From 52teas

Here’s our premium black teas blended with real freeze-dried bananas, chopped walnuts and natural flavors. The banana is a bit strong on the nose, but the bread, walnuts and touch of butter are all there in the cup. This is an awesome tea, probably even better with a touch of cream and sugar. I’m looking forward to all of your reviews on Steepster.

This is up there on my ‘top 5’ 52teas list. Mostly because with milk and sugar this tastes exactly like the banana bread my mom made when I was little (that I asked for instead of a birthday cake one year, incidentally, because I loved it SO MUCH).

I’m rationing this one out, though, as this is not in the permanent collection (NOOOOOO!!!), AND I’m low in the funds department probably until the middle of the year (at least). But as soon as I get a regular paycheck and graduate, I will likely be going in for a full pound.

Nostalgia is a powerful, powerful thing.

OK… I’m having that second cup now.

I really like this. The banana is sweet, a subtle nutty flavor from the walnut, and a nice bakey taste to it too. Creamy smooth buttery finish. Yum yum yum yum yum!

Now, I’m off to write a review for the Tea Review Blog!

LiberTEAS

OK… so the 12 Days of Christmas box is just sitting here, and it keeps calling me.

I am so not good with waiting when I’ve got something like this so within reach. Especially when it comes to tea.

Frank… why you do this to me? Why?

TeaEqualsBliss

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Jillian

Doooo eeeet! You know you want to! ;P

LiberTEAS

Stop it Jillian… I already have my youngest daughter giving me “double dog dares” to start in on the box! I don’t need additional “encouragement.”

Jaime

LiberTEAS, stay strong! Mine is sitting on the counter underneath the tea cabinet, so the temptation is great!! We can stay strong until the 14th! Yes, we can!!

This is definitely one of Frank’s better blends. He seems to be kind of pro at breakfast/baked good black tea blends. :) I really am enjoying this tea. It definitely tastes like banana bread. I think as far as banana bread flavored teas, this one ranks higher than DavidsTea’s version that I enjoyed last year, but not quite as high as Butiki’s Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat. I think it’s because I like the banana flavor better in Butiki’s, but seeing that I don’t have any of that one, this one is hitting the spot! This bag probably won’t last long!! Yum!!

VariaTEA

I was very tempted by this blend. It sold out soo fast though. Oh well, I suppose it was not meant to be.

I’m a huge fan of banana bread with walnuts, so I was delighted to have got my little paws on the last of this. 1 teaspoon per 8 ounces, 3 minutes at 200 degrees in my Breville One-Touch.
The aroma of banana bread is filling my kitchen. Mouth. is. watering.
Steeps to a dark brown liquor that’s malty and astringent; perfect balance. It tastes very good without any additives, but when I added my usual bit of cream and brown sugar, wowzers. Like, woah… this is amazing. And as it cools down it impresses me even more; this must be good iced. I bet this would be a great selling permanent.

Southern Boy Teas

Three 100s in less than 24hours! This is making me unintentionally excited in ways I can’t mention here.

Southern Boy Teas

Did I really just post that?

Ashley Bain

These teas make me excited in ways I can’t mention here. I feel silly for posting 100 after 100 but, dang. Each new tea I try makes me exclaim, “OMG, omg!” out loud.

Southern Boy Teas

Remember that scene in “When Harry Met Sally”? She was drinking our tea. Little known fact. True story. Not really.

Made as a latte this morning… delicious!

Kristen

And my 12 Teas of Christmas came yesterday and I am struggling with waiting until the 14th! Must wait must wait!

LiberTEAS

It’s going to be a struggle for me as well! I will have double the struggle, because I am also involved in a 12 days of xmas art swap! But it will be fun!!!

Southern Boy Teas

Glad to hear people are receiving their samplers. Apart from the agonizing anticipation, what did you think of our little sampler as far as packaging and presentation, etc?

Kristen

It was very nicely done! Love the labels… brown packaging was good (except I can’t peek now :) And the packaging was nice. I am glad I sent one as a gift. They received it and are anxious to try it as well. They said the packaging smells so good. Overall A++ Now the 14th just has to hurry up and get here LOL

Jaime

Frank, you did a great job on presentation/packaging! It’s too cute!! I do have to ask, though, if there are new teas in there, will you be adding them to the database on their day or beforehand?

Southern Boy Teas

Well, there is just one new tea (the product description says this much, so I hope I’m not spoiling anything for anyone). The new one is for Christmas day, and it will be the Tea of the week the week after Christmas. I’ll probably get it posted on Steepster Christmas Day though.

Jaime

Obviously, I pay so much attention to product descriptions!! I’m blaming it on end-of-year insanity! ;-p

Wow I don’t know what I was thinking, but I wasn’t going to write a note because I thought this was too old to drink because it tasted like bread.

HURR HURR Hot Buttered Banana BREAD. Totally on it today.

The banana is not as strong as I’d like it to be, but for its age this is decent. The walnut is probably why I can’t taste the banana, I’m sure I can fix that with agave or something. Walnut always seems to take away sweetness for me…not fond of them in tea, or in general actually but they always make their way into baked goods, so I accept that.

I may have to add a bit more leaf too to make it taste more banana-y, but it does taste like toasty bread, so that’s good!

Invader Zim

You gave me the giggles!

Indigobloom

I found that my sample is losing the buttery banana note as well. But still, it’s a great tea!

Hesper June

Haha! sounds so much like something I would do;)

I don’t know why I ordered this. Seriously, one of my least favorite flavors in life is banana ‘flavor’. Don’t get me wrong, I love bananas, but banana ‘flavor’ is the worst, wait, no watermelon ‘flavor’ is the worst, but banana is close. And I haven’t had much luck with Frank’s teas. They always sound amazeballs, but rarely deliver for me.

But Frank’s email caught me at a low point during my diet and his description of buttered banana bread sounded so damn good and I was so damn hungry. I figured I could waste $9 in the tiny hope that this tea would deliver.

And maybe my diet has altered my tastebuds or made me desperate, but this is REALLY good. Not banana ‘flavor’ at all, just tastes like bananas and bread, ever so light cinnamon, and a light salty butter flavor. Seriously not sure i would change anything in this blend, well, maybe I’d figure out a way to add more butter, cause my god do I want butter :-)

I steeped it using my general 52teas method, which is overleafing and understeaping.
Suziqzer

I’m right there with you on banana flavor! Gag me! I have completely avoided anything banana in tea for fear that it would be artificial which Hubby and I both can’t stand. Watermelon I can handle, but banana, blech!

It was great to see your review on this as I never would have ventured into banana tea territory without having seen this note :) I might have to try this one.

Sipdown – actually it’s a sipdown from yesterday but the site was undergoing maintenance so I couldn’t log in. I hope Frank decides to re-blend this tea one of these days as I would totally buy another pouch or two.

I seem to be on a flavored kick. This is my ‘second breakfast’ tea.

I do get the banana and walnut flavors, and the smell is divine. It is probably sweetened slightly more than I normally do. The base is not as smooth as I usually like, but I think that adds to the walnut flavor. A good one! And I bought two pouches on a recent reblend. Yum!

" What about elevensies? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper?…"

SimplyJenW

By those last two (Dinner and Supper) I was so tealogged…. ;) But I did have some decent iced tea at Panera for my knitting group at Supper…..

QuiltGuppy

Nightcap?

teawing

Like the hobbits, I am a fan of second breakfast…

SimplyJenW

I am pretty certain I am at least 50% Hobbit. Most days I seem to need a snack every few hours…. Then there is the hairy feet… :D

teawing

Oh my, too much information! :)

ashmanra

We’re fans of second breakfast here, too! Usually a pot of tea each and either cheese cubes, sliced fruit and/or veggies, or both.

Jenn

I can’t wait for my 52teas orders to arrive already! This is one I ordered and I’m so excited to try it.
