Preparation
Houston, we have a new favorite tea.
Let’s face it, I’m pretty fan-girly when it comes to tea, especially green tea. In my completely unbiased opinion, it’s the greatest and most delicious thing in the galaxy. Well, it and cheesecake.
I have to confess, however, that at the moment one tea ranks above all others as my current favorite: Boston Tea Company’s Mint Chocolate Delight. It’s an amazing combination of premium Chinese green tea, mint flavor, and natural cocoa. If you’re a frequent Olive Garden diner like yours truly, you’ve probably tried their delicious afterdinner chocolate mints. This tea actually smells a little like those mints, but the flavor is still predominately “green tea with the subtle taste of chocolate”, not “hot chocolate tea”.
The company recommends using one teaspoon of leaves for every 8 oz. of hot water, but I use a little more because the tea doesn’t steep very strongly, and one teaspoon is a little thin for me. The company also suggests adding milk or lemon as desired, but I kind of forbid you from doing that…messing up this tea with anything extra would be downright criminal. Enjoy!
Preparation
I ordered this as a way to give regular gunpowder green a “second chance” to redeem itself. Pingshui green has been a bit of an enigma to my palate, as I don’t like the metallic-copper aftertaste, but I keep reminding myself that it’s perhaps just a matter of finding the right grade, or adjusting the way I steep it.
This time I decided to try it blended with mint, and I’m pleasantly surprised. The smoky-mixed-with-copper aftertaste isn’t there, it’s smoother, and the spearmint makes it a great calming/evening topper.
I have pics and a bit more detail at my homepage http://bit.ly/qyO6mz but I can definitively say this has maybe turned the tide for me on gunpowder green. I’ll be keeping it in my cupboard.
This is a solid white tea. Just a nice solid white tea. The leaf smells lovely and fruity. Once brewed, the aroma of this tea is sweet and slightly grassy, It brews up to a golden liquor; a really pretty cup. The flavor is pleasantly hay-like, and very mellow, but the aromas don’t arrive on the tongue. There are no outstanding high notes, but nothing distracting either. It does have a base-line sweetness to it, and overall, it’s just really pleasant. I don’t know how typical or representative of a White Peony this tea is, but it’s good and would compliment a number of sweet treats or an afternoon sitting and reading.

Be prepared for this to taste more like the fruit that is pumpkin rather than the traditional pumpkin pie spice that we tend to associate with fall. It is a nice Ceylon black and has bits of sunflower (which I personally enjoy) and there is a slight spicy aftertaste to the cup that isn’t strong, but is noticeable. Somewhat astringent. As for the pumpkin pieces, the aroma of the dry blend in the bag is a bit on the unusual side because dry pumpkin pieces don’t really smell “sweet”, but the taste once steeped is fine.
If you’re looking for it to be a fall version of the super-spices as with a chai tea, this isn’t the pumpkin tea for you. But if you’re more of a purist like myself who enjoys tasting the tea in your tea, this is a perfect seasonal treat, and can be sweetened or left alone according to how well you love pumpkin in its unprocessed form.
Perfect accompaniment for toast and drier pastries.
This is not your typical fruity-tooty blended tea. The aroma is very much a “true” peach, but it does not take center stage in the cup. The oolong itself isn’t a weak leaf, it’s more of a medium oxidation and has a richer flavor than you’d expect. But they have also added sunflower to the blend, and honestly that’s what “makes” this a favorite for me, more so than the fruit flavor. It inspired a biscuit recipe (seen at http://bit.ly/kyEz8T) and though I can imagine it being refreshing as an iced tea, I’m drinking more of it as fall approaches. Just a nice, smooth, rich, nutty flavor with more of a hint of peach.
trying to get back into writing tasting notes- tried this one today- smells mostly of cocoa which was interesting. I liked it though- it was actually smooth, not bitter at all for me. malty and chocolatey. I’d like a little bit of brightness though. not a bad sip.
Organic Vanilla Almond comes in a tea sachet which I much prefer to tea bags. With a sachet I can still see the black loose-leaf tea and sliced almonds inside. I won’t abide by tea-dust!
This blend smells incredible dry! The infusion is a dark copper and the aroma is more almond than vanilla. At first sip, I can taste the almonds. The body isn’t particularly full, but the black tea has a nice enough flavor. The finish is all creamy, rich vanilla, which always works for me. I added a dash of almond milk and raw sugar to my second cup and that really helped the flavor develop.
All in all this tea makes for a decent afternoon cuppa.
Finally! A tea that holds up to cold brewing perfectly!
I can’t wait to try it with all of my new Boston teas. A simple flavoured black. I guess that was the key all along :D
It’s sweet and mango-y, like those big suckers you can buy in dollar stores. Man I love those things. It’s not the most dignified tea in the world, but I’m excited to bring out all my Boston’s boxes at my pirate birthday party on the 20th. Oh yeah. I go all out.
Anyways, love this tea hot and cold!
I oversteeped last night, bad Daisy x_x
Not a smart idea with a cheap green like this, but it was a nice treat anyways :)
Smelled more like pomegranate than the taste. Dry it smelled amazing, like sweet red licorice! It was especially enjoyable because I got to try out my new Agave – Honey Vanilla! It hit the spot last night while the man and I looked through pictures to put in our Cuba album.
Thank you Winners for having awesome, unique stuff!
I love searching the random tea at Winners…our Chapters also carry harney and Sons teabags now. I don’t like to support Chapters, but I do like getting harneys without a shipping charge!
Nice! Thank you Uniquity, I’m totally checking out the tea at Chapters next time I go! Not my favorite “book store” to support either, but it’s by my favorite restaurant so it can’t hurt to pop in. You’ve made my day :D
Glad I could be of service! I was so shocked when I found it there. I do love finding new tea in strange places, but I always have qualms. Hope there’s something there for you! : )
Oh man…I wonder if I could convince the chapters to carry Tower of London which I so so love..
So I went to Chapters last night, only one kind of Harney & Sons (Paris) and a TON of Tea Forte stuff! So I’m going to see if Paris is my kind of tea and hope that they get more in some time n_n
I’m sure they will keep changing it up. When I was there, there was heavy focus on iced teas, and they had weird stuff going on. I bet there will be more for fall!
This is yummy!
Ok on to the review haha. After trying some BAD tetley teas, I got afraid that my taste buds were becoming snobbish. I’m blessed with a David’s Tea every day as it’s close to my work, what if I got too used to all the high fancy to-do flavoured goodness that is DT? haha what I mean is, DT has very strong flavours that are unique and I’m loving them, but what about the other teas of the supermarket world that are closer to my fingertips, the ones I grew up on?
Well superlong story short, I went to Winners and bought a giant box of Boston’s tea, about 8-10 different flavours. Heck yes.
And lo and behold – it’s yummy! Not sour and bitter like my Tetley Vanilla Earl Grey experience, but a more muted and classic Earl Grey. I used 2 tea bags because my mug is huge and it’s an early morning. Added a splash of cream and sugar, as is my want.
Happy tuesday morning.
Hits the spot today…YES! Two cups so far :)
I really thought I already reviewed this one…oops!
Here goes…
It’s a mellow to medium spiced chai but I like the citrus flavor that pairs well but isn’t too overbearing. The best part is you can still taste the ‘black tea’ in this chai! A nice sipping or gulping tea…good hot or cold!
Yummy Nummy!
This is one of the best cherry flavored white teas ever! The cherry flavor is sweet and there is a touch of tartness to the cup as well. I can taste the blueberry and raspberry too. The rose is so nice here. It is a subtle floral note, adding a very pleasing tone to the cup.
I love this! I bet my sororitea sister will love it too!
Took this with me on a recent roadtrip. I oversteeped it and it was much, much more flavorful than previously noted. Still smells amazing in the sachet and nice when brewed this time as well. I do tend to like my teas strong and leaving the bag in the cup while traveling seems to have moved this tea up in my ratings.
Preparation
Purchased this on Amazon for $15 for 8 oz. bag. What a deal given the taste! The leaves are long and intact, so you’re not getting a low grade tea here.
I find this tea to be very fresh. It has a clean taste, but without too much grassiness. Best enjoyed in the late morning or early afternoon.
Like all green teas, this one is delicate. I don’t like much bitterness at all, so I steep this Dragonwell at one minute.
Could you buy a higher-quality Dragonwell? Of course. However, you’re really selling yourself short by not trying this out a few times. It won’t disappoint you — or your wallet!
Preparation
I haven’t had this is ages, but it sounded really awesome tonight! The berry flavor is very natural and juicy and just plain awesome. Plus there is none of the weird rooibos flavor that I’ve found in other rooibos blends. I might have to make another pot of this, Berry Twist is rocking tonight!
I’m having a bedtime cup of this delight with a healthy pinch of spearmint leaves and honey added. The mint seems to calm the strange minty rooibos aftertaste that this tea has and makes everything work together. I also think that this tea is having the dual effects sought of clearing out my sinuses from allergies and helping me feel tired enough to try and sleep.
The rating is based solely on the Berry Twist tea as I’ve had it several times on its own.
