2987 Tasting Notes
This is a richly chocolately tea, but it is not sweet. It tastes a bit like unsweetned dark chocolate or plain cocoa. With milk it is a bit smoother but is not creamy. I would say it closely resembles a dark chocolate truffle that is a bit bittersweet.
I like it, despite hating mushrooms in all forms (no mushroom flavour at all), which is a major win for me.
Flavors: Cocoa, Dark Bittersweet, Dark Chocolate, Wood
Preparation
I finished off the last of this today because I’m trying to clean out some of my older sample size/smaller amounts of tea.
I do like the spice combo, but it doesn’t have anything cookie like, which is a disappointment. I can taste clove and cinnamon, but it reminds me more of a chai blend. The base is quite nice because it is smooth and malty.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Spices
Thanks to CameronB for this sample.
This is very fruity, lots of cherry and plum with some light floral (rose) and cream notes. The base is slightly tannic but since I’m enjoying this with some soy milk, everything is smooth. The cherry is sort of like sakura and black cherry combo. Quite tasty!
Flavors: Cherry, Floral, Fruity, Overripe Cherries, Plum, Rose, Sakura, Tannin
Preparation
Found this on sale and bought 50g for an absurdly low price (under $5 for 50g). So my order came today (along with four pouches of toasted walnut, the tea I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to get more of since it was retired).
I brewed 2 tsp in a mug of cold soy milk and this made for an excellent sweet and creamy cold drink. You mostly taste sweet and very flavourful creamy soy milk and almost no green tea. No bitterness either. One of the best matchas I’ve tasted because it isn’t bitter and it is very flavourful.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Citrus, Ginger, Nutty, Spicy, Sweet
Preparation
Maybe I should have picked up some chai matcha! I decided not to, since I didn’t want to be stuck with 50g of something I wasn’t sure of.
Re: Toasted Walnut – I believe there are similar alternatives available from other companies, so you might be able to find a replacement once it’s gone. Also, watch out because the walnuts go rancid (I don’t remember offhand if there’s also coconut.)
I’m on “order hiatus” but had to make a similar panic order for Movie Night. _;; And it’s even worse for me because I’m going through a move right now and in the process of packing up my teas! Tea companies, why you do dis?
I love lychee and I enjoy bellinis, but the strawberry in this doesn’t work for me. IT tastes artificial. There is also something almost sour in this blend, but I’m not sure what it is. I prefer the other cocktail collection teas over this one.
Flavors: Artificial, Floral, Fruity, Lychee, Rose, Strawberry
Preparation
I wasn’t too sure about this one but I love ginger and wanted to give it a show.
First of all, it rebrews well, I kept filling my cup up with cold water (5 times) and it still made a flavourful cup of coldbrew.
The ginger is great, and it is very refreshing with the mint (subtle, not menthol-ish like some mint teas) and cucumber. I was hesitant because of the cucumber and also because I don’t usually like mint mixed with anything fruity (not that ginger/cucumber are fruity). I think the cucumber was excellent, though. I might need to pick up some more of this. It is one of the best summer blends so far.
Flavors: Apple, Cucumber, Ginger, Mint
Preparation
Sounds interesting! I picked up a small sample of this yesterday and will probably have it this weekend.
I got my dollar tea club teas in the mail yesterday and want to try and review them in the next few days.
This one has a ridiculous name. There is nothing about blossom in here unless they are referring to all the flower petals they added to bulk this up (adds no flavour, though). There is nothing floral at all.
I also don’t like almond so I can’t say I enjoyed this “almond tart” rooibos. I don’t get pastry or tart, just marzipan/sweet almond and some typical rooibos minerally notes. If this has been called almond rooibos or marzipan rooibos I’d have given it a pass because at least I knew what flavour it was supposed to be. Since they named this paris blossom, I can only assume they were going for something to do with France or a floral profile.
Flavors: Almond, Honey, Marzipan, Mineral, Nutty, Sweet, Wood
Preparation
This matcha is ok, but even though I brewed it in milk it had some bitterness to it. The base was also a bit dull. The vanilla flavour was creamy, but I wouldn’t compare it to french vanilla ice cream.
Flavors: Bitter, Green, Sweet, Thick, Vanilla, Vegetal
