I had this tea this morning. I will refrain from rating it though. I believe the delight that this tea used to bring with it’s yummy, creamy root beer taste has vanished due to it’s age. It’s a bit sad actually. I wish I had finished it when the flavour was more vibrant and pleasing. I have about one cup left which I will cold brew tonight to see if I can coax some of it’s former spirit back into the leaf.
This makes me fear for my Butiki and RiverTeas. I have been very carefully hoarding what I have left as they are some of my favorites and I cannot acquire any more. I will have to monitor their remaining strength of aroma & flavour so as to not subject them to this fate. Sigh. I wish I didn’t have such worries and I could just order more. :(
Oh well, I am VERY glad to have any at this point. It makes me a lucky lady. :)

Edit: I had this cold brewed and I am happy to say that slightly more flavour came out this way.

This tea was much too weak for my tastes. I’m not sure if it’s because I used to be a heavy coffee drinker in addition to tea. Therefore, perhaps I expected the rich hazelnut and vanilla flavours that often accompany coffee. In any case, this tea barely had any flavour at all. I could taste the basic slightly astringent black base with a wee bit of a vanilla highlight. I would characterize it as a shadow of vanilla. Not creamy, & no hazelnut flavour or aroma either. It wasn’t a bad tea, but it wasn’t a good tea either. I have had several other teas from this company that were so much better. So sadly, this one was a disappointment.

Cinnamon. That is all I am getting from this tea. It is a nice cinnamon tea but in no way, shape, or form does it resemble “cake.”
I was trying to find a similar tea to my beloved Granny’s Cake from the late RiverTea (I miss you!) This most definitely was not it.

I had this yesterday and I found it delicious. I may have hit the “sweet spot” steep wise because it was so very lovely. Deep caramel and burnt sugar flavours. It had the spicy flair of chai too and those flavours did compliment one another well. I think I have enough for perhaps one more cuppa, but I like it so much that I wish I had more. I may be hoarding my remaining leaf of this for a bit. :)

I cold brewed up the remaining leaf I had of this for 36 hours. I have had it for about 7 months so I wanted to err on the side of caution and use it up before the coconut turned rancid. I added only about a tablespoon of organic sugar syrup to the large glass pitcher I used to brew it. It came out pretty good. Slightly creamy, strongly minty, with hints of coconut and apple. The coconut produced the creaminess in the tea, I think. It was a pleasant blend, but I don’t see myself searching it out in the future.

Sorry for my absenteeism as of late; I recently purchased a new home and it has been so chaotic! Anyhow, Thanks to Miss B for the chance to try this tea. I found the aroma very pleasing with an intense apricot fragrance that made me salivate. When brewed the flavour was slightly less concentrated but still lovely. The combination of black tea (perhaps of the keemun variety?) and apricot was truly magnificent. I can see myself enjoying this tea in the future.

I received this in my Farewell Frank 52 teas clearance sale grab bag. I brewed it up hot for the first tasting. I was definitely worried by the aroma of the dry leaf. I remember reading a review that said this tea tasted like cough medicine. Honestly, the odor that you get from sniffing the leaf in the bag is SPOT ON cherry cough medicine. Really off-putting. I was terrified as this tea steeped that I would end up having to toss it out. I added a touch of honey and waited a few minutes so that it would not scald my mouth, before courageously giving it a go. …& it wasn’t too bad! :) It, thank heavens, did not taste at all like it smelled. I could really define the cranberry more than the pineapple, and the marshmallow added a softness that I liked. I thought the green tea worked well with the flavours too. Not my favorite cranberry tea, but a solid offering anyhow.

Today I am having this tea cold-brewed. I think I slightly prefer it prepared this way over having it hot. You end up with more of a blend of pineapple and cranberry tossed with marshmallow in this form. The flavours meld nicely, and the green tea base compliments it as well. Nice and thirst quenching on a hot day.

A pleasing combination of spearmint and lush green tea. I very much enjoyed the fact that the mint did not overtake all the flavours of the tea itself. It was a harmonious union of the two flavours together. Very much obliged to Marzipan who I believe sent me this one with a past purchase from one of her stash sales that I am so addicted to buying from! ;-P

I first had this tea hot. The flavour was mellow, slightly creamy marshmallow. The flavour of the Assam was well integrated into the tea. I sipped it with breakfast yesterday. I would prefer the marshmallow to be more developed, but i enjoyed it nonetheless.

I am having it cold brewed today with lunch. Oh yes, this I much prefer. Lovely marshmallowy, lightly malty brew. I feel as if the flavours on most 52 Teas show themselves more when cold brewed. Maybe it’s just me though. Who knows?
