Yes! Hot, this tea is all lemon and lime wrapped in a coconut hug. And not one of those weird lingering hugs from someone you don’t like. Thankfully the lemon isn’t that nasty plastic lemon flavour either (which I have previously ranted about).
Chilled is when this yerba mate really shines – specifically the lime – making me long for those warm desert nights I had poolside in Palm Springs all those weeks ago…
Preparation
I’m drinking a lot of Frank’s teas tonight. Currently brewing a cup of this one. So yum! Here is my full-length review: http://www.teareviewblog.com/?p=15274
YUM! I really love this blend. Sweet and delicious – and so much like cherry cola!
I just noticed that My Sweet Honeybush has this available again! If you haven’t tried it yet, you SHOULD!
Preparation
My order from My Sweet Honeybush arrived just a short time ago, I had to immediately brew some… this is one that I was really looking forward to trying because I really loved the Cherry Vanilla Cola from 52Teas and I’m hoping that Frank blended this one with similar finesse.
The aroma is very much like the fragrance (as I remember it) from the Cherry Vanilla Cola.
And yummmmmm! It tastes SO GOOD. It tastes very much like Cherry Coke. I don’t drink a lot of soda except when I happen to be eating out, and if the restaurant has Cherry Coke that is what I’ll choose.
This has a nice sweetness to it (although the flavor is greatly enhanced with a little bit of raw sugar) and the cherry and cola flavors work well with the honeybush. I don’t get a lot of the woodsy flavor that sometimes comes with honeybush – just a nice, sweet flavor.
I like this one… I like it a lot. And I’m betting this is going to be amazing iced!
Preparation
This is really good. I had my youngest daughter try it too, she really liked it also, although she did say that it didn’t really taste like cherry coke to her, it tasted like cherries and honey.
You beat me to it. I’m hoping mine is at the Post Office and will come home with my husband Mike this evening!
@LiberTeas Ha, you are so nice. The 52teas bags look small to me and I have a hard time parting with any of the ones that I truly love. shifty eyes
This has been on my Shopping List for a VERY long time and LiberTEAS was nice enough to send it to me.
However…
It smells a like a cross between Ginger, Chocolate, Pepper, Cardamom, Earl Grey, Orange Glo, and bark. Uggg.
It seems I infused a slew of GINGER Root and not much else…until I get to the pepper! WOW! I’m drinking Ginger Root and Cayenne Pepper! OMG.
This is VERY peppery…
Sorry…not feeling this one…
Well, I AM feeling it…burn in my throat…but that’s about all! LOL
Glad I got to at least try it tho! LOL
(unabashed gushing here :)):
This is the most perfect strawberry-flavored tea! I taste creamy custard, vanilla and strawberries (glorious strawberries!) all floating atop a delicious black tea base. The aroma is heaven in a cup!
I love it!
Preparation
Oh noes, I’m showing that this is sold out on the website! :((( I’m not surprised, since it’s so great—but maybe we can start a petition or something to have Frank add it permanently?? :)
A short but sweet note:
Yes, very pina colada-like! It’s similar to their Pineapple Upside Down Cake without the cherry or cake-ness. I can taste the rum and coconut flavors pretty clearly (but if you’re scared of the rum flavor being too harsh, don’t be—it just serves to enhance the yumminess of the pineapple and coconut).
Essence of the tropics, this is! I’m been drinking this so often that the 4 oz tin I have is practically half empty already. So I’m very glad this is part of the permanent collection!
Preparation
Attention everyone, this is how you do a creamy strawberry black tea! When you open the bag, there are huge chunks of strawberry pieces throughout and its like dipping your nose in a strawberry smoothie – the smell is that incredible. On the first sip you get that creamy-custardy-strawberry (or Zabaglioney) taste, which rounds off nicely with more strawberry. More strawberry! Heaven. And the tea base just kinda sits back and lets the flavours do their thing, which is grand. Can this tea last forever? Please? Please!
Preparation
Dreamsicle Darjeeling, you dream! The orange creaming soda overwhelms you as soon as you rip open the foil bag, which instantly made my mouth water. Of course the flavour of the brewed tea didn’t disappoint at all, this is perfection in a cup! And how delicious would this be iced? I don’t know as its currently 5 degrees outside, but I imagine it would be just as good (if not better).
As an aside, I wish darjeeling was used more in flavoured blends. I think the characteristics of the tea could lend themselves well to certain flavours. Especially this one!
Preparation
Backlog: I started my day off with this tea. Unfortunately, with my taste buds being the way that they are, the only flavor I could pick up on was the cayenne and so the best way I can describe what I tasted was like drinking cayenne tea. At first, the burn was a pleasant one, but by the time I got to mid-cup, it became a bit too much for me especially since I wasn’t picking up any chocolate or tea or other spices.
I liked this a lot better when I wasn’t sick …
I’m with you. The first time I tried this, I got more “burn” than anything else. Have been waiting for the weather to raw up a little to see if that changes my opinion any.
Well, my previous tastings of this tea were not quite so much cayenne. Well, no, they were still very much cayenne, but, I could taste other components as well. But with this cup, I could really taste nothing but the cayenne. And I am certain that my taste buds being impaired had everything to do with that.
I think I’ve found the way to make this “just right” for me. I add some Keemun when I brew it (in this case, I happened to reach for Zoomdweebies Keemun Hao Ya). The Keemun broadens the flavor of the black tea enough so that I’m not just getting spice and chili.
Very nice, indeed.
I’ve been awake for a few hours and just feeling kind of blah… when it occurred to me that I hadn’t taken the time to make myself a cup of tea. You see, my youngest is a bit under the weather and when one of my kids is sick my mind pretty much is occupied with that and I’m not into my normal routine.
Anyway, I am not sure why I reached for this tea. I knew I wanted a black tea and I wanted something I hadn’t had in a while (or perhaps something new) and this is what I chose.
It’s good. It is almost startling my taste buds awake! I wish the chocolate was stronger here, though.
Preparation
That’s really sad that yours doesn’t have enough chocolate. Would it possibly benefit from an extra 30 sec or so of steeping?
Cofftea – I’m a chocoholic, so when it comes to chocolate in my chocolate teas, I’m a little hard to please.
I know you said you don’t buy coffee creamers, but seriously you should buy this one- it’s almost too chocolatey for me and I’m also a chocoholic lol.
http://www.internationaldelight.com/Coffeehouse/Dark-Chocolate-Cream
I might give that one a try. I’m usually hesistant with creamers just because I don’t like the non-dairy stuff, but because this has milk and cream in it, that might win me over.
Most creamers, regardless of flavor, are pretty white… this looks exactly like whole chocolate milk. Which is funny since on the bottle they show it pouring white into the cup.
This is my second steep.
This is quite a bit weaker than the first cup. Not bad though, in fact I kind of like it… I don’t know that I necessarily like it better than the first cup because they are both a bit different from each other. In that same way I have a hard time comparing this tea to my own chai because they are quite different. This one is good, but if I had a cup of both in front of me and I had to choose one to drink, I’d choose my own.
This time, I added honey but no milk. I feel like if I would have done so… the tea would be indistinguishable… it would be like drinking sweetened, spiced milk. Which… might not be too bad actually…
Preparation
I ordered this along with the Fruit Cocktail green tea (I also ordered the last of the Banana Split).
I feel like I should preface this by saying that I am quite biased when it comes to Chai tea. I love my own chai blend and I truly have found no chai that can measure up to that thus far. Including this one. (However, I would like to say that even though I’m biased, I think that if I were to find one that measures up to my own chai, I would say so)
But… this chai is quite different from my chai. Mine is not a chocolate chai, nor is it “Mayan” – that is, it doesn’t have chili pepper.
And those differences do make this tea quite good. The smell of the dry leaf was very intriguing… the aroma of the almonds is quite strong… and provides an interesting contrast to the peppery fragrance of the chili and the sweet chocolate.
I am enjoying this as a latte which is my preference for this tea (I did try it straight with no milk or sweetener and I didn’t really care for it as much).
It’s good.
Preparation
Can totally agree w/ being biased. Except this is the one that makes me biased:) I buy it by the pound:)
I’d be curious as to what you’d think of it at 5 min. Inspite of a lack of milk I still think it tastes like mexican drinking chocolate when steeped that long. But then again I also use quite a bit of tea per cuppa.
Perhaps I’ll try that next time… I’m a little hesitant to brew any Assam past the 3 minute mark though… it’s sort of like a default setting in my brain – Assam – 2 1/2 minutes … 3 minutes is pushing it.
I know … but that doesn’t stop the Assam from becoming bitter, which is the reason for my “default setting.” I will simply have to over-ride the default… LOL and it should be interesting – it will be like an internal debate in my brain. haha
I can drink a cup without making funny faces but I’m not at all happy about it.
It’s very tart and missing that pastry part to balance it out.
I’m going to try mixing it with “Birthday Cake” tea to see it then it will become magically delicious.
Preparation
I brewed some of this last night to put in the refrigerator for iced tea this afternoon.
THIS TEA IS AMAZING ICED! YUM!
The flavors are all there, not muted because the tea is chilled. The green tea tastes slightly vegetative but not too much and the fruit flavors are well… very fruity! This is delicious!
Gonna raise my rating a bit because… I can!
I’m the first rating this tea?
I got my order today from 52Teas, and couldn’t wait to try this one. I too am a big fan of fruit cocktail – it was about the only dish that my stepmother could prepare properly, since all she had to do was open a can.
This tea is really very good. The cherry is a very prominent flavor and I like that – since the cherries were always my favorite part of the fruit cocktail! There is also a nice pear flavor to it that isn’t overwhelmed by the pineapple or peach. A very nice balance.
It is very sweet and fruity and I like that. But I can also taste the green tea. A great cup of YUM!
I look forward to trying this one chilled!
Preparation
Angroboda – yes, I’ve tried the white tropical one… hmmm… I would need to try it again though to be able to fairly compare them… I shall do so a little later.
TeaEqualsBliss: I’ve already got some portioned out for you!
I’ve been drinking a lot of 52teas honeybush blends lately. They are fantastic. :)
I’m a really big fan of honeybush now. Sometimes I just want something soothing and easy to brew—I can just throw a couple teaspoons in my travel mug, pour the hot water in and just steep it forever basically and it’ll still taste great. Also, I love honeybush because something about it seems to calm me down.
Anyway, this Lemon Cooler flavor is summer-y and delicious—like sunshine in a cup. The lemon is slightly tangy, green and herbaceous-tasting. It’s not a creamy or dessert-y lemon at all, obviously.
It reminds me of a lemon drop (both the candy and the cocktail) without the sugariness. But there is no bitterness or sourness. Very refreshing!
(I would love a Lemon Chiffon flavored honeybush blend next! Something creamy, light and sweet.)
Preparation
My second go at this tea – though this time with some skim milk. The creaminess of the milk brought out the flavour and the sweetness of the white chocolate a little bit, but it’s still not something that hits me as being instantly recognizable – though that might just be due to the nature of white chocolate being less intense and distinctive than dark/milk chocolate.
I can still taste the cashews very well – kudos to Frank, by the way, for trying something unusual. I think this is the first tea I’ve come across that has cashew nuts blended into it; usually tea companies use almonds or hazelnuts. But cashews are my favorite type of nut so this tea makes me a happy girl. :D
Preparation
It was ridiculously tempting not to eat the white chocolate chips right out of the bag – but I was strong and kept them in the tea. :D
I stirred the tea up with a spoon while it was steeping to help dissolve the chocolate, and when the tea was done it was actuallyquite cloudy from it – like I had added milk to it even though I was just drinking it straight. It smelled delicious too, like some sort of dessert or chocolate confectionery only in liquid form.
I though the tea would taste sweeter than it did, instead the white chocolate was more of a background flavour and the cashew was light and nutty. Never the less they lent this tea a smooth, slightly butter taste with not bitterness whatsoever, which was quite nice.
Preparation
I tried to make my bag of this last as long as I could, but the problem with tea is that it doesn’t keep very well for a longer period of time. I really enjoyed this blend and found that it makes a nice iced tea aswell as being absolutely mouth-watering hot with a bit of agave nectar and milk (yes milk!). I can only hope that Frank chooses to reblend this one at some time in the future because I’ll miss it.
Preparation
Six and a half minutes seems like an optimal steeping temp for this tea – it’s long enough to allow the flavours to develop but short enough that the honeybush doesn’t overwhelm the rest of the tea. Adding a drizzle of agave nectar also really brought out the marachino cherry flavour – yummy!
Preparation
Mmm, lots of love for this one, especially now that I’ve steeped it longer, so I’m uping the rating. The cherry flavour seems to get more pronounced the longer the steeping time I’ve noticed which might be a factor in my decision.
