Iced Tea Sipdown (227)

S is for…Strawberry Sparkling Wine

Check out the tasting note for the NecessiTea’s Strawberry Rose Champagne, which I also had today to compare to this one, here: https://steepster.com/rachel12610/posts/418162

Strawberry Sparkling Wine leans more into the wine side of things than Strawberry Rose Champagne. It’s not as sweet as Strawberry Rose Champagne. It is also flatter than Strawberry Rose Champagne in the sense of an effervescence that both teas manage to have to sell the “sparkling” aspect. This has strawberry flavour as well but its not as sweet and more closely reminiscent of the fruit than candy/jam. I doubt I would have noticed the difference not having them side by side since they are similar but this is definitely more subtle/less sweet.

I made this and Strawberry Sparkling Wine by Tea Please iced. I think they are the same tea so I wanted to try them side by side. Things got hectic and those iced teas were made hours ago and were sitting out in a cool room. I am trying them now though. This take on it leans more heavily into the strawberry I think. It is sweeter and almost jammy with an effervescence that says champagne at the end of the sip. It’s actually like a strawberry gummy flavour given the sweetness I am getting.

Thank you Roswell Strange for the share! It was super hectic around dinner because my nephew has discovered screaming and likes to just do that now. Plus he was fussy. My sister had her hands full with something else and my brother-in-law is at the firehall. I have an exam in the morning but I had to step in so enjoying this cup of tea while studying became quickly chugging it before dinner. Thankfully there is more so I can actually try it at a less fussy time.

Made this one as a latte. It’s nothing special but its named for Captain America (the original, not John Walker) so it makes me happy. Also marshmallows and sprinkles!

I got excited when I saw this tea name haha.

Thank you Sil for the share!

This tea is an interesting one. Sil found it flavorless but at 4 mins, I am definitely getting a fair bit of flavor. It is smooth and has a fair bit of date notes. Dates, raisins, and a touch of smoke which seems like it shouldn’t be a thing but is.

Sil

glad you got more out of it heh

I cold brewed this and it was just a lot of berry hibiscus. Sort of like Bear Trap by DAVIDsTEA but not as good in my opinion.

S is for…Summer Days

I made this cold brew to have last night but am drinking it now. My motivation to do anything is so low. I set an alarm to wake up around 10 and try to flip my schedule to slightly more normal hours before my 9 am exam tomorrow. I did wake up at 10, then tried to do a shipping request for my bar study materials but the law society website doesn’t seem to want to do anything either and just keeps timing out. It’s basically 2 pm and I am still in bed and have basically watched TikToks and fought with the site.

I feel like I have had a lot of creamsicle teas lately. Not sure why that is. This is yet again that flavor profile but like so many others, it has a medicinal quality to it. Like someone rolled the creamsicle in some EmergenC.

Been feeling the same way lately. Hang in there!

Last night I had a touch of a sore throat so I wanted something warm. I broke open this sample for the menthol aspect and just because its a nice sick tea when you don’t feel great. I decided to finish it off tonight though just to get it out of my stash.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
