What makes this tea special for me is the quality of the coconut flavor, it’s so smooth and clean! So often coconut flavoring ends up taking artificial or generic, like a premixed smoothie or chewing gum. Even some of the better teas I’ve tasted that included shredded coconut have tasted a bit stale. Not this tea however, it’s quite fresh and lovely! I also love that Rooibos is given room to come through, and it’s a tasty Rooibos at that. I’m not sure that the pie side comes through for me, but it is a great creamy coconut tea!

Its been a while since I had a cup of this, but I have sent the last of it off, so I wanted to record my thoughts. The flavors in this didn’t quite do it for me. I remember the tea being pretty heavy on the rooibos and light on flavor. I wanted more out of this. I am also finding that coconut and tea for me, might not be my favorite combination. I am glad that I got to try this one. I am also glad I have been able to pass this along to some folks that will enjoy it much more than I.

I have always liked coconut things, whether is was and Almond Joy or a homemade coconut creme pie. With that said, I was happy to take my first sip of this tea and really like it. I did doctor it up like I would a good chai tea and that just made the creaminess of this tea come out even more. I may have to buy this tea once my sample is gone.

Maybe I’m a weirdo but sometimes steeped (dried) coconut tastes slightly soapy to me and for that reason, I’m usually not a fan of most coconut teas. Since I’ve been pleasantly surprised by all of Butiki’s teas that I’ve sampled, I wanted to give this one a try. It’s spot on! With a pinch of sugar and dash of cream, it reminds me coconut cream pie yogurt. Mmm… tasty.

EveInOrbit

Courtney they’re so good. I wish that there was a personal “favorites” list.

Suziqzer I’m tracking your yums… adding them to my samples-to-share list. ;-P

Lol.. Ok. I haven’t had many tasting notes recently due to this stinking head cold! … But I’ll be watching. ;)

Lol.. Ok. I haven’t had many tasting notes recently due to this stinking head cold! … But I’ll be watching. ;)You changed your name.. Is the explanation in the username thread? Just curious about it. I wish I had been more creative with mine.

EveInOrbit

It is in the discussion thread but its not very interesting. :-P I just though “Eva” was too short so added my middle name. I like your handle!
I hate head colds, wishing you a quick recovery!

Suziqzer

I wouldn’t have guessed that as your middle name … :)

thanks for the well wishes! I can faintly taste things today.. which feels good.

I had totally forgotten that VariaTEA had sent me such a large amount of this blend, so when I was looking through my sample drawer in the kitchen for some much needed caffeine free blends to offset all the caffeinated teas I’ve had today I was really pleasantly surprised to find such a large amount of this one!

I should really be working towards more sipdowns; but I couldn’t resist. I brewed myself up a cup of this, and I am so pleased I still find it as delicious as remembered. I really love that the coconut in this is so creamy and thick feeling, and I like that the woodiness of the rooibos somehow translates into a graham pie crust type thing. This one feels like it should have a whipped cream pillow and maraschino cherry on top. Something sweet, indulgent, and fun!

Anyway, after sorting through the sample drawer I’ve dredged up more roobios blends to have tomorrow; blends which had sunk to the bottom of the giant pile or been pushed to the back of the drawer – so I’m excited to work some new teas into tomorrow’s line up! It really feels like, lately, I’ve had a bit of a rooibos/herbal tea shortage…

I’ve also noticed lately that I don’t have a lot of caffeine-free blends to sip in the evenings. Any particular recommendations?

Sil

what sorts of things are you looking for christina? flavour wise?

Christina / BooksandTea

Looking through my wishlist, I’m seeing a lot of rooibos/honeybush blends, many of which contain fruit or caramel flavours. I’m also interested in trying some floral herbals like linden or elderflower/elderberry, since I sometimes enjoy elderflower soda.

Sil

River tea has decent fruit blends….verdant has an elderberry herbal as well. As a couple others….Della terra has nice rooibos blends of heathy creamier variety

Sil

That is of the…. Not heathy lol

Christina / BooksandTea

Oh dear. I checked out Verdant’s site and realized that they actually do offer free shipping to Canada if the order is large enough. I always thought that they had really outrageous shipping charges like Golden Moon did. Now that I realize they’re more feasible, this could be very very dangerous…

First, I have to thank Stacy of Butiki for sending me this sample! I really liked this rooibos. It was very light in the flavor department. The most amazing thing about it was how well the crusty and flaky flavors of creme pie came through on this. I was really surprised at how the creme flavor came through as well. The coconut isn’t as strong as the other flavors, but just as well! I would love a nice, large bag of this!
Also, I really liked that there was no feeling of dry mouth/throat after drinking this.
