1598 Tasting Notes
I thought this had cinnamon in it when I smelled it, but I guess it was the licorice root that gave it that something extra.
This is my second berry puerh, but there are huge differences between this and the one from DavidsTea. This one tastes more like puerh – there’s a heavy earthiness to it, while the other one was much heavier on the berry notes. I’ll have to try the DavidsTea one soon to get a better idea of which I prefer!
I’m also going to the mall on my way home tonight. I need to grab other things but I’m hoping to find some metal tins, or something that I can store my tea in to organize it better! I’m sure you guys have similiar problems with your stashes! It just seems like mine is 70% foil bags, so it’d be nice to sort them better. It’ll be fun looking for options.
ETA: The vanilla and licorice are pretty interesting in this. They linger long after each sip, and they do sorta wake me up a bit. Not bad for an after lunch tea (that will won’t magically help me lose weight!)
Preparation
i like the bags…but then i also have giant containers that i toss all of those in when it’s the smaller sizes lol
I have cookie tins that I throw my bags into right now, but they’re… getting a little squished. :P And I don’t have enough of them. I’ve got one for black tea, one for herbal/rooibos, and then two boxes that I throw everything else in.
I’m just thinking when I move more containers will be nice.
My tea shelves are a mixture of recycled tea canisters that are reserved for teas I’m in love with & willing to order a fair amount of (like Premium Taiwanese Assam, Laoshan Black, etc), bags, & samples. Some of the bags are sorted into boxes that tea came in, others are squished together into shelves. It’s organized chaos, if you know what I mean!
Thank you JosieJade for this sample! I think it’s been in my box for a while, but I’m hapy to finally give it a proper review!
I love the fresh fruity aroma, with a very smoooooth black base. I wouldn’t want to drink this every day but I could see it quickly becoming a regular.
It reminds me a bit of Tardis! I guess I do like berry teas, especially when they’re subtle.
I had to drink this one because the chocolate rocket gives me too much of a boost at times and I don’t want to get dizzy! This is very mild in comparison. I think I like green rooibos, although I haven’t run into it much.
I accidentally steeped this for about 8 minutes (or maybe more?) because Work got in the way of Tea, but that might have been for the best. The peach and fruit flavours are more pronounced than I remember, and it’s a pretty enjoyable cup. Would I get it again? Probably not. I think Rabbit’s Garden was a bit better for when I’m feeling peachy.
Preparation
So this isn’t my favourite tea by any means, but it’s not bad. Drinking the last of it won’t be a chore, even though it was hidden for nearly two years! Doesn’t seem to have lost much flavour because it was sealed fairly tightly. I get chocolate notes and raspberry, but for some reason I always associate this tea with coffee. And some days, I’d rather just have the coffee. Most days I’d rather just have an Assam.
Preparation
I drank this earlier so I’m going purely on memory here.
Anyway, I’m confused by this. Is it a white tea? Is it pu-erh? How do you draw the line? It was tasty but it remined me of Bai Mu Dan, and even looks like it. So, I’ll assume that it doesn’t have the ‘magical’ pu-erh properties (weight loss, digestive help etc). Tasty though!
No idea what Lucuma is, but I guess it’s a fruit from the picture! :P #detectiveskills
I actually really like this. Maybe it’s because it has the stronger flavouring, or maybe because I finally got the right consistency, but whatever – I like it! It tastes like matcha, and it’s a bit sweet, and it blends well with my milk. All good things. I guess there’s something else in there – possibly fruity, but I’m just happy enough with this that I don’t need to investigate further. I just drank 6 oz and I sorta want to go make 6 oz more!
Thank you CrowKettle!
I’m getting closer to finishing this one up, although I still don’t know what I think.
I steeped it for 5 minutes again, but it just feels milder than I remember. It’s a bit grassy, and it has that wonderful honeyed after-note floating around. I keep thinking that I’m not too crazy about this one, and then I try it. I guess I’d probably get a little more of this in the future once I’m out.
LOL, been there, done that! I always have to taste it, just to see if it’s drinkable…
Before Steepster that’s how I assumed green tea was supposed to taste. 100g of Korean Sejak did not deserve that kind of treatment.
That says something about you that you didn’t give up!
CrowKettle – I thought that same thing! Imagine my surprise when I read the brewing directions for a green, and realized that five minutes in boiling water is, uh, less than optimal…
