Sipdown!

This starts off on a waxy dark chocolate note. Dark chocolate = awesome, waxy = cheap. I also wasn’t expecting peppermint in this and I found it didn’t mingle with the chocolate well. Almost too similar to Mint to Be and out of the two, Mint to Be wins over for me. Overall this is okay, but not a rebuy.

drank Guava Mango by Satya Tea

Another that I bought over two years ago based solely on the fact that it smelled good; I didn’t drink tea at the time. Tried a cold brew of this because I’m trying to drink through some of my teas before I buy more, and this one made that list. Hopefully this will give me the boost I need to finish my case study without keeping me up ALL night.

The black tea is the heaviest note here. Similar to an English Breakfast, though I’m not really an expert in the black tea department. There is a noticeable mango taste while drinking, but it doesn’t linger. Not really getting guava at all.

I drink this one a lot, so there’s not much more I can say about it. That being said, I brewed it up using a teabag today instead of my Breville tea maker (as I only wanted one cup) and I feel it’s slightly under-steeped despite having steeped it for the same amount of time. Additionally, due to my apparently lack of cleaning skills, the water seemed to still have a slight spicy kick to it from my Mango Diablo from this morning; this actually adds to the tea really nicely and would potentially make for a good mix.

Sipdown!

The low rating on this tea surprises me, because I love this one! Admittedly not as spicy as it could have been—a very light sweet tingle over an intense burn—but the mango more than makes up for that. Unlike some really artificial tasting mango teas I’ve had, this is like having a bowl full of ripe mango. Sadly DAVID’s no longer carries this so I can pick up any more. I guess I’ll have to stick to Mango Madness to fill my mango cravings.

drank Peach Tranquility by Teavana

From what I’ve had of Teavana teas, this is by far my favourite. This always gets bonus points for being the only camomile I’ve ever enjoyed. While the camomile is noticeable, the peach wins out, without being as in your face as DAVID’s Tea’s Just Peachy. If there was a Teavana store here I’d probably pick some up, but trips to Starbucks can feed the occasional craving.

With any luck I had this early enough in the afternoon to not be up all night, but with no work/school tomorrow it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

This starts on a coffee note which quickly progresses into something akin to cinnamon coffee cake. I almost get a touch of caramel in there too. Very interested to see how this would do as a latte. Maybe I’ll pick up a little so I can make one at home.

drank Midsummer Night's Dream by DAVIDsTEA

The was one of the teas I bought on my first visit to DAVID’s. Again, I purchased way too much, but I’m almost through it now.

Had this cold brewed for the first time. First notes were a powerful orange, but about half way through the gooseberry started coming through. Most of the after taste is that pleasant sour of gooseberries. We had a gooseberry bush when I was growing up, but ever since we moved when I was eight I haven’t really heard much mention of them so I was really excited to see them listed as an ingredient. Funnily enough, I’ve never really picked up on them in this tea before now. I may buy more of this eventually, but after having it in my cupboard for about 7 months now, I’ll be happy to have it gone for a little while.

I do find this better hot. Less hibiscus and I can just pick up on some subtle hints of lemongrass. Still far from a rebuy, but much more enjoyable than I initially believed.

Cold brewed this today. I do still prefer it hot, but cold seemed to really bring out the prickly pear. Towards the end I got a sweet limey note similar to key lime pie filling which was very enjoyable :)

drank Jade Citrus Mint by Teavana

I recently gave away a tin of this when I realized I hadn’t opened it, so today I decided to give it a go while I was at work to see if this was a good call. I liked this better than just a straight mint tea, but I wish this was a little more citrus and a little less mint. I did find the lemongrass came out more as it cooled. It’s a nice sipping tea, but the minty aftertaste isn’t something I’m usually after. Not sad this is no longer in my cupboard. I’m learning my lesson with mint.
