2291 Tasting Notes
I’m pretty sure this one is from MissB at some point through Sil. Maybe.
It tastes like candy raspberry. It’s a little bland and a tiny bit sour on its own, so I added some honey.
Apparently there’s licorice in this, but it’s basically undetectable. It’s the second to last ingredient.
Anyways, I think I might be getting sick (noooooo) so I’ll be sure to finish this tea up post haste.
2 tea bags, 5 minutes, 16 oz, 195F.
So I forgot I was steeping this tea and went to the washroom… and thus oversteeped. But! There is a happy ending. SO BANANA-Y! 3 tsp in my 16 oz mug, with some good chunks of banana in it. ~4-5 minutes steep time. Yes, it’s oversteeped, but with milk it’s totally fine. And it really tastes like banana.
Super magical this time.
I know it sounds like total blasphemy, but aside from real banana/banana chips, I’d love a tea that would taste like marshmallow bananas, or banana Melona bars. So fake but so good haha.
Almost a sipdown here, and I happened to come across some other teas in the cupboard that I managed to get rid of. Teaspoons here and there that just haven’t ever been drunk.
Anyways, I still love this, and still wish it were a black tea. Violet and raspberry. Yum. So good.
2 short steeps at 175, combined into a bigger mug.
I’m not really sure where this is from, but it is indeed a black tea ball.

There were 2 bags and the labels were conflicting. The more detailed label suggested gongfu starting at 1 min and 70C, moving up in time and temp. Which. No. Insipid lightly coloured water.
So I steeped it for about 10 minutes? It’s gone a little astringent but not too much. Still not the bestest though. There are other balls I like better. ;)
Oh thank goodness finally a sipdown. And a legitimate one, of a tea that I’m really enjoying drinking.
I put some cream in this, for a lemony creamy pudding effect. So tasty.
If I needed more tea (And I don’t. Really.), I would definitely consider getting some of this.
Preparation
OMG tea, I can’t believe I FORGOT about you!
At least I packaged it securely, in its bags, inside a plastic bag, inside a double lidded tin. The scent hasn’t faded although the leaves aren’t quite as pretty as they used to be.
Still tastes delicious. YUM. I really need to work on drinking this up.
From Sil. :)
I kept like 1/2 tsp back to try. I don’t like pear, so I’m not really expecting much from this tea.
It smells like fuzzy peaches, and pear jelly beans. Uhh…
Hmm. I didn’t steep it very long – maybe 30 seconds. It’s mostly peach I think, but with that icky overripe jelly bean pear flavour in the background.
I did another steep while I stirred my chili. Still really peachy and overripe pear. I think that if you love those flavours, this would be a good tea for you. It is high quality, and I am appreciating the oolong base. However, since the pear is really one of my LEAST favourite flavours, it’s falling flat for me.
But I did get a glass test tube with a cork cap out of the deal. ;)
Preparation
From Sil. :)
My first impression is Whoa, butter. This may partially be contributed to by the cream I put in the tea this morning. As I was steeping it I definitely smelled the caramel and salt.
I’m really enjoying this tea. Hopefully I manage to finish the whole mug. :)
I’m other news, I let my kettle rest and it worked this morning! Yayyyyy!!! Definitely need to remember to unplug it now, but the plan is to try to keep it going as long as possible. Maybe closer to Christmas I’ll get the Cuisinart one from Costco.
An update as I’m almost finished my mug. The tea tastes like it should be really thick (butter, caramel), but it really isn’t. I’m super excited to try the salted caramel oolongs now.
Oh man, this tea. It’s so good! Even though I ended up having to make it with boiling water this morning.
You see, my variable temperature kettle has lost its capabilities. It doesn’t understand the temperature presets, and it also doesn’t know when to STOP BOILING. So I made my tea, and hoped, and the tea is fine! Yay Lupicia and the ability for their teas to withstand boiling temperatures!
Boo, broken kettle.
So I’m in the market for a new one. I’m not really sure what to get, but my budget is tiny. And because my budget is tiny, I can’t order from the States as the exchange and shipping kinda ruin any “reasonable” price. Walmart seems to have a couple things. But IDK. I need to find my old regular kettle that still turns off when it boils, and I’ll try using that for a few days I guess.
I already miss the variable temperature options. Already.
Preparation
That’s brutal! How long have you had it for? And I hope you didn’t pay too much for it. I don’t even have it. But maybe someday I’ll get one from Walmart since I, at the moment, can’t justify paying $150+ for one.
It is just over 2, and I use it multiple times a day, so IMO not such a bad lifespan. I think it was maybe $60? There are loads of options between $50 and $100. Costco even has 4 or 5 available, and the price online includes shipping to your door. They have the Cuisinart tea maker one for about $100, which is a good price, and their return policy is WAY better than London Drugs, which is the other place I’ve seen it regularly.
Walmart has the Salton glass tea maker thingie with variable temps available locally to me for $70. But I’m not sure about the quality, so I might go check it out today and see how sturdy it feels.
This is one of the only black teas that I find myself craving! I just love it! I have a Bonavita variable temp kettle that was $60 from amazon, but has had to be replaced by them twice now! Everyone recommended their gooseneck option, but I got the cheaper short spout thinking it would be the same, but apparently quality control is lower on that model!
Oh yeah, Costco is always a good idea, and that seems to be a typical lifespan nowadays anyway. I’ve been wondering about Salton too. I hope whatever you choose will be a good one!
I have an Aroma from Walmart and love it. I used it side by side with a Cuisinart for a while and ended up picking the Aroma. The good thing about WM is you can always take things back when they break.
I don’t think Aroma is available here. But Wal-Mart and Costco seriously have the best return policies. And with Costco I could order it tonight and it could be delivered to my house on Saturday! :D
This tea is a favourite. I wish it was easier to get in Canadia!
HA. I am reviewing this tea over here because keychange did, and ALSO because this seems to be the full real tea name.
I just decided to make decaf because I was thinking it was SUPER LATE and time for me to switch and then I looked at the clock and it’s 6:10pm. FML. Granted, I did wake up just before 6am with a migraine (ugh) so maybe that’s just my body telling me I need more sleep.
Anyways. Sniffing the dry leaf it’s MAGICAL. Much strawberry. Very cream. Wow.
Steeped for 5 minutes (which is about my cut off for honeybush sorry instructions), it still smells strawberry, but hot it doesn’t taste it as much. I think this tea would be best left to cool for a bit but I’m impatient and adore milk in my tea, so I went ahead and added some.
I do really like this one. But. (omg I know) The strawberry isn’t in the front and centre of the sip. It’s more towards the end. So while it IS strawberry, it’s not STRAWBERRY AHHH as I was expecting from the smell.
Eh whatevs. I’d still totally buy more if I needed some strawberry tea. (Another really good strawberry honeybush is that one from TeaG, Smooth Strawberry Dream. But it’s strawberry and caramel.)
Nooo I hope you aren’t. I thought I was the other day too but miraculously woke up the next day feeling fine again.
My throat has been sore in one spot for the last 3 or so days, so I’m really not sure. Could just be general bodily grumpiness. :)
I sure hope so! Though I hope that’ll go away too. :)
