Made this as an iced latte with some brown sugar cinnamon syrup. Didn’t realize how heavy handed I was with the syrup pour because it completely took over and tasted really slick. This iced latte got dumped :(

I have to say this one is never as strongly root beer as I want. I get a lot from the honeybush base and that takes away from the tea as a whole. I think Butterbeer reads more root beer to me than this if I remember correctly.

Iced Latte Sipdown (207)

When I went downstairs today, I really wanted to order Starbucks for my iced chai latte with cold foam. Then I remembered I decided to do another battle in my mini tournament and started posting about it. Also, I could make an iced latte and save the money. So I made the tournament teas. Then I got distracted by life. It was 10 something by the time I decided to make the latte. Then I got distracted again and am only drinking it now.

I grabbed this tea because when I opened the drawer, it was the one in a ziploc bag (the seal broke) and that caught my eye. I figured it would work as an iced latte but remember this always being a bit thin flavourwise so I decided to give it a boost with a touch of brown sugar cinnamon syrup. It definitely helped a great deal. Gave it a lot more oomph behind the flavouring. That said, this makes me think of DAVIDsTEA’s Pumpkin Chai, as opposed to pumpkin or snickerdoodle. It had such potential but never quite lived up to it.

This tea, Radioactive Marshmallow vs Chocomint by Palais des Thes. Check out the tasting note for Chocomint here: https://steepster.com/rachel12610/posts/423474

Simple but delicious. Clear marshmallow but it’s not overly sweet and it doesn’t drown out the black base. I was excited for this one which is why I knew it was going to win before I even really made either tea. Chocomint is lovely today but this is sweet and fluffy and smooth and delicious and a great example of Anne’s mastery of some flavours.

Second round of my mini tournament is underway. The options were either two caffeine free teas or two caffeinated teas and Roswell Strange suggested caffeinated made more sense for Sunday morning. Granted, I asked her hours ago but stuck with the caffeinated teas anyways. So it’s this tea, Chocomint vs Radioactive Marshmallow by 52 Teas. I do think I know which is winning even before drinking but…

The chocolate flavour is more cocoa powder and a lot stronger than it was last time. This is cocoa forward today with lingering mint. Costco sold a pack of fancy hot chocolates years ago. I feel like they were maybe Starbucks brand but maybe not and this reminds me of the mint hot chocolate but made in water so it’s on the thinner side.

It’s good today…unfortunately it’s up against a tea that is also really good and will just always appeal to me more. Check out the tasting note for Radioactive Marshmallow here: https://steepster.com/rachel12610/posts/423475

I know here in the U.S. I remember Costco carrying the Land O Lakes flavored hot cocoa packets. I used to love those!

VariaTEA

This was years ago in Canada. I don’t think it was Land O Lakes and I think now they sell Carnation but I am pretty sure in the past it was either Starbucks or Laura Secord or something I remember thinking was fancy lol

Ooh I love those Land-o-Lakes cocoa packets in the winter!

drank Sticky Toffee Pudding by Pudtea

Latte Sipdown (208)

This week has been crazy hectic. I felt like I wanted a latte several times but just didn’t have it in me to make it. Yesterday I left the office late to go for dinner and finally have a drink after a long week…and I did…and then I returned to the office at 7 pm. Fun times.

However, I took today off and finally decided to make the latte. This caught my eye and it’s a Sipdown so yay! I topped it with chai sprinkles and am having it in my cozy fox mug for all the cozy fall vibes.

This tastes so familiar. I have no idea what it’s reminding me of. Not sticky toffee pudding but something sweet and cinnamony and very familiar. This is bugging me…

Latte Sipdown (209)

Thank you Sil for sharing but this wasn’t for me. Made it as a latte but it was still overly grassy and drying from the floral notes. I do get a nutty top note but it plays into the grass. I don’t like it.

Sil

i think this was one i didn’t even try haha

You just gave me a full sample. You didn’t miss out on much.

Got this as a sample in one of my DAVIDsTEA orders. Today I needed a tea bag tea for a #cuppateaathon prompt (which ends today) and it was this or another tea. Figured I’d finish this off.

It’s fine but as someone who doesn’t care much for Jasmine, it’s just not for me. One of the better Jasmine teas but still a Jasmine tea.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
