Sipdown!

According to my spreadsheet I’m at 115 now, although the site still says 124. I’m debating adding the ratings for all 340 teas that I’ve already tried to this sheet to act as a master list of everything I’ve tried. I think it’d be useful (especially if I add prices for teas I’ll re-order) but time-consuming. BUT, if I’m going to do it better to do it now than when I have 700 teas. :P

It’s pretty slow at work, and this helps keep my brain a little active.

This is on my re-order list, no question.

The site’s back up and I’m poking around, trying to see what’s new. So far, so good! I love that the tea ratings shows all teas that have been logged, even if you didn’t rate it and never did. I also like that you can click on that and it’ll take you to the page where your rating is. Snazzy!

So, being the curious person that I am, I thought a curious tea would be apropros. This one is so interesting. I don’t know that I’d take it over Laoshan blcak, but the chocolate and chamomile are balanced so nicely – I don’t particularly care for chamomile but this… yeah… this works nicely.

Oh, and my trainee is back. So… now more Steepster. #sadness

Thanks to Angel at Teavivre for the generous sample!

I chose this one because I like black teas and I’m always looking for more options – I don’t think I’ve had a Keeemun before, unless it was from DavidsTea.

I steeped this for 3 minutes and the result is a golden amber liquor that smells lightly of honey and smoke. It’s quite tantalizing. I’m getting fruit and a hint of smoke with each sip too. It’s really enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to resteeping it!

So I made this (sad sipdown!), drank half, and put the remainder in my timolino so we could go out shopping. It turns out we are going to have lunch, and then visit family for the evening and dinner so I guess that’s it for tea until I get home!

I am disappoint.I wish I put the leaves in the lid…

Fjellrev

The description of this sounds awesome. I should grab some of this next order!

Sil

Terri HarpLady

I love this tea. It’s just so smooth and luxurious. Like I’ve said before, it’s more butter than anything else and I dig it. I’ve only got 1 serving left, but I really appreciate Sil passing this on to me.

Like I said yesterday, I forget how awesome other teas are and I really need to drink more than black tea all the time because I miss out on these gems.

I was looking at my tea spreadsheet and I think I have 104 oz of tea – which is 6.5 lbs. Wow. That puts it more into perspective than just X number of teas. Now if I drink 4-8 teas a day (not counting resteeps), then… how many days will it take to drink all of this?

If there are about 14 cups per ounce, then I can make about 1,456 cups of tea. Is that right? And if I drink an average of 6 per day then it’ll take 243 days with 6 cups a day.

Yowza. I better add all this onto my spreadsheet too!

And maybe slow down on tea purchases! But with this sheet I can count my total number of ounces per month and see if my total goes down at all! :D

Of course I’m just estimating (and over-estimating at that!) how much is in my stash. I don’t have a scale. so I eyeballed it.

Sil

Did you like the little tin? Heh. This one is expensive but they have pop up sales in Toronto :)

TeaLady441

The tins is super cute!
And I’d never heard of pop-up sales, but that’s awesome. :D More perks to TO!

BTW girls, my son just called to say our teas have arrived!
Cavo, I think you’re getting way too left brained with the spreadsheet! Keep it simple sweetheart! ;)

TeaLady441

Awesome, thanks! I just sent your Zen Tea Pearls today!
And maybe I’m getting too left-brained about it. :p I like playing with numbers though! (and I thought left,-handed people were supposed to be artsy).

Fjellrev

Love this one too. I was fortunate enough to pick up 50g at the Vic tea fest. And I’m the exact same way with soap and perfume. I have so much, so I really need to sit down and calculate just how many years worth I have.

The smell of this is intoxicating. It immediately reminds me of DT’s Coco-Lemon Thai, except this is green instead of white (and presumably cheaper too – bonus).

Mmmm. This is really good. I forget how much I enjoy non-black teas, and I really should try more. This might be one that I need to stock up on. It’s so creamy and bright, lemony and vitalizing.

I also am REALLY craving Thai food because of this.

I love the the ingredients are simple, and there’s no artificial flavouring either. I’m not opposed to artificial flavouring per se, because I know that some times that just means you have one flavour that is supposed to mimic another but it’s still “from nature” or whatever – but either way this doesn’t take fake in any way.

I’ll have to cold-brew it some time too with the remainder of my sample.

So sad! I removed this from my cupboard!

Should I buy some now, while it’s still on sale? Should I wait until next week to see what Stacy offers on her birthday for a sale? Or should I just be a responsible grown-up and not buy any (considering I’m quitting my job in two weeks and will unemployed a minimum of one month!).

Being a grown up sucks!

Speaking of being grown up, I physically counted ALL my tea and added it to a spreadsheet so I can see how much of my tea is black/white etc and to keep track of the ones I really want to re-order. I love being able to sort.

Currently I have 114 teas, and 39% of them are Black! Aside from my 43 samples, the tea weighs roughly 105 oz and nearly half of that is Black tea. Yep – that’s the one I like the most of. I’m pretty happy I took the time to enter them all in.

Now I’m going to calculate (roughly) how much I drink in a day, and how long my current stash should last me. :P I can probably create a formula for that. Gotta love quiet days at work. #teanerrrd

WOW you have a lot of tea! I feel like I probably have too much and I am certain I have less than that…I also only drink 2 cups a day though. A lot of people on here seem to drink WAY more than that.

And yeah, being a grown up sucks sometimes!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

The scary thing is is that I’m starting to get toward that amount of tea too! It’s so easy!

Considering your circumstances, you might want to hold off. It doesn’t look like Stacy will be discontinuing this one any time soon! Everyone loves it so much! :-)

TeaLady441

I do, but it’s going down at least? I think I topped out in the 150’s and then just did massive sip-downs! (Well, to be fair, I just slowed down on my ordering and things worked out).

And you’re right Fuzzy – the responsible thing is to just hold off! I do have some tea monies saved up that I can use guilt free, but… no need to zip through all that in one month! (It’s supposed to be for Black Friday!)

TeaLady441

And I’m lucky – I can drink 6-8 teas in a day with most of it happening at work.

I was just saying yesterday how I wish it was Fall already so I could get the best tea sales (and drinking teas in the fall has its own charm). Today I remembered that I have this tea! That’s pretty reminiscent of Fall! I had to try it.

I was, frankly, a touch disappointed. I was hoping for more pumpkin and spice, but then I added in one cube of brown sugar, and the flavours just “popped”. Sweet pumpkin essence, cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom…. Yeah, this is very relaxing and tasty. It’s also comforting on what feels to be a cooler summer day.

And goodbye Autumn Tieguanyin!

Thank you Verdant for the lovely sample. I had several cups of this and I can tell it is one that I enjoy. Now, is it one I’d re-order, or do I prefer other oolongs? That’s where things get difficult! There’s only one Verdant tea I’ve been disappointed with – the rest are just bad for my pocketbook.

ETA: This is REALLY SO GOOD. Can’t wait to re-steep it for the rest of the day.

Crowkettle

I finished this up yesterday too and I miss it already. Do you know how this compares to the early spring harvest yet?
