Round 2 of battles is this tea, Radioactive Marshmallow vs. Honey Black by DAVIDsTEA. The two were paired because of their black tea bases being paired with a sweeter flavour note. Check you the review for Honey Black here: https://steepster.com/teas/davidstea/69877-honey-black?post=422988
We all know I love me some marshmallow black teas from 52 Teas. This is no exception. It is nothing super complicated. It is clear marshmallow flavour – sweet and fluffy. Atop a medium-bodied base. The two pair well together, making for a smooth, easy drinking tea. Really, really nice!
Honey black is similarly simple and smooth but this tea just edged its way to the win by highlighting flavour over base. Plus, I tend to grab marshmallow teas more often than honey.
Round 1 of my mini tournament is this tea against Blueberry Buttermilk Short Stack Pancakes. Check out the tasting note for Blueberry Buttermilk Short Stack Pancakes here: https://steepster.com/teas/dessert-by-deb/96788-blueberry-buttermilk-short-stack-pancakes?post=422970
Both teas cooled slightly by the time I got to drinking them. Also, neither was as sweet as I expected. This one I know is typically sweeter but there was less sprinkles and marshmallows in the filter this time. That, or my tastebuds are slightly off. Could go either way.
Despite the lack of sweetness and this being a touch flat without it since there also isn’t a lot of ginger in this cup, I think this edged out Blueberry Buttermilk Short Stack Pancakes for the win. That tea has a briskness that I really don’t love. So I’ll take flat and fruity over brisk and fruity. And fruity this ism with citrus and kiwi notes today.
I’m doing another mini tournament! Just 8 teas.
First up: This tea, Blueberry Buttermilk Short Stack Pancakes vs. Unicorn Fluff by the NecessiTeas. You can check out the tasting note for that here: https://steepster.com/teas/the-necessiteas/93051-unicorn-fluff?post=422971
This is my first time having this tea and it has the pancake thing going against it since I am off that flavor right now. That said, it isn’t overly pancake tasting to me. It has cooled slightly so perhaps that has something to do with it but I am getting a very dark blueberry flavor. Not much sweetness at all. Just strong/brisk black tea base, and some blueberry – true to the berry itself, though a not very sweet berry. Also as I kept drinking I got something that was almost cinnamon-like, which isn’t meant to be here. I am wondering if that is something I am getting from the base tea?
I also have to say it may be my tastebuds that are off today because Unicorn Fluff also doesn’t have much sweetness, and it usually has more. Nevertheless, I think the briskness lost it for this tea in my opinion. I am just not a fan of that, but for those that don’t mind it, this could be a fun take on a “breakfast” tea.

Finally done the alphabet – which took me forever this time. I blame work!
Last time I said this tasted like a cinnamon roll but today it’s not as sweet and thus giving me cinnamon raisin bread vibes.
