630 Tasting Notes
I really enjoyed drinking this, but I do not think I would purchase a larger size. It is smooth and sweet, and doesn’t taste as “earthy” as I have gotten used to puerhs tasting. It also can be steeped pretty much a bazillion times like others of its type if you do very short infusions. But overall, I think there is better out there for the price. Recommended because it was a quite enjoyable sample.
Preparation
I admit, I did not steep this according to the directions. Once I saw that the flavor was supposed to be smokey, I knew 6 minutes would be too much for me. Instead I have done several infusions. First for one minute, second for two, and will be attempting a third and fourth. The first cup was delightful. It was smokey but not overwhelming at all like I find strong smokey black teas to be. There is even more smoke in the second steep, but it still isn’t too much for me. I am very interested to see how far this unique oolong can go.
Preparation
This is like drinking grass. Which I am a fan of. It isn’t bitter and held up to a few steeps. I haven’t had a whole lot of sencha before, so I don’t have much to compare it to, but I would happily drink it again.
Preparation
This was really tasty, and I bet it would be equally tasty hot (I cold steeped it). That is not usually the case with the flavored blacks, which I usually prefer solely cold. The blueberry taste is very fresh, not artificial tasting at all. I give it a big thumbs up.
Preparation
This is a very exceptional tea. I normally don’t think a ton of gunpowder greens, as they mostly are just tasty and traditional and can hold up to a few steeps. This one is very vegetal but also smoky and smooth. There is no bitterness, and can also hold up to a few steeps. Very, very good.
Preparation
This is very floral and delicate, as a white peony should be. I don’t think this is necessarily all the special compared to others of its type, but I would absolutely purchase it if I were getting other things from this company, which is bound to happen. I think on my own I would add a bit more leaf for more flavor. A great, refreshing cup for a spring day like today.
Preparation
This one was a bit more remarkable than most of the others I have tried so far, which were all good but not necessarily better than other companies. I am really impressed. It is one of the smoothest black teas I’ve had, and it has a really nice rich flavor. However, it really needs a bit more punch of vanilla to knock it out of the ballpark, as the flavor is present but faint.
Preparation
I don’t typically love assams (this is a recent discovery) as they tend to be a bit too bold for me, the “almost bitter but not” taste just doesn’t usually jive. I did like this one – I steeped it for less time than I would normally steep a black tea and it worked out really well. No milk needed, which is often what I turn to when a black is too bold for me. Anyone who enjoys bold teas will definitely enjoy this.
Preparation
This is a really solid, quintessential green to me. It is light but not super super light, and not bitter at all. It doesn’t taste particularly fruity. It is really what I imagine plain green tea to taste like, and it tastes good. Which is I suppose what matters the most. I resteeped this twice, but am unsure of how often it could be done. If I had done shorter times, I imagine this could have gotten a lot of steeps out of it.
