50g of this one.

I cold brewed this one for about 7 hours.

This tea smells herbally sweet and tart at the same time, slightly like ripe apples. This tea brews up a light pink. I could have left it in longer but I was ready to drink it now. I wouldn’t have left it for much longer than a few more hours as I think it would get too tart. The tea tastes like apples, a bit citrousy, there is not necessarily a goji berry taste but it does have the same kind of tartness that goji berries have. Kind of a gentle candy-like taste. There is a slight smooth rose flavour in the aftertaste. The aftertaste lingers for a long time and is also kind of tart. I added a tsp of whit sugar and it sweetened it just enough. This is one of those teas that tastes like juice.
