467 Tasting Notes
I forgot about this tea until I saw it stuck back in one of my drawers. It was just what I need on a rainy winter (theoretically spring)day. Started off with a few snow flakes and quickly turned to rain. :( I was glad to see that I rated this at 100 the other time I made a tasting note. It is still a 100 but not as an everyday tea. This is just a little more special. The chocolate flavor is good, not too strong but not weak. It has an amaretto flavor to it that is awesome for those of us who drink amaretto occasionally. (Is it heresy to admit to drinking something other than tea?) This a good tea for my switch from caffeinated tea to caffeine free teas. It still has a lot of body and isn’t fruity.
Just sitting here enjoying my tea :) and watching Vikings. :D
A nice comforting cup of smooth vanilla black (decaf). Quite yummy and relaxing . Another tea I was able to buy at a local grocery store. Yeah! The vanilla is mild but strong enough to hold up against the black. I sweeten everything (practically) and this is no exception. Very enjoyable! This is something I will keep in my cupboard.

I was very pleased to find loose leaf teas in a nearby grocery store. I don’t usually go to this store but I will from now on! They also carry Harney and Sons Teas, as well as a bunch of others! I will now be able to sneak teas into the house with the groceries. I feel so evil! ;-p
The dry leaves have a nice apricot aroma. It doesn’t taste artificial to me. It is smooth and flavorful. I don’t sense any astringency or bitterness. I think this could be a frequent afternoon drink. While it does have caffeine, the site says it has mild caffeine.
There were no brewing instructions but I think it’s safe to say that it would be brewed as a black tea.
I purchased several other teas that I am excited about trying!!
Finding this tea improves my whole attitude today as it’s cold again :( but it’s supposed to warm up tomorrow :D
1 hour later… I still had another cup in the teapot. Of course it was cold, so I put it in the microwave oven for 30 sec. (Like I often do). Now the tea is flat and somewhat tasteless. I did a resteep and again flat. Apparently this is a tea that I will have to brew 1 cup at a time in my brewing cup.

Yeah!! What grocery store was it, may I ask??
My local Meijer clearanced out a bunch of Lipton pyramids awhile back & I was there Sunday and walked that isle just to see what had changed… There are 4-5 loose leaf Tiesta teas.. Yippee!! The first loose leaf in any grocery near me besides Lipton. I’m hoping tht only means there is more to come :)
My grocery store carries a local company’s teas, and that’s what I mostly have in my cupboard. It’s nice to have something I can always get my hands on relatively easily. (I should be cooking at home more anyway, so I should be at the grocery store more often than I am. I will admit that I have gone to the grocery store and just bought tea and cookies.)
Wow1 What a nice fruity aroma! I’m in need of a spring summer taste. I am sooooo tired of this weather! Steeps up a nice golden color. Taste is sunshine and flowers. OK really its cantaloupe but it brings back those memories of sunshine and flowers. The taste is cantaloupe-y and flavorful. I was expecting it to be milder because so often cantaloupe can be practically nonexistent in tea. This is great. I don’t taste much watermelon but I wouldn’t really expect much. I’ve never found a watermelon tea that is satisfying. Altogether a nice change! And it gives me hope that maybe spring will come. :)
Dry this herbal blend smells of cream and a bit of chocolate. (Not really surprising since the name sort of implies that.)I’m in need of something soothing because its a crummy day, snow again, and my friend is having surgery. I’m sure she will be fine but she has gone through a lot lately (Lost her vision, went bankrupt, house foreclosed, husband had a nervous breakdown and quit his job, vision improved just enough the doctor denied disability after being on disability for 2 years and she had to go back to teaching when she can’t see across the room and needs a zillion reading machines). So…. I worry. But back to the tea. Medium yellow green color. Taste: ouch! too hot! Wait a couple of minutes… Tea has a nice creamy taste, sweet, mild chocolate almost like frosting and more than a bit of peppermint. Quite tasty and soothing. Another tea to satisfy my sweet tooth! :) Certainly not one for every day but a nice change of pace.

Time for a herbal or I’ll never sleep tonight. Aroma dry is lovely, fruity, creamy with a little hibiscus. It is the rhubarb substitute I guess, since there is no actual rhubarb. Brewed it is still a lovely aroma, smelling like memories of a summer day. (Apparently a very distant memory, since they say it is supposed to snow tonight) The taste is sweet with a little tartness but well balanced. Enjoyable tea that I might actually go out and buy instead of counting on NayLynn in her very generous swaps! Thanks Naylynn! :)
Another cup of lovely tea courtesy of NayLynn! I love this tea! Somehow it gives me a bit more energy to get things done without the jitteriness that caffeine sometimes gives. I drink a lot of black teas early in the day but this tea gives me a much better get up and go feeling! I’m really beginning to prefer mates to some of the blacks I generally drink early in the day. Taste is chocolatey, a little raspberry and almonds. The chicory adds just a little bit of flavor reminiscent of coffee. All in all, very enjoyable!
I received this in a package from NayLynn and her son. Yum! Nice mild but tasty chai with a good dose of chocolate. I could drink this a lot! I used a little sweetener (I use stevia vanilla drops) and it was very satisfying! Resteeped once, still good.

I am totally enjoying this lovely tea thanks to NayLynn and her son. The aroma is fantastic. Caramel, coconut, buttery. It reminds me of a drink my grandma used to make at Christmas… mmmm.. what was it called… oh yeah, hot buttered rum! The taste isn’t bad either. It has a little bit of astringency but it doesn’t overwhelm the tea. A very enjoyable tea. I was looking for a black tea to get me wide awake and raring to go. This tea is so yummy I just want to sit and inhale the aroma and read (oh, and drink the tea also, not just smell). Eventually I’ll have to get moving but I don’t want to hurry through the tea. That would be just wasteful. :)

I’ve been drinking this tea quite a bit lately. It’s not one of the more exciting teas but it is a good basic for me. I’m not sure how much it “cleans” me, I don’t really sense any diuretic qualities but if it helps flush toxins, well okay. The taste is slightly vanilla and nutty. No astringency. Rooibos is not upfront. It’s a nice laid back kind of tea. Resteeps well.
I have been working on losing weight and I went to weight watchers this morning and I’m down another half pound. :) Slow and steady wins the race, right? I’m also upping my exercise level… man, that’s hard. It’s so easy to sit and do nothing all day… watch tv, read, play on computer. I do some volunteering and stuff but again it’s all sitting down. My new rule when watching tv is that at every commercial break I have to get up and do something. Empty the dishwasher, vacuum the bedroom, clean bathroom, etc. I don’t know if it will help with the weight loss but at least I’ll get a little more done around the house.Flavors: Nuts, Vanilla
Preparation
Slow and steady is the best way to do it. I really need to get back on the weight loss horse. I was doing great a while back and then I stalled. While I was stalled, I had emergency surgery and I couldn’t work out. When I was supposed to get back to things, but before I started back up again, I developed a weird complication that set me back for a few more weeks. Then my mom had heart surgery and I was her primary caretaker. I started to get back to things, but I wasn’t committed like I had been. Next thing I know…okay, slowly, but I didn’t stop it….I’m back in weight to where I started at and having a hard time committing to start again. (Although I’m not as big as I was, I weight the same/more than I did.)
I’ve been doing the Weight Watcher’s thing. It has really helped me eat better and gives good support. And if you screw up, they support you rather than harass you :D One of their examples is… " if you drop an egg, you don’t just give up and break all of them. You just clean up and keep going." They are also good about recognizing that there are times you just want that cheesecake or greasy cheeseburger… have it, don’t feel guilty but plan how you can work those points into your weekly point allowance. They also give you “splurge” points each week, recognizing that we need those things to. Can you tell that I just came back from a WW meeting and I’m all psyched up? ;p Don’t be disappointed, just move on! :D
It’s hard to do if one isn’t fully committed, and right now, I’m just not. I need to be. I’m hoping with the warmer weather coming so the sidewalks are clear of snow and ice will help me get back to running again, and that I will get better about going to CrossFit. (I really was going to go today, but well, I didn’t have time to deal with the cat puke covered bag. (see Citrus Green tasting note.)) Once I get back into the swing of things it’ll hopefully go better.
Oh, and I have to start tracking again. If there is one thing I hate more than anything it’s tracking my food. I hate it. Hate it.
I had to stop tracking food because if I let myself, I get obsessed with counting, and I literally just spend all day counting and recounting. It’s… bad.
