I am bingeing the new Netflix Halloween series, Daybreak, and randomly thought about the 52 Teas Christmas teas from last year. This one specifically. I have no idea how one thing so clearly connected to Halloween triggered the craving for a Christmas tea but here we are.

The tea is simultaneously quite good but also quite subtle flavorwise (despite two large blackberries being in the filter). Perhaps it is age? I like what I am tasting but I just wish I was tasting more because I get the base and some faint blackberry. Maybe a hint of pastry. Mostly it is just warm.

This tea is never really great but for some reason always sucks me in. I bought 50 grams my last order and am now having it as a latte. My McDonalds milk frothed which means my frother is not broken. However, this is milk and muddied/spiced chocolate and not an awesome latte, regardless of the frothiness.

I cold brewed this and it tastes like watermelon that somehow seamlessly transitions to the white tea base. I both really enjoy it and don’t love it at the same time. Actually, the more I drink, the more I get soapy white tea. So, not my fave.

Cold Brew Sipdown (226)

On Saturday I went to visit my friends in Waterloo which meant getting on a train that left London at 7:30 am. I made this as a cold brew so I would have caffeine for my long day of stuff. Then I ended up forgetting it so I took it to school with me today.

This is kind of weird because while it is good and tastes sort of like banana, it also tastes sort of like green apple. Not clue why I am getting apple since the tumbler has never even been used before. So strange.

Had this the other day when I was staying over at my friend’s place. I just had a small teacup and it was alright. Floral. Nothing special.

I prefer this one iced in the summer!

Mermaid matcha in McDonalds milk. Still tastes deliciously like vanilla cake icing. Yum.

Sipdown (226)

I cold brewed this for like 9 hours and I actually really like it. It has a lot of the sweet tropical fruit flavors but none of the waxiness. Also, nice flavor from the hibiscus without it taking over.

The wine in this tea smelled soooooo strongly while I was steeping. Now I am sipping on it and very much like my previous experience a couple years ago, I am definitely getting a grape/muscatel/white wine sort of vibe. The apple is also present but mellow (could be age). It is nice but also not exactly to my tastes.

Roswell Strange, do you want more of this one since I am sending a package to you anyways? Otherwise, I will give it to a friend here at school :P.

Latte Sipdown (227)

So this wasn’t so much a sipdown as it was a dump down. It wasn’t the tea’s fault. I blame my milk. It is old but not passed the expiry date but I don’t 100% trust it and it won’t froth and so I think it maybe isn’t so fresh. And mixed with the tea for a latte, it was just sort of off.

Thank you Arby for the share. Sorry it went to waste.

Cold brewed this over night. There is a whole lot of marshmallow fluffiness here. Marshmellow and then a bitter citrus mixed with base. Not my favorite cold brew. I have had it hot before though and I think that is better.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
