2291 Tasting Notes
Aww, I wasn’t expecting this to be a sipdown!
It’s basically a pumpkin spice tea, but it’s my favourite pumpkin spice tea. I probably won’t order it again, as I’m not a huge fan of the “same-ness” of their flavoured teas, and also the dollar really sucks a lot.
Preparation
I have So Much of this tea, I need to start drinking it more!
It’s sooooo good. All the licorice, none of the sweetness. I had some before work this afternoon to help cheer me up. With local-ish, grass fed, unhomogenized milk. YUM.
Preparation
Oh boy. This tea is something I love to smell, but don’t like to taste.
But I thought I’d try making a tea soda a la Roswell Strange, to see if that might change my mind. It hasn’t, although the tea soda is really really good. (Any tea frens want me to drop the rest of this in their box?)
1 heaping-ish tbsp leaves to (whoops) 1/2 cup of water. I added 8 tsp sugar to it. Used 1 tbsp syrup to one cup sparkling water and ice.
WOW. This is pretty amazing. I’m still not loving the floral part of the lemon-candy-almond blend, but wow. (Why am I not loving the floral part? Usually I like some floral in teas. This one just… doesn’t work for me for some reason. :( )
Highly recommend tea sodas. But maybe actually do 1-2 tbsp in 1/4 cup of water and 4-5 tsp sugar like Roswell does. :) It worked out for this tea because it’s soooo strong, but my way might not work for other teas.
(Now I have to do this with Tamarind Gui Fei, Caramel Apple Oolong, Lupicia’s Melon Oolong, Watermelon Xylophone… basically ALL THE TEAS.)
Preparation
You want it Fjellrev? I’ll put in a bag for you. (I WILL need an address…) And once MissB’s stuff gets here I’ll add some of that too… muahaha.
Noooonono. I have a lot. A lot. Just that I’ll gladly sit back and enjoy it instead haha.
I’m also moving back and forth constantly, plus, to be honest, I kind of want to step away from swapping and stuff anyway. But thanks. :)
Sample from Kittenna! Thank you. :)
I wasn’t expecting to like this one, either, really. Coffee does not belong in tea. Even the smell, although lovely, made me hesitate. But I got over it and steeped it up and it’s FANTASTIC. I added some milk and a touch (like.. 1/4 tsp maybe?) of sugar, and it’s coffee and creamy and sweet and yum.
Thank you so much for sharing! I’m kinda sad I didn’t manage to get any of this one, but I’m very happy with the taste.
Preparation
Goodbye delicious tea.
All I have left now is a boat load of Caramel Vanilla. So really I’m not too sad.
(Malty, sweet, carby, not astringent, a teeeeensy bit bitter as it cools. Way more flavourful than some others I’ve tried. Not as sweet, either, which I kind of like.)
2 steeps.
Preparation
Sipdown! Thank goodness I have no more of these teas in my cupboard. I’m incredibly unimpressed with the customer service of this company (chasing them for ingredients, friends orders not being received, etc), and their black base is seriously the most finicky I’ve had.
So, an oolong. Dry, it smells divine. The best citrus smell ever. Steeped, it smells a little toasty. And.. even though I added a bit of sugar to bring out the citrus, all I can really taste is the oolong. A little citrus at the end of the sip, but that might be the orange I just peeled. It’s also a little… pithy. I didn’t think I steeped it long enough for the pith from the peels to come out, but apparently I did.
It’s not a terrible oolong, but it is pretty basic. And it’s not the type of oolong flavour I enjoy most (please give me OTT floral green oolongs TYVM).
The other 2 tsp of the sample is cold brewing, and I have higher hopes for that one. It should go well (should! I hope!) with the lemonade syrup I made.
(1.5 tsp in 10 oz)
Preparation
I ordered from them the beginning of January, and still haven’t received my order. I finally got a hold of them last week and they said they would send it again with a tracking number, but I still haven’t received the tracking number. It really doesn’t seem to be a very reliable company.
it’s AWFUL. DO NOT SHOP HERE. The owner is clearly more focused on everything else he is trying to do and cares NOTHING about his tea business. He didn’t even bring his tea to the tea festival this year…just his new kombucha drinks… i was THIS CLOSE to asking him to consider focusing his energy on ONE THING and doing it right… he’s clearly all over the map and his inability to care about his tea shop just means i’ll never spend time/money/effort on any of his other ventures…because i’ll constantly be wondering, when is he going to get bored with this one?
Sample from Kittenna! Thank you. :)
As bai mu dan isn’t really my favourite base, I wasn’t expecting much. Aaaand… I was right. Although the flavours smell and taste good, the base tea isn’t doing anything for me.
Cinnamon Vanilla and Squash with a very carby black tea? Oh, I’d be all over it.
Oh well, can’t win them all.
Thanks so much for sharing! I appreciate the chance to try this tea. (And I’ll probably do another steep in a bit, just because I can…)
Preparation
Second steep = CINNAMON OMGGGGGG!!!!! Also it’s a lot thicker feeling. I steeped 175F for 3 min. (The overload of cinnamon might be because it sat overnight, so it really had a chance to bloom. Haha. It makes a good cinnamon tea!)
Yeah, or there was a large cinnamon piece in there or something. My second infusion was so much squash I could hardly drink it. The first was much tastier. I do, however, appreciate the inclusion of actual squash.
Another tea from MissB. Sadly I can’t find the ingredients anywhere on the internets.
And I’m curious, because it smells like there’s nettle leaf or parsley or something in it! Haha. It’s pretty good, all things considered. It is indeed lemon and ginger. A bit sweet. Slightly savoury from whatever the green leaves in the tea bag are (probably nettle!). I wonder if the bit sweet is from stevia or licorice. It doesn’t have too much of an aftertaste, so I can’t tell.
All in all, this is a nice lemony-gingery easy herbal tea.
(Oh, and I’m wrong! There’s lemongrass and lime flowers and BLACKBERRY LEAVES. So that explains the herbaceous touch, the delicate lemon, and the sweetness.)
