761 Tasting Notes
I’ve been bad about logging teas, but decided to do this one. It’s one I like a lot actually, but I feel like I need to be in the right mood for it. Unlike the black pu erh teas, this one is green and much lighter, and I get no fishy taste. I do get sweet caramel and honey, with a little roasted note not too dissimilar from genmaicha.
I picked some of this up yesterday, when I picked up the new Cotton Candy and Caramel Corn teas (later swapped the two for Movie Night when I had realized I was not liking either as TTG). I opted to try this one today as I had hoped that a straight tea might reset my buds after all the artificial garbage from yesterday. Don’t get me wrong, I’m ok with artificial flavouring, usually, but it seems like some of it I just can’t handle. Such was the fate of the aforementioned teas.
This is not the darkest oolong I have ever had, but it is far from the greenest. I’m actually surprised it brewed lighter than expected but it may be that my water may have cooled too much. That said, I definitely get some mineral plummy notes. Not sure that I know how shea butter is supposed to taste, but there is a sort of smooth and slightly roasted nutty note, so maybe that is it?
I’m doing a resteep, so I’ll see how that goes, but so far, it is a nice and pleasant, but not amazing oolong. I’ll probably refill and get 50g or so (maybe 100g?) and when it is gone, it is gone, and I will be sad, but not devastated. I may change my mind on it. We’ll see how the rest of my 10g sample goes.

Opted to do a cold brew on this, and it came out good, but a little mild/weak so it could have stood to steep longer. In the end, I had about half of it cold and then heated the rest but it got rainy and cool outside.
It’s very honeydew melon, and the green rooibos base makes it easier for me to tolerate. I think I will have this one hot next time. I think it is good, but not magical, as some have, but maybe it would have been better refreshing if I’d had it iced when it was actually hot out. Thanks for the sample, Courtney!

Sipdown…and sort of sad for it, and sorta not. I’ve gotten decent steeps out of this reblend since Stacy said to steep it less than the package says, but it still isn’t the tea I fell in love with with the Amoda box for December. So, I guess it is a bittersweet sipdown?
With the shorter steep, it is less astringent, but maybe a bit bitter from the nutmeg now. I’m not sure. It is still creamy, though with this batch I’ve wanted to add milk, mainly to tame the astringency.
So, sad to see it go, even if I did not love this as much as the original.
Got this one from Courtney and it is both mineraly/raisiny/plummy and also cocoa/chocolatey. It is a quite nice black. I was able to enjoy this one without milk this morning, though I would like to see how it is with.
Quite enjoyable.
Sipdown! This was a sample from Courtney and after reading the reviews, I opted to use the whole sample and steeped about 10 minutes. I had a little cream left in the carton from dinner, so I poured that in my mug while this steeped. Omg, it smells soooo good. Sadly, like others have said, it is thin on flavour, but it it still good, and I’m using my sense of smell to try to beef up the taste, if you know what I mean.
I definitely prefer this over the plain cacao, but I’m not sure I’d get this. It is tasty. I’m glad to have tried it. I’ll file it away into my non-caffeine teas I like and see if it makes it to order status.

Preparation
Sipdown, but should not have been….I overzealously made the whole bag, thinking it was a milder teas from what I remembered, and that I was putting it in my travel mug, so this one came out a little more astringent than I remember, though still a bit juicy, I think. I’m gonna see how a resteep does. I wanted to try this again, since it has been a while since I last had some, and I wanted to see if I should order a small amount for myself when I place a Butiki order. At this point, I’m not sure, because this is not tasting as I remember, but it could be my own fault. Maybe if I split a half ounce with someone on a group order, I’ll consider, but I’m not sure at this point. I feel like I’m on the fence with this one.
Thanks, Courtney, for sending little more my way to try again.
This one came from Anna, and it’s tasty, but not quite as fresh (only very, very slightly less), than the sample I got myself from Stacy. I still can’t decide if I want to pick some up in my next order.
TTG today, iced. I do prefer it hot over iced, but it’s yummy either way. I’m out and need to get more. Probably soon, but I’ve got stuff I need to sipdown first. Still a fave though. Might have to just get some regardless, as it’s my go to when I’m upset tea, along with With Open Eyes from Butiki. Hmmmm….
