I tried a sip of this hot in store, unsweetened, and it was pretty good so I bought some. This first thing I did was try it iced. Oh my is it good iced. The nutty oolong really comes through, with the coconut supporting it, not masking it. Sweetened and iced this is so so good. In fact, I drank 4 cups of it iced the first night, and 8 the next day at the beach (2 cups, then resteeped once for another 2 cups, 4 cups and resteeped once for another four when I went to the beach). I really like the fact that the coconut is there put its not overpowering the oolong.
Flavors: Coconut, Nutty
Preparation
My first gunpowder tea. Vegetal and a little almost smokey. Not bad, but not my favorite.
Preparation
I’m very curious to try gunpowder! And after reading your post about what you got in the mail, I’m quite tempted to try that green tea sampler! But not yet, I just ordered a gunpowder sample from Harney. :D
Totally do it! The little box with the little tins is cute, and they seem to hold quite a lot. For both the two I tried so far, I used 4-5 tsp and barely made a dent. The gunpowder was so full, I accidently spilled some out on the counter opening it. I just measured one that I haven’t tried yet, and it was 20 tsp of tea. So even using 2 tsp like they suggest its 10 servings each. I really like green teas but don’t know the differences between varieties and thought this would be perfect!
Got this in a swap from Ost
Decided to follow Red Leaf’s cold latte directions for this. I added some sweetener, and I’m definitely digging this method of prep. The latte gets a delicious foamy head and everything. As far as the matcha itself, the base is got that typical yummy taste that I can only describe as matcha. I can drink a sweetened unflavored matcha latte and be perfectly pleased. As far the English Toffee, I’m not getting too much of that. I’m getting a kind of sweet butteriness, sort of caramelly, but less caramel than the Caramel Matcha. I see that some people had to add a little more to coax out the toffee flavors, so I’ll try that next time. Still delicious though! (:
Preparation
I put milk in a shaker, add matcha and sweetner then shake it til frothy and well blended :) Cold or hot, delicious. :D
I usually put milk and matcha in an old empty butter container (ghetto I know) and shake that, but I still get some little clumps. This time I did 1/2 tsp matcha, ~1 cup of milk, 4 ice cubes, and sweetener into a blender and blended away. Zero little clumps and a thick foamy head. I’ll still use the shake method when I don’t feel like washing the blender afterwards, but I prefer the blender.
This is my first jasmine tea. I’m surprised that it’s naturally a little sweet. I don’t know, I just wasn’t expecting that, but it’s pleasant. I did end up adding a little bit of pure stevia because I just got it and wanted to try it out (dude that stuff is crazy concentrated, 100g equals 10,000 tsp of sugar).
This is a sweet kind of floral tea. I’m getting more floral than green, but the green is sandwiched in there mildly. The beginning of the sip is floral and sweet, with the green coming in towards the end of the sip, and then there’s the floral again in the after taste. Quite pleasant. I wasn’t sure how I would like it, but it’s good.
Preparation
When I smelled this in the shop, I know I had to try this, and when I tried my boyfriends cousins glass of this iced, and I knew I had to have this. I ended up coming home with 4oz! Iced and sweetened it’s nutty but fresh, sweet but light, a perfect balance between the dessert flavor and the fresh green tea. Hot, I’m getting more dessert and less green, but still quite delicious. Very good and I could see myself reaching for this a lot when I want an iced tea that’s not fruity. I’m impressed.
Preparation
Ok so I tried this last night, steeped for 4 minutes and left to cool and I found it very bitter. So before doing a tasting note I wanted to try again just to be sure. I let it brew for 3 ish minutes and added a splash of milk and as always, sweetener. Much much better. No bitterness, nice creamy vanilla flavor enhanced by the splash of milk, and a nice black tea base. My first Harney & Sons and I’m impressed! Especially considering that this a decaf blend. I couldn’t tell.
Preparation
Had this this morning and let cool while I worked on changed the battery in my car (whoever designed the layout of the 96 Buick century was an evil evil man). It took an hour but I finally to the new battery in and got her to start. This lemony goodness was nice and cool, adding a couple ice cubes and it was just what I needed to cool off after dying outside during high noon. Now I’m craving lemon pound cake
Preparation
Thanks to Arshness and polar opposite taste buds for this one!
I dd this one latte style as well (1/2 cup water 1/2 cup milk simmered for a bit), and added sugar and this is yummy. I’m mostly getting genmaicha from this but with the milk and sugar and the toasty rice, I do get a toasted marshmallow sense. I wouldn’t say s’more since I don’t notice any cocoa, but that might be because the milk overpowered it. Either way as a latte it’s a nice sweet creamy treat.
Preparation
Just received this from Arshness and did it latte style again. Mmm, did I mention when done this way that it’s color of coffee and creamer?
Edited to add, my boyfriend saw me writing this note and now he keeps teasing me going mmm. What a turd. Also, I added way to much soap to my dishwasher and now there’s suds all over my kitchen floor. I really need to get some real dishwasher soap, not dish soap.
Preparation
So I decided to try the tea soda thing. I brewed up a cup of this double strength and added sweetener and let it cool to room temperature. I then added a cup of cold carbonated water. I would say it was a success! The only down side is I think I prefer this fruit tea hot, for once. But know I know a technique for tea soda that works for me (:
Looks like I’ll definitely be ordering this tea from them.
I love coconut, so this sounds delicious!
Tea Junkie Do it! It’s really good
It’s as good as done. Lol. I’ll just wait on your reviews for the other teas you purchased from them. But definitely ordering this and the almond walnut green. Looking forward the the berry sorbet white review to see if I get that one as well.
I’m drinking an oolong from EnjoyingTea right now, but I was taking pictures of the berry sorbet earlier, and left it out to drink next (:
Nice! And which oolong from enjoyingtea would that be? I really like their Anxi Benshan Wulong. Very good. I’ll be on the lookout for that review on the berry sorbet. (;
Their Anxi Benshan Wulong XD
I got it and Imperial Ti Kwan Yin from them, as well as my first Yixing pot and the green tea sampler.
How is their Ti Kwan Yin? Big fan of Ti Kwan Yin, never had theirs though.
Haven’t tried it yet. I used the Wulong to season my yixing since the TKY is twice as expensive, and decided to brew up the wulong today since it was already open. I might try it tonight, and if not tomorrow!
Indeed, it is pricey. Hope you enjoy that teapot! Both as a matter of fact.
