Definitely did not add enough of this to today’s smoothie. It discolored the drink but did nothing for the flavor.

This is the tea that spoiled my dinner seeing as I used it to make a hot chocolate which ended up being extremely filling and soooooooo good! It was banana and milk chocolate sipping chocolate essentially and it was perfect. I had a weird scratchy sensation in my throat when I drank it which seems incredibly weird but I wasn’t drinking it long since I downed this in no time at all.

Smoothie Sipdown (261)

Added this to a mixed berry smoothie. It’s nice but a bit hidden under the mixed berry flavor.

I was sitting in the dining room with my smoothie mug from earlier and kept getting whiffs of a really good smell. I couldn’t quite pin down what it was at first since my tea was next to me and bananas were in the room. However, it reminded me of this tea so I pulled this out and decided it would be fun to try it as an iced latte.

Aside from this being the slightest bit Smokey, it’s actually making a really good iced latte. It’s got a whack load of banana flavor with some awesome vanilla notes as well. Not getting a lot of the praline but perhaps that’s where the smokey element is coming from seeing as praline is caramelized nuts.

Is A Quarter to Tea had some decent blends too. Sad to see they’re not around anymore :(

Fjellrev

They aren’t? That sucks!

VariaTEA

This is one of 4 teas I got in large amounts before she went on her indefinite hiatus

Matcha Smoothie Sipdown (262)

Dumped the rest of the sample into today’s strawberry banana smoothie. It adds a nice chocolate note to the flavor, albeit a subtle one.

I had this in my smoothie yesterday and it was delightful but I forgot to write about it…oops.

Latte Sipdown (263)

My friend asked me to try a tea and so I spent yesterday filling a box with teas to send her. I thought she’d like this one so I pulled out just enough for a latte for myself. Then tonight I was lazy and this was premeasured.

I overpoured the water so it’s a little watered down but ultimately it’s got a rich chocolate coconut flavor. It’s very creamy which gives the chocolate a milk chocolate cone to it. It’s nice as usual, and one I’d revisit if I order from Bird and Blend around the holidays.

Tea Pop Sipdown (269)

The weather has warmed up so a teapop seemed appealing. I was exploring through my teas and this caught my eye.

Drinking it now though, it’s not my favourite. I’m getting a lot from the base which is more grassy and not the best quality. The strawberry is coming off floral and when mixed with the carbonation flavor, it’s perfume-y.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
