Vanilla Sweet Cream Latte Sipdown (216)

This with the vanilla sweet cream is perfection. It actually tastes like fresh homemade banana bread. Like the bread made with perfectly overripe and sweet bananas. Scary accurate and very tasty. I don’t know if it’s the tea or the sweet cream responsible but this cup is on point.

That sounds so good! Reminds me of how my childhood Coldstone order was always the banana ice cream and sweet cream ice cream.

drank Peppermint Patty by Dessert by Deb

I had Roswell Strange randomly pick a tea for me today. Then discovered I had 2 subscription boxes show up today – one being the Dessert by Deb box. So its fitting I am having a previously unopened Deb tea tonight.

This tea I grabbed because I love Mint Chip Cookie as an iced latte. I think I will have to try this the same way because it’s just okay as a plain tea. The mint is stronger and more medicinal than I would like. There is a hint of dark chocolate, which at times gives a peppermint patty vibe, but mostly with the medicinal mint it is coming off a little muddied. I will need to revisit this as a latte and see if that helps.

I made a latte using the salted caramel sweet cream last night and it was so good I made another today. There are so few drinks I want to drink again and again but I think I have blown through like 3-4 50 gram bags of this now.

I don’t like this one. It doesn’t hold up at all to DAVIDsTEA’s cold tea. I blame the lemon and stevia with a hint of cinnamon. It’s just not ideal.

Sipdown (205)

First day of the month and first sipdown of the month.

If I am being honest, I actually opened my drawer intent on grabbing a different 52 Teas blend but then couldn’t find scissors to open the new package. So I grabbed a different 52 Teas blend blindly and pulled this out. I started measuring out the leaf only to quickly realize I had only a serving left.

I am going to miss this tasty marshmallow tea. Radioactive Marshmallow arrived in one of the sub boxes Roswell Strange gifted me for my birthday and I am hoping that will fill the void of this tea’s absence. This is just crazy smooth and light with a lovely soft vanilla flavor. I love it!

Salted Caramel Sweet Cream Cold Foam Sipdown (206)

Thank you Sil for sharing this with me. I decided to make a small latte with the sample and topped it with my salted caramel sweet cream cold foam. If I’m being honest, I don’t think that was the best pairing. The tea muted a bit of the salted caramel flavour so it was a lot of cream and custard/cinnamon. Overall it was a nice evening treat though. I just wish I was more into French toast/pancake teas than I have been lately.

Thank you Roswell Strange for sending this my way. I really enjoyed it while it lasted. This last cup was a lot more cinnamon than I’d like but it was still nice.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
