Matcha Latte Sipdown (200)

Thank you Roswell Strange for sending this one my way! It was one I was most excited for among the Three 6 Tea options so I held back on having it first. However, it seemed like a good one for today.

Three 6 Tea has a distinct caramel flavor which is very buttery. White chocolate it also buttery. So this is super buttery and sweet. It makes me think of the caramel popcorn matcha that Red Leaf Tea used to make, which is nice since I really enjoyed that. It is a little on the sweeter side for my tastes though and so I don’t know if I would buy this again. It’s got a smooth texture though and if you want a sweet caramel corn drink, this could be a good option.

Salted Caramel Sweet Cream Cold Foam Latte Sipdown (201)

E is for…Earl Grey Citrus Black Tea and you can check out my “E” teas here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CRNIMfkBjg9/?utm_medium=copy_link

This latte is really good. It actually tastes like a nut brittle with so much caramel notes and a roastiness that is rich and nutty. I think it’s my sweet cream I have to thank for that though. The Earl Grey adds a nice counterpoint to the sweet caramel though so overall I’m happy with this.

E is for…Everyone Loves a Yule Ball

Coffee and cinnamon is strong here and it’s the sweet cinnamon and I’m not loving it. Not liking it at all tbh. It’s just too sweet and I don’t really like coffee and get that.

E is for…Elegant Affair

Got my 2nd covid dose two days ago and it’s kicked my butt a little bit. I am starting to feel better though so I’m back to tea and my alphabet drinking. This tea I tossed into my swap box because it’s a black/white blend which I don’t care for. It’s also floral and has some bergamot I think. It’s fine but too floral and a touch drying.

Glad you’re feeling better! (but Happy Vaccine! haha)

ashmanra

Glad you got it! Glad you are feeling better!

Leafhopper

I’m glad you’re feeling better! That second dose also kicked my butt a bit.

VariaTEA

I am so happy to have it, even if I did have a reaction. Small price to pay for the benefit of being vaccinated!

Martin Bednář

Glad that you got second vaccine! If a few days feeling worse is price for being vaccinated, I feel it’s a great deal!

D is for…Darjeeling Premium Spring Black Tea and a battle with another Vahdam Darjeeling. Check out the note for that tea here: https://steepster.com/rachel12610/posts/420682

This one steeped up lighter and while it’s a bit better quality than the other in that it’s slightly less drying, it’s still more floral than I like. So this tea wins the battle but I don’t care for either very much.

D is for…Daily Darjeeling Summer Black Tea and a small Darjeeling battle with another Vahdam Darjeeling. Check out the note for that tea here: https://steepster.com/rachel12610/posts/420683

This steeped up darker than the other Darjeeling. It’s brisk and dry without being astringent. It has what I would call a classic Darjeeling profile, being muscatel and floral, and that’s not a profile I vibe with often. That means I don’t really care much for this one.

Deadpool tea in a unicorn mug seemed right.

The tea is just meh though if I’m being honest. It’s mostly just cinnamon and not much else. Also a bit bland. I wanted to like it because I like the name but mostly I’m just bored.

Late start to my day but this is my cold brew I prepped last night.

It was part of the sub box that Roswell Strange gifted me so thank you!!

This tea I’ve had once before but it was late and I was sleepy and didn’t write a note. Today, I’m enjoying this because of the vanilla and strawberry. I’m not loving the chamomile. However, while usually the chamomile tends to ruin things for me, it doesn’t here. I don’t mind this but it won’t be a restock when I finish.

C is for…Crisp Cranberry Soda

I cold brewed this. There was so many cranberries in the bag and that’s coming through in flavour. Also they made for super pretty “leaf”.

This was a tea I’ve enjoyed so far but being a green tea, not one I reached for often so I’m content saying goodbye. This last cup isn’t as good as the others though and I’m blaming the broken green tea bits at the bottom of the bag making this a little grassier than usual. That’s unavoidable though and not particularly the tea’s fault. Aside from that, I like the cinnamon and this is a bit cake-y. It’s also generically fruity today which is fine but nothing special.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
