Eggnog latte.

Finally, a tea win tonight.

YAY!

Preparation

Tamarindel

Glad you found a good one! It’s always frustrating when a cup is so bad you have to dump it.

This one smelled so good, but then I tasted it.

Oh. Licorice root.

Oh.

Sorry tea. The licorice root and the fact that you taste a little swampish means that you’re going to join the last tea in the sink, and I’m going to go hunt down yet something else to try. Thanks for sharing, MissB, but this one was a total miss. So sad, because it smells amazing.

Preparation

Memily

You and me both when it comes to that bloody root!

OMGsrsly

I drank all the Twinings Raspberry and Echinacea, but there was so little licorice root in it that the honey I added drowned it out. This tea? Sadly, not so much. :( Smelled so promising too.

Sipdown! Or rather, sink down.

Tried as an eggnog latte.

Bad. SO BAD. The tea is mega cinnamon, it’s super astringent, just. No.

Eggnog latte!!!

Yes, it was really nice. The caramel and oolong flavours go well with the rich milk and spices of the eggnog. Ha.

Guurl Greggnog Tea Latte.

Of course.

This one I was really hesitant about, but it’s actually really freaking good. Eggnog and earl grey, who woulda thought.

Preparation
195 °F / 90 °C 3 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 6 OZ / 177 ML
Marzipan

I really really want to try some of their teas.

OMGsrsly

They’re not bad, but this wasn’t really the earliest of earl greys. I think the name is a huge draw. :)

Yes! This flavour makes the best eggnog latte

OMGsrsly

It was DIVINE. :D I have a feeling I’ll go through the rest of that tea pretty quick now…

Shae

How do you make your eggnog lattes? I’ve seen so many people here talk about them but I don’t know the first place to begin. I would love to try it!

tigress_al

Shae— I am not sure how others do it, but here is my method. Heat up 1/2 of a mug of eggnog in a pot on the stove, whisking frequently to make foam (and to keep it from burning), but do not boil. At the same time, steep tea in half of the amount of water. Pour together into the mug!

OMGsrsly

I just make 1.5 cups of tea with the amount of tea leaves to make 2 cups, and add 1/2 cup of warmed eggnog. There are other ways, but my google-fu couldn’t find the DavidsTea recipe.

Shae

Thank you both! I’m definitely going to give this a try next time I see eggnog at the store.

OMGsrsly

:) I think you just need to find your preferred ratio. And I’m so happy, all my local shops have restocked eggnog! YAY!

I managed to snag a couple servings of this and an unopened (!) sample pack of the Li Shan Black while in Toronto at Sil’s.

So good. I’m having this one first as it’s open, and that bothers me… it’s a nice, delicate, sweet tea. I haven’t been drinking teas like this lately, so it’ll be interesting to see what I think of the other as well.

I’ll probably try the rest of this gong fu later today, just because I can.

TBH I kinda wish there was actually raspberry leaf in this tea.

Today I made it in a travel mug and I’ve brought it to work. It tastes a bit more like dirt, probably because of the echinacea root. And it’s sourer. More sour. Whatever. Probably due to the increased heat preservation of the travel mug VS a regular mug.

I still kinda like it. And I really hope I don’t get sick.

Indigobloom

keychange

I hope you don’t get sick either! and I know what you mean about increased heat preservation changing flavours. Weird how that works.

OMGsrsly

Thanks, Indigobloom!

And Keychange, I also think that a cold ceramic mug cools the water a lot more and faster than a vacuum sealed metal one.

keychange

Yeah exactly. And the heat retention affects the flavor, even after the tea in a steel mug has cooled…

OMGsrsly

Yup. :) In some ways I’m glad my steel mugs don’t fit my steeping baskets. Forces me to brew in a cup or a small tea pot before pouring my tea into the mug.
