2987 Tasting Notes
I did 1 tsp matcha powder in ~1/2 cup of vanilla soy milk (cold) and it made a lovely drink. It was fairly sweet and had a very fruity cherry flavour. It wasn’t the cough syrup artificial cherry flavour, though, it was very pleasant. I was worried cherry blossom would mean artificial cherry + rose but I think they did capture a fruity floral combo similar to cherry blossoms.
Flavors: Cherry, Cherry Blossom, Floral, Fruity, Sweet
Preparation
This herbal tea is pretty great. The vanilla really sells the cakey lemon loaf flavour. I can taste a lot of fresh lemon but it isn’t overly acidic or sour (and none of that bitter dried lemon rind nonsense). This makes a great hot tea with milk but I’ve just finished a coldbrewed cup and I enjoy it iced/cold as well.
I didn’t find a whole lot to note about this tea. I did get citrus and what I think is muddy bergamot but it was a bit bitter/acrid and nothing was distinctive. All the flavours were too blended together to make out distinct flavour profiles.
Flavors: Bergamot, Bitter, Blood Orange, Citrus Zest, Lemon Zest
There’s green tea (very subtle, mostly blocked by the fruity flavour but you can taste it in the after taste), there’s passion fruit, and there’s some tropical fruits (papaya). It makes a good iced tea, although I find you have to use more leaf than many other teas.
Flavors: Green, Passion Fruit, Tropical
Preparation
I’m on a roll, yet another sipdown (but likely to be restocked shortly)
I brewed this hot but poured over ice. Lovely coconut flavour, creamy and thick but also toasty. Some cocoa/chocolate flavour, gentle herbs. It is actually a fairly thick brew because of how sweet and rich it is. I think it makes for a nice cup of iced tea.
Flavors: Cocoa, Coconut, Creamy, Thick
Well, I’m glad I’ve now finished this one up. It was stale and had that stale orange peel/old rooibos flavour that wasn’t my favourite. There was not a lot of banana or any other fresh fruit, only orange rind. After 20+ cups of this, I’m glad to free up some space for new fruity herbals.
Flavors: Citrus Zest, Orange Zest, Rooibos, Soap, Wood
Preparation
I only bought a small amount of this (something like 12g) and have made several pitchers of iced tea with it. I will be buying more because I’m loving the strawberry.
This is the freshest strawberry flavour I’ve come across so far. The hibiscus is too sour, but you can add sweetener or brew this in lemonade for something less tart. I can’t say I taste any tea at all, and you don’t see much tea in it either. It is more of a herbal than a white tea.
Flavors: Fruity, Passion Fruit, Sour, Strawberry, Tropical
Somehow I always thought matcha needed to “steep” in warm water/milk. I’m going to have to try mixing some of my flavored matchas directly into cold milks in my frother now…
