i’m sick. ugh. I finally succumbed to whatever’s been going around and today my head is going to explode, i have a cough and my sinuses are messed up. So i’m taking it easy today. I started the day with a cold brew of this one – as always steeped half in apple juice overnight. Delicious and just the thing for this morning.
I also had this tea last night, brewed hot…and it made me realise how much i love this tea when it’s cold brewed, steeped in part apple juice. LOL I vastly prefer it that way for that sweet, sour tang. Just trying to help keep my system primed and ready to keep fighting all the sick that is going on at work these days.
thank goodness i chose the teas that i did today since i have had no time to drink much of anything tonight since i was at work today from 7:30am until 9pm. Home meant a short drink, catching up on tea logging, some budget stuff and then tucking myself in to bed since the next 4 days are going to be long ones!
Final Count: 158
i have a confession to make – i can’t stand this tea brewed normally in water. there’s way too much fennel in it to make me happy. HOWEVER….this steeped in half apple juice/half water; cold brewed is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! it’s like an apple cider sort of delicious berry tea. Thankfully i remembered to pick up some apple juice so i will have this finished up in no time! woot woot! (steeped that way, my rating would be in the 90’s…so i compromised since i don’t like it normally brewed)
Final Count: 171
I love when people try different things with their tea and then share it. This sounds like a good compromise on making this tea work for you. :)
i feel like i should be trying for two more sipdowns tonight but i just can’t bring myself to do it…instead i’m looking at this as working on a long term goal haha. I have no apple juice in the house so this isn’t the optimal way for me to be drinking this but it’s still tasty and still just what i wanted tonight. I’m feeling VERY disorganised today…i keep thinking it’s friday and starting to plan for “saturday” and then realising that no…i still have to get through friday. On the plus side, i booked my massage for this weekend so it’s going to be awesome. Not as much tea drinking as id hoped for, but massage + board games with friends in the afternoon = awesome
cold brew of this one with a bit of lunch today. I accidentally steeped this for a bit too long (re: 2 days?) so the fennel is a little much. I cut it with a little gingeral though so that it making for a delicious cup. I still think my favourite of this is steeped in part apple juice/water just overnight :)
Preparation
I tried steeping this one in apple juice over night. I love it! i think i’d actually be good to steep this in water over night and then add a little apple juice to it just for fun. Overall, still enjoying this one.
What’s awesomely fun and yummy is to put fresh apple slices in tea and then let it chill overnight. You get a hint of apple sweetness in your tea and tea-flavored apples!
sipdown! I may need to pick this one up again. I never did get around to trying to steep it in anything but water. I just have quite loved this blend as an overall nice tea to have in the evening before bed.
You can have the rest of mine if you want it, Sil. I only have a couple of cups worth left, but I didn’t like it enough to keep it. Too much fennel, Bleh!
i’ll likely buy more, plus shipping from us to canada is a pita – just ask terri lol but i appreciate the offer!
so i might have accidentally steeped this for like 10 mins…and then drank it like there was no tomorrow. Apparently this is a blend that suits me nicely even without any additions. I do want to use the last of this to try steeping in apple juice or something, so maybe tomorrow i can pick some up!
i made a couple cups of this with dinner – first steep with nothing and then added honey for all my subsequent steeps. I think i’ll try this with apple juice or something like that just to see how it fares with that or a nice black base. I’m trying to branch out a little in terms of blending my teas together so this should be a good one to try that with. over all though, this is a fairly tasty blend, as far as herbals go :)
I’m exhausted at work and did a double take when I read this note…I was like wait, she’s going to put apple juice in her tea? did she just say that? and then I read the tasting note again and realized it made sense haha.
YUM! This is MUCH better than anything out of the Verdant blend club box for last month! I definitely get a genmaicha vibe from the toasted rice, but the tangy oolong is interesting and different. The coriander and cinnamon give this a curry-like vibe. Very savory, and very southeast asian :)
The first time I tasted this I was sick and all I could taste was cinnamon, which was by no means a bad thing. Now that my sinuses are (mostly) better, I am looking forward to trying this again!
Mmmmm mmmm mmmmmmm, I really like this tea! Lots of coriander and cinnamon flavor. I honestly don’t taste much toasted rice but I don’t care. The delicate oolong taste barely manages to come through the spices, at least on the first few sips. Once again, I’m okay with that…I have really been craving a good cinnamon tea and this really hit the spot. Sometimes I think chai blends have too much in them but never enough cinnamon..so even though this is not a chai, this really fills that craving!
As it cools I can taste more of the oolong, and it’s delicious. This is a tea I would be willing to keep around, especially in the winter months! I have to agree with another reviewer..this tea tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Just better. Lol!
Preparation
You know what is suboptimal for getting sipdowns done? Eating something bad last night and having a still-not-happy stomach this morning. Ugh. So even though this isn’t on my sipdown list, I broke it open because it has mint in it, and will hopefully help my stomach settle.
For a minty-herby tea, it’s not bad. No really my thing unless I happen to have a stomach ache, but decently tasty. At first I though the puerh in this would turn me off of it especially since when it was fresh brewed and very hot it smelled a lot like earthy shu, but that has calmed down quite a bit. Very herby, a bit medicinal. Basically what I was looking for this morning… at least I had it around.
Preparation
I pulled this one out of the cupboard yesterday as well. I am STILL not a fan of goji berries in my chai but as long as they’re there, i can pick them out without too much fuss. I still prefer loashan black chai to this one, but this is also a really tasty one. it’s nice to have both back in my cupboard to get me through the rest of winter – which is the only time i really love drinking chai. :)
Final Count yesterday: 103 (because i didn’t add the teas i received from Cavocorax yet…)
sipdown! Working from home today because i don’t want to get my colleagues sick. Finished off the last of this that i had with a few steeps to just enjoy the flavours in this brew on this COLD morning! Sad to see this go, though i do prefer laoshan chai a bit better heh
I hope you feel better! :( I’m ‘liking’ you note, but very much NOT liking that you’re feeling awful.
*your
That sucks! I feel your pain. Me too, a cold w/body aches.
“Drink plenty of fluids.” – Another reason to drink MORE tea!
Naps! Have many naps. :)
Nooooooooooo! Feel better! I’m still struggling with a bit of something in my lungs (3 weeks now, ugh), but am much improved. I hope this is short-lived for you :)
Hope you get to feeling better soon!
