2987 Tasting Notes
Day 5 of the homemade advent calendar: Vanilla teas [with the added challenge of no caffeine]
I’m drinking this with a touch of soy milk and realising I need to make a purchase from H&S before I run out of this fabulous tea. As far as vanilla teas go, this can’t be beat.
Flavors: Cream, Malt, Smooth, Vanilla
Preparation
Day 4 of the homemade advent canelder: Chocolate teas
Laoshan black teas are the classic unflavoured chocolate tea so of course I would drink a sample of this tasty “Laoshan Badger”. Lightly malty, slight sweetness, lots of cocoa and dark chocolate notes. Lightly Earthy as all Chinese blacks are.
Flavors: Cocoa, Dark Chocolate
Day 4 of the advent calender: chocolate teas
I added soy milk + a pinch of vanilla sugar to this and steeped it 10 minutes to get an intense chocolate flavour. However I found that even when I steeped it a long time I couldn’t taste any tea flavour or chocolatey notes. I used up my sample (2-3 tsp), but perhaps overnight steeping or without milk would be better for this one.

Day 4 of the homemade advent calender: chocolate teas
I was hoping for a rich chocolate with some nuts, but I really found this tannic (astringent mouth feel), slightly bitter, very little chocolate, no almond flavour. I mean it isn’t bad, but the bitter + no chocolate is quite disappointing. I normally love Lupicia’s teas and find their flavours to be strong and natural. This one seems a bit nutty but not any distinct nut.
Flavors: Astringent, Bitter, Dark Bittersweet, Drying, Nutty, Tannin

Day 2 of the advent calender. Theme: fruity herbals
I took this out of the TTB and forgot to mention it on the thread. It only had enough for two cups and now I can’t remember if I finished it off or now. It was my morning cup and I was in a hurry.
It definitely reminds me of blood orange rooibos from Granville Island teas. It could very well be the same blend. I get blood orange, bitter orange zest (not a fan of the bitter), but also some sweet woody rooibos. I’m not sure why they say smoothie in the name because there is nothing smooth or creamy about this blend.
Flavors: Bitter, Blood Orange, Citrus Zest, Fruity, Honey, Orange Zest, Rooibos, Sweet, Wood

Day 2 of the home made advent tea calender: Fruity herbals
I’ve reviewed this one several times so I don’t have anything to write, but I feel the need to follow everyone else’s teas this month so maybe someone is interested to know which ones I’m drinking. :P
Flavors: Cranberry, Dried Fruit, Red Fruits, Red Wine, Sweet, Tart
Day 3 (theme: decadent or desserty herbals)
My friend gave me a box of this and now I’m addicted. I’ve been drinking it every day, sometimes twice a day and trying to resteep it many times. I never used to love it (it was ok, but nothing spectacular) but for some reason I’m suddenly craving it all the time. It tastes like a peach custard tart to me. White or yellow peach, dried fruits (apple/raisins), lemon verbena, a sweetness and smooth flavour from the very flavourful and fresh peach flavour. Maybe I’m imagining the creamy and pastry notes, but I sweat it takes like my grandmother’s peach pie.
Flavors: Creamy, Fruity, Nectar, Pastries, Peach, Smooth, Tropical
Preparation
A slightly late day 3 of my home-made tea advent calender. Day 3’s theme is decadent herbals.
I absolutely love apple custard and it is one of my favourite offerings by David’s Tea. I need to grab more before they stop selling, but I can never justify an order because I don’t have enough teas I want to buy at once. AND, they don’t seem to list Birthday cake online, hopefully they didn’t retire one of their most popular teas but I’d be lost without it.
Flavors: Creamy, Custard, Pastries, Sweet
