183 Tasting Notes
I opened the bag and the overwhelming smell of grapefruit hit me. It’s interesting, because there’s no grapefruit listed in the ingredients.
Brewed, it’s a gorgeous clear red colour. Hot, it tastes quite tart to me. I don’t get a sense of individual flavours.
Cold, it really just tastes like tart hibiscus to me. I still don’t taste any of the other ingredients.
I think I’ll have to find someone to take this one off my hands.
Preparation
Wow. Strong roasty smell.
This is a pleasant, comforting tea. I think I’ll prefer drinking this in the winter, as the rice makes it feel heavy for a green tea.
Overall, I like it, and I’ll revisit it in a couple months when the weather cools.
Preparation
I’m not sure how to describe this. I’ve never had earl grey before, and probably won’t again. It’s …. drinkable, but there’s not much flavour to it. It tastes like a confused white tea. Not quite a pure white, and not quite anything else. It doesn’t taste creamy to me at all.
Overall, I’m underwhelmed.

Preparation
I almost didn’t buy this tea because it has jasmine in it. The roasted chestnut sounded good, though, so I ordered it.
I’m glad I did. I don’t taste the jasmine, and the chestnut/caramel flavour comes through well. This reminds me of a light version of Toffee Dream by Zen Teas. I think I prefer the weight of Toffee Dream, but this is still pretty good.
Preparation
I’ve been rationing my last bit of this for a few months now, trying to make it last until winter, when hopefully Davids Tea would bring it back. Well, I went on their site today, and it was listed! I put 100g in my shopping cart, and added a few other items (I didn’t really need anything, but, well, you know).
I decided that because it’s a heavy tea, I should order more than 100g, so I tried to add 50g more. I got a notice that no more was available! I hope the 100g I ordered wasn’t a mistake, because I just used a bunch of what I had left.
Still love the creamy coconut-minty goodness.
Preparation
I really enjoyed this tonight. I still think it’s very light for a chai, but I felt like drinking something light after a heavy meal.
The lapacho mixed with the sweetness of cinnamon and vanilla is really nice. I have enough for a few more cups before I have to decide if I’m going to replenish it. Actually, I think I have most of the ingredients. Maybe I’ll try to recreate it myself.
Preparation
There’s a bittersweet chocolate smell to the dry tea. Brewed, there’s not much smell at all.
It tasted like mild bitter chocolate (if there is such a thing) when it was hot. Cooled, much of the flavour is lost, and I feel like I’m drinking slightly sweet water.
Overall – decent hot, not great cool.
Preparation
I bought a sample of this purely for the name, I’m afraid. It smells pretty good in the bag – very banana-y.
Prepared, it doesn’t have much of a smell. Taste-wise, it’s kind of weird. It has a creamy, fruity, rooibos-y taste. I don’t taste banana or coconut at all. Not very pleasant.
Preparation
I find teas relying on almonds tend to either have a light, true almond taste, or have a very sweet amaretto bent to them. This is an amaretto tea.
Steeped, the amaretto is subdued, thank goodness. It tastes like a mild oolong with a hint of sweet spicyness (the cinnamon, mainly).
Overall, it’s drinkable, but nothing special. I wish they’d offered a sample size. 50g is going to last me awhile.
