drank Hard Candy by DAVIDsTEA

I was underwhelmed by this tea on my first brewing. I found that I have to oversteep the tar out of this sucker (pun totally intended!). The smell is divine, the flavour though, in my opinion is a bit lacking. It’s like a watery cherry lolipop. It was perfectly drinkable and my son likes it, but I’m glad we only got 25g of this and not the 250g that was in the clearance section of the website.

drank Oolong Supreme by DAVIDsTEA

I’m not good at picking out flavour notes and hints in teas. When I drink this I don’t taste plum or shea butter, I do however taste a particularly good oolong. It has a lightness to it, lacking any sort of bitterness, grassyness or earthyness. It’s refreshing and a little sweet. It’s very similar to an oolong that my boss brought back from China, which is great because I was wondering where on earth I would find more of that without an english name to go on, but this is a fine substitute. Bonus: I bought it with my FS points!

It’s rare for me to find a green tea I like this much. I steeped this for only one minute and was rewarded with no bitterness, zero grassyness and a wonderful buttery flavour. It has a green leafy vegetable broth flavour, like spinach, brussel sprouts or fiddleheads. It’s on the pricey side, but I used my Frequent Steeper points to try it and will likely do so again in the future. A nice break from my usual taste of sweet teas.

Big bold raspberry flavour, very tart and oh so tasty. I oversteeped my first cup and the rose overpowered the whole cup. The second however was delightfully fruity. What can I say other than it tastes just like raspberries?

For once, a gingerbread tea that tastes like gingerbread rather than the usual spiced apple and fruit mixtures. It does a good job of tasting like a gingerbread cookie, I rather wish I had some to dip in it. Pleasant.

It’s ok. The coconut and almond flavour is pleasant enough, but I’m not in love with the black tea base. It’s not bad, just a bit dull.

drank Toasted Walnut by DAVIDsTEA

Smells like fresh baked walnut bread or cookies, I’m getting hungry. Just a hint of bitterness creeping it at 3mins 30secs. Tastes like a handful of mixed nuts, surprise surprise. There is an odd light aftertaste though, sort of seaweed-y. It’s ok, I’m glad I only have a sample though, do not want a tin of this.

Flavors: Coconut, Hazelnut, Seaweed, Walnut

Completely agree that it tastes like walnut bread or cookies. Try messing around with the temperatures and steep times. Sometimes I pour myself a tablespoon of whatever I’m steeping at the 1 or 2 minute mark just to see if it’s ready or not. :)

That’s a pretty good idea. Considering I always test the sweetness on a spoon first I’m surprised I didn’t think of this. Thanks.

This smells like fruity bubble gum, I was lured in and trapped by the scent. I over steeped it the first brew into an almost straight hibiscus tea. 4-5mins worked better than the bajillion I did the first time. Berry flavour hits the front of the tongue first, then a tartness hits the centre, finally the bubble gum flavour hits the back of the tongue. The flavour is reminiscent of Juicy Fruit (as far as I can recall, it’s been a good 15 years since I actually chewed it).If you swish or hold the tea in your mouth it actually starts to taste like over-chewed gum, weird.

Best peppermint tea ever. I don’t know why I even bother trying other brands when I just keep coming back to Twinings. I don’t think they are even capable of making a tea I won’t like. This tea is a pure punch of peppermint in the mouth and I love it.
