Thank you for sharing this one with me, Sil!

Also hi steepster! I miss you a lot. My exam is next Friday and then I have July off before starting work in August. I have fun plans like reading my many new books, learning an instrument and a language, but tea will be a lot more apart of my life again so I’ll be back here too!

Today I literally made tea for the caffeine. I’m at the tax law part of my material and in addition to it basically being a different language despite looking like English, it made me super sleepy yesterday. So I am procrastinating getting back into it today and also arming myself with tea.

I picked this one because I wanted a strawberry black tea to go with my strawberry (/raspberry) tart breakfast bowl. The bowl was delicious. This tea isn’t bad. However, unlike the Tea Girl’s vanilla flavor – which is super strong and lovely – this tea is rather bland. Mostly just a fruit black tea. Not bad but nothing special either. Still fun to try though!

Made this as a latte and it never quite stands up to my expectations. I think I expect more smoke than this tends to deliver. Instead the coconut and other sweet components take over. It’s good but not quite to my expectations.

First tea in a long while. Bar studying is kicking my butt so tea drinking hasn’t been a thing. The second (and last) exam is on the 25th so just a little while longer…

tea-sipper

Oh I was just wondering if you dove into that pile of books you bought, but maybe after the exam. Good luck!

VariaTEA

That’s the plan. Today’s managed to get on top of things and so I took time for tea and am now watching Cruella. Tomorrow is back to the grind.

Michelle

Hang in there on the studying, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Sipdown (198)

My first bar exam is on Tuesday and I don’t think I had any tea this week. I barely even had the amount of water I should each day. I’ve just been busy with studying. Also I found myself on Booktok and got back into reading and ordered almost 35 books…and a book cart, and book marks, and a batarang page holder. Also a ukulele to learn post bar exams. That said, the month is nearing an end and I noticed I had 11 sipdowns and that drove me a bit nuts so I snuck in this Sipdown.

I was expecting Forever Nuts and while it’s similar, I like this better. It’s more honey and less nutty in flavour, which is my preference. It also is giving me Rose vibes as well. Don’t know why but it’s like a honey and Rose water version of Forever Nuts. Nice but not something I need more of.

I think that says you “ordered” 35 books? And if so, YAYYY. haha

VariaTEA

Fixed it! Thank you! And yep, I’m very excited haha. Yesterday my order from bookoutlet.ca of 18 books showed up!

Ooh I hope you’ll share some of your favorites as you go along!

I saw your post on Instagram and I’ll be curious to hear what you think of the series by Sarah J. Maas. I’ve really liked both of her book series.

VariaTEA

I finished A Court of Thorns and Roses this morning. I liked it. I’m now reading the Hating Game as a break and will then start the second in the ACOTAR series.

Iced Latte Sipdown

I thought this tea would be perfect for a late night iced latte with some caramel syrup. It’s not bad but its also mostly just rooibos. So alright but not something I need again and probably wouldn’t be great plain/without the added caramel.

I had this twice over the past few days – once as a cold brew and once as an iced tea. I was surprised at how much banana came through. Otherwise it was just a generic fruit punch sort of tea.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
