This brings me back to my childhood – we always had Red Rose, Twinings Earl Grey, and Peppermint teas in the house. I loved to horrify my father (still do!) by putting milk in this one. :D
So while this is a very furniture-polishy, tooth-squeaky type of tea, it’s also something I love because I used to drink it all the time.
I have a feeling this came from MissB, when she was in London. Thanks so much!
Preparation
Used the Keurig at work to get some hot water and make this. I’m not always the biggest fan of chamomile, but with this it blended with the rest of the flavors and made a nice sweet honey flavor overall
Maybe it’s just my aversion to K-Cups, but on the occasions I’ve messed with a coffee drinker’s Keurig, even plain water tasted like plastic and dirty coffee. Is there a trick to it that doesn’t involve dismantling and scrubbing?
On the 13th day of sipdowns..
I feel terrible, my brother has been sick for the past few days and I’m pretty sure I caught it because I slept all day. When I woke up I did not want tea at all, especially since I finished up my Ginger Beer tea the other day. I rifled through my box o’ tea and found a single bag of this from when we went to London.
Holy cow is it lemony. Granted I’m sick so maybe my taste is a bit off but this would be fantastic iced with a little bit of honey or sugar. A few sips into the cup I can’t taste any ginger at all but I can feel it (Ginger has this fresh, tingly feeling to me) and about halfway through the cup it hits you in the face.
Overall, I’m bummed I only had one of these. It’s really really good and I’d love to try it iced or with scones or at a time when I’m not feeling sick.
Flavors: Citrus, Ginger, Lemon
Steeped a cup of this in attempts to invigorate myself on a grey Michigan afternoon. It is very hearty and full-bodied; every sip seems to fill your mouth with a dark, lingering malty taste. It somehow reminds me a little of green tea (?), only much heavier.
Contrary to Twinings’ recommendation, I’ve only had it plain, so I can’t speak to its taste with milk and sugar!
Flavors: Bitter, Malt, Vegetal
Preparation
This was an excellent honeybush tea. The dry tea smelled great (a blend of both mandarin orange and honeybush). When the tea was steeping the mandarin orange was the dominant smell.
The tea tasted like a warm, pleasantly sweet blend of honeybush and mandarin orange. I would recommend this tea (especially for honeybush tea lovers).
Flavors: Orange
Preparation
I was pleasantly surprised by this one in fact. It’s sweet, calming, and soothing. I loved it on a grey day at work when everyone was silet and I was writing a report. In a weird way, it’s a perfect tea for introspection.
I will definitively buy it someday.
I have stayed away from Earl Grey previously because I’m not big on flavored teas, but it was inevitable that I’d get sucked into this classic sooner or later. I would prefer less bergamot flavor, as the flavor is stronger than the Teavana Earl Grey I had a few days ago. However, I didn’t like the Teavana Earl Grey until the second cup, so I’m guessing that this one will grow on me as well. I’m apparently very easily satisfied when it comes to tea, which is good for me…new additions all the time!
I like lemon to be stronger than ginger in a lemon & ginger tea and this tea. However, ginger tastes about twice or three times as strong as the lemon in this tea. That being said it is still alright but not my favorite.
Flavors: Ginger, Lemon
Preparation
While the tea was steeping I thought it smelled somewhere between hot cough syrup and hot Kool-Aid. However, this tea really redeemed itself because it tasted really good. I was quite happy with the blend of fruity flavors. It did not taste at all tart the way I steeped it (with water just below boiling temperature for 4 minutes).

Thank you, thank you, MissB, for throwing a couple bags of this into my grab bag! I enjoyed the first one months ago and never wrote about it, and have since been hoarding the last one. I’d say this is my favourite Twinings tea. Of course it’s one that you can’t get in Canada, because that’s how life works.
I love Assam. Easily one of my favourite varieties of black tea. The first bag was more chocolatey and nutty, perhaps because I might have steeped it at a lower temperature, whereas this time around, it’s bolder and maltier. I like it both ways, although I’ll admit the former cup was a little more exciting due to the additional desserty flavours.
Best peppermint tea ever. I don’t know why I even bother trying other brands when I just keep coming back to Twinings. I don’t think they are even capable of making a tea I won’t like. This tea is a pure punch of peppermint in the mouth and I love it.
Flavors: Peppermint
Preparation
I’m a big fan of Twinings but had never heard of this tea until I happened to spot it at my local Publix. In my experience, cinnamon-heavy teas are a little hit or miss, so I didn’t expect much out of this tea.
Upon opening the box for the first time, I was instantly hit with a scent that was very reminiscent of orange rolls. My hopes increased a little! As it steeped, it was easy to pick up both the cinnamon and orange, as well as a hint of sweetness. The liqueur was a dark brown-orange.
I was very impressed as I sipped it, noticing how balanced the orange and cinnamon were. Nothing tasted overpowering or artificial. It was simply subtle and warm. I’ve had many cups since my first and am currently in love with this tea. It’s the perfect tea to drink on a cold winter day.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Orange
Preparation
If your tummy is saying bad things to the world, this is really good for getting this back to normal (and some peace and quiet) I was sent a free sample of this awhile ago. Really enjoyed it so i picked up a box. Very warming, calming and vanilla-y.
Flavors: Sweet, Tea, Vanilla
Preparation
So shocked to see that I really enjoy this tea. In general green tea to me tastes like dirty feet, why, no idea. This is so light refreshing and fruity. Perfect for warmer weather or when you just wish it was hot out. I think this would make fantastic iced tea.
Flavors: Berry, Strawberry, Sweet, Tea
Preparation
I was sent two bags of this tea to try from Shae…she remembered that I liked honeybush, and sent this my way. The orange is a little bit creamsicle, but I’m ok with that. I did end up adding milk at the end, which added to the creamsicle-ness.
I have one more bag. I may have it, or I may pass it on to a friend…not sure yet. But I like it. I probably would not get more, because it is not that different than something I can get locally.
Archetypal black tea—a rich, mahogany liquid that’s hearty, substantial and warming like a bowl of oatmeal. Nothing unique to write home about, but does its job well; if you “could use A Cup of Tea™,” this is exactly what you’re looking for!
Flavors: Caramel, Grain, Malt, Roasted Barley, Vegetal
Preparation
It looks like nobody has left a tasting note for this in years? The tea itself is fine, nothing special but not bad, but after CHAroma shared this article (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-34173532), I’ve made a pact with myself to avoid Twinings and the other brands mentioned here until the quality of life for those working on the estates the leaves are picked from is improved.
Weird! I’ve nearly always drank my earl grey with a little milk. Does he despise it terribly? Then again, I guess that reminds me of my mom and her aversion to coffee with sugar in it.
Earl Grey is one of the teas I most love with milk.
Hahaha. He is just grossed out by milk + citrus I think. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him have an Orange Julius either, and that was another childhood staple for me!
