1598 Tasting Notes

Ack. Someone forgot to turn of the kettle and I lost my tea note.

Anyway, the baby got me sick, which isn’t surprising since I spent most of the day chasing her around and wiping her nose. Poor girl. She still had a lot of fun running around (she loves it if I chase her like a stompy dinosaur) and other fun things.

Now we are enjoying a cup of this tea (she has 2 oz at room temperature in her bottle, while I’ve got 8 in my mug. Hopefully it’ll help, but I never know with herbals. It makes me feel like I’m doing something at least.

canadianadia

I hope you both feel better soon

tea-sipper

Tea in a baby bottle! That is new to me. :D I hope you both feel better quick!

ohfancythat

Cool! Feel better soon!!

drank Lemon Meringue Chai by 52teas
1598 tasting notes

I’m not crazy about chai’s, but something about this caught my attention. I’m glad too because it’s very good. A bit creamy. A nice amount of lemon, mixed with spices!

(Typing with a sick baby sleeping in my lap is quite a feat! I’m down to one hand, and pick her up and cuddle her so she could sleep)

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 3 min, 0 sec
Sil

i waaaaaannnntttt! stupid canada post

TeaLady441

Hopefully it’s in tomorrow! Terri has her package already!

Sil

jeepers! though they do get mail on saturdays

Faith

This tea sounds intruiging! Also, hope your little one feels better soon.

TeaLady441

Thanks! She’s got a terrible runny nose, and she gets upset pretty easily, but she’s also pretty happy otherwise. Hope it passes quickly!

drank Jessie's Tea by DAVIDsTEA
1598 tasting notes

Another sipdown! I’m down to 106 now – not too shabby! This was nice. I’m always a bit nervous about lavender because I associate it with grandmothers and soap, but this was really good.

I just packed up 19 teas for my sister as a Loose-Leaf starter kit (with instructions, perfect spoon and perfect mug). I’m so excited and I hope she likes it. I tried to mix the traditional teas like Earl Grey and Assams, with all the fun flavoured ones that a lot of people start with. I hope it’s not too much. :| I will probably wait until Sil’s package arrives because I know she sent me some DavidsTea samples and some of those might be nice to pass on as well.

106 is nice, but I’m worried I’ll be up to 150 soon (which would be a record). I’m expecting samples from Jessiwrites, JackieT, Sil, TerryHarpLady, and Kittena, and I’ve got orders now from Verdant, Butiki, Steappe Shoppe, and Harney & Sons. And 52 Teas. Yikes. That sounds like a lot when you type it all out. I spaced it out though – that’s probably ALL I ordered this month.

Tealizzy

That is a lot of tea coming your way! Awesome!! Btw, I like this tea too. Haven’t had it in awhile though….I should have a cup. :)

TeaLady441

Yeah. It’s a little out of control? (That’s the Steepster life!)

And yeah, I’ll probably restock some of this again. In a few months!

Sil

haha…and so the slide upwards begins…. i remember when i jumped from 100 to 150….and then it was suddenly 200 and then omg terri made me hit 300…. lol

Nxtdoor

Can I like this twice? Awesome post! I keep giggling. (Not a girly giggle though. Please!)

TeaLady441

Hahaha. :P I wish I could like commments!

Sil

you know your cupboard is just going to be worse when you get to toronto… especially if i sucker nxtdoor into joining the ordering craziness lol since that’s SIX! people to join in the fray :) Also…you should totally rent a place near ours lol

TeaLady441

Hahaha. I better get a job that pays enough to support this influx of tea. (Steven Smith order, anyone?)

Nxtdoor

Wow. Twist my rubber arm why don’t you? Cavocorax, Sil has enough tea loving neighbours. Move to Aurora. Is only 30 minutes north by car and ..I’m having a hard time converting these people up here. Plebs, I tell you. It’ll be nice to have you.

TeaLady441

I think my bf was thinking of one of the smaller communities (like King???) north where it might be cheaper to live and less crazy, and then we can take the train to TO for work/school.

TeaLady441

Oh – isn’t Aurora like one train stop away from King? :O
(And it takes me like 50 minutes to get to work now in Vancouver with transit, so the idea of taking ONE train is sorta appealing). How is Aurora?

Sil

haha actually the other girls are all in guelph – they just drive in for an hour. IB is somewhere in the boonies as well lol.

We’re at avenue/wilson and my other half takes the subway/bus to york for school lol just saying..

Nxtdoor

Aurora is beautiful. Growing. Pretty affluent. I don’t know about train, I don’t do train. I get around, as nature intended, in a car!

Nxtdoor

You could always come visit before you decide. I know this great 4 bedroom home where you can stay. One of the owners started drinking a lot of tea recently but she is severely allergic to cats.

TeaLady441

Thanks for the offer but we’ve got my Sister-in-Law in TO, so he’ll have somewhere to stay. I guess he’ll be there for 3 weeks doing Math Camp stuff at York and looking for a place, while I stay home, drink tea and pack! Hahah. (I’d rather pack than look for a place).

How long does it take him to get to York from where you are Sil?

TeaLady441

Also, what does he do at York? (curious)

Sil

He’s doing computer networking technology thingy whatever lol. This is like his third degree so that’s it! He’s cut off after this one so that I can have babies ;)

He says it takes 40mins tops to get to school from where we’re at…which can be a bit long if you’re one of those people who hates a commute. Me on the other hand, as long as its less than 60 mins I’m good. It’s book and tv time :)

Nxtdoor

Hah. I have a Math BSc, from York! Yay York :)

This is tasty, and this is also a SIPDOwN! I’m so happy CrowKettle gave me so much of this!

It’s tasty, and creamy. I can’t believe how quickly I drank this down, and that was with two scoops.

So I started drinking this today, but it looks like it was mistake. After taking a few sips I appreciated the taste of it, but decided I wasn’t really craving it. :| So, I guess I’ll put the leaves aside for another day. Good thing I have enough samples for a few more trials!

ETA: My roommate is drinking the Countess of Seville, and the baby has started dipping her fingers in it, and sucking on them. I guess she’s a fan. She’s been doing this for a few minutes now.

Faith

Look out! You’ll have a tea-stealing tot on your hands before you know it, drinking up any neglected tea you leave unguarded!

TeaLady441

Hahah. Yeah and I won’t have anyone to blame but myself either!

(I really hope so though. It would be a great thing to bond over)

drank Florence by Harney & Sons
1598 tasting notes

So my bf asked me to make him some iced tea because he wanted something and I was so amazed that I didn’t know what to make. But he likes Starbucks fraps and sweet drinks so I thought maybe… Florence?

I used the last of this to make him an iced cup, with milk and sugar, but he thought it tasted weird. So… I guess I’ll have to drink it.

I made him some DTT Vanilla Black instead, without milk and he’s happier with that. Still sorta amazed that he’s drinking tea. #fingerscrossed

Kittenna

Ahh, you’re so lucky! I have yet to try icing La La Lemon for my boyfriend again, and sweetening it with honey or white sugar instead of maple syrup. It was the first tea that he said smelled ok (!!!) but it tasted funny so he didn’t want it. (Sadly, I think he’s looking for a replica of Nestea… and that alone will satisfy).

TeaLady441

Hmmmm.. that’s a hard one to replicate! Good luck.

Hmmmm.. that’s a hard one to replicate! Good luck.I don’t think he was that impressed with the Vanilla Black either. Well, I tried.

Thank you Ozli! I finally got a chance to try this one and it is darn tasty! It’s a very smooth black base as is to be expected with Della Terra teas, but the coconut and pineapple are very nice!

I’m sure this reminds me of something else but I like it.

Gotta say, Sil is very generous with her matcha samples. I think I’ve had a few cups of this by now, and I could probably make 2 more!

It’s so great. Hot or cold. :)
Maybe slightly better hot.
(This tasting note doesn’t mess around).

Sil

Haha well I have lots and wanted to give you room to screw up in case that happened :)

Sil

Oh and try it both cold and hot…and then there’s with milk or without…..

Sil

Plus…when I make a smoothie its anywhere from 2-4 tsps haha

TeaLady441

Oh wow. I should try making it stronger! I’ve just been using the perfect matcha spoon! And I think I’ve tried most of those combos, except for cold and without milk – not too crazy about that idea!

Sil

I should send you some cola flavoured matcha….it’s the only one I’ve enjoyed as a cold + water so far….

Chelle

This one does seem like it would be great hot.
I have yet to try any matcha with just cold water. Thinking the cotton candy maybe a good choice of my matcha to take the plunge.

Sil

chelle…that might just be a good one. toss it in a water bottle with some ice and shake like a mad woman!

TeaLady441

Cola matcha? Odd… yeah I’d be interested in trying that!

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons
1598 tasting notes

It’s gone. I just drank the last bag. :|

I needed it though. I’m grumpy and stressed out and I just want to relax and I’ve got half an hour to do it. So… fuck it. Vanilla Comoro time!

ashmanra

Sorry you were stressed! Hope it is already all better…

TeaLady441

Thanks! Much better now! I just needed to relax a bit, and I managed to. Even resteeped this bag for this morning!

Sil

go shopping! lol i kid ’cause i hate that..but yes..i picked up another dress…and skirt lol

Fjellrev

Glad everything’s much better now! Let’s hope you’ll get more of this soon.

TeaLady441

Hahaha. Yeah I know ALL ABOUT retail therapy! I guess I might need to figure out where to get nice dresses or something because I’ll need a new job in Toronto and I probably won’t be able to get away with jeans and a tee shirt anymore. :| But stressing about work, means shopping for work clothes to help relieve the stress!
