From Lupicia

White tea from Fujian province is scented with succulent and sweet melons. Steep in boiling water to bring out the full melon flavor, or use a slightly cooler temperature to coax more mellow sweetness from the white tea. Ideal for a summer iced tea.

Swap Sample Sipdown! (38)

Another Lupicia sample from Kawaii433! Their Melon Oolong is one of my most beloved teas, so of course I had to try the white tea version.

The melon definitely works very well with this base as well. The white tea has nice creamy oat notes, and they meld with the melony goodness to form a sort of melon milkshake flavor.

Personally, I think I prefer the oolong version as it has a bit more juicy punch, and I don’t feel the need to stock both versions. But this is really tasty as well, and I’m very happy that I got to try it. Thank you, Kawaii! :)

Hi, this is the anti-cantaloupe girl. I couldn’t rate the Melon oolong because it tasted just like cantaloupe to me. I seriously do not like cantaloupe. I cringed thinking about trying this one, same name different type of tea. To my surprise, I liked this. It’s not too sweet like the Melon oolong and it’s not a cantaloupe flavor but more a honeydew flavor.

The white tea goes very well with the honeydew and there are no sugar crystals in it. This is a clear winner for those who love honeydew and not too shabby for those like me that just don’t like the overwhelming sweetness of a too ripe honeydew but don’t mind the general taste. The second steep there was a slight cantaloupe flavor that snuck in and I may drop down the temperature next time (bitterness in 2nd steep too).

If that makes any sense. ^^

Let me start of by saying that I generally dislike melon. I’ll eat it if it’s part of a dish or someone gives it to me, but not with relish or fervor(except fresh watermelon. Looooove watermelon!). Desserts that are flavoured like melon are even worse. Blech! I can’t stand it. Makes me wanna brush my teeth just to get the taste gone.
So when I heard about the melon teas at Lupicia, I was seriously not interested. A definite PASS for me.
But then I thought I’d better try it just to see what all the fuss is about. Cuz ya never know. YA NEVER KNOW!!! cuz it happens folks. Tea love strikes at the most random of times and you end up kicking yourself for not jumping on that wagon earlier. It’s so fresh and bright and happy tasting!
and now I’m all sad because isn’t this one discontinued???
It’s so incredibly tasty and I have no idea why, when I really should be disliking this cup. Does this apply to all melon teas? I swear I’ve had one before and it wasn’t like this. Or maybe it’s just this one cup, with these parameters? Or just the Lupicia version? I’m confused. Wouldn’t say that I’m annoyed, quite… ok yeah I would. Falling in love with a tea I can’t have has perturbed me. So there.

additional notes: Not only did I forget melons existed, as a fruit, I FORGOT I had this AMAZING tea! How could I do that?! What immortal tea magic is this?! Going for three steeps today. Also getting close to a sipdown on Harney’s Valentine’s!

MiepSteep

I could barely stand one steep when I drank this last XP

Either you must not like melon or my ancient sample of this tea was much more delicious!

Got this tea in a swap with Zach S. a couple weeks back. I figured since I loved Honeydew and Melon Oolong, I should try Melon White also. Just so I will have tried all of the melon type teas from Lupicia.
While Golden Honeydew and Melon Oolong taste pretty similar, this one is actually quite different.
The dry leaf smell smells a lot like Melon Oolong, which is nice.
But as for flavor, it doesn’t really taste like either of those other teas. :(
In fact, it tastes a lot like Republic of Tea’s Honeydew, that reminded me of cucumber water. xD Except this tea is a lot lighter and less sweet than RoT’s Honeydew. :S So yeah…not a huge fan of this one.
Glad I tried it though! Think I will be passing this one off to someone else. :S

Sipdown!

Ah, this is lovely. Light, fresh, juicy, melon & cucumber. Sweet smelling but less so on the palate. The finish is melon and cucumber, very light.

When I’m not up to my eyeballs in tea, I’ll have to place a Lupcia order. This is fantastic.

Sipdown (152/158)!

My cupboard has jumped up again, though thankfully not by too much. Today before leaving for work I received a few teas from Dexter in the mail as well as the SSTTB! So Dex’s teas inflated my numbers a little bit (they’re all very reasonable samples though, thankfully). And I’m really excited about the tea box! I’ve never participated in one before so this is definitely really exciting for me! And I definitely have a few ideas in mind of what I can add to it!

However back to this tea; the sample comes courtesy of VariaTEA (I’m 95% sure)! It smelled awesome and I flip flopped on how to prepare it but ultimately I settled on cold brewed for the convenience. I do not regret the choice! This was so strongly melon flavoured, though for me it was definitely in a more candy like way instead of a more natural one. But good quality candy; not artificial or chemical tasting or anything like that. In addition to the juicy melon notes it reminded me an awful lot of bubblegum slush puppies. And I mean “slush puppies” (like Slurpee…) because the bubble gum flavour in those was always a little different than actual bubble gum stuff. It was sweeter.

So definitely VERY good! I enjoyed having this at work today greatly because the store really heated up significantly while they were waxing the floors tonight. This was cool and thirst quenching. I’d absolutely drink it again!

Thank you jump62359 for sending this my way. I really love Lupicia’s melon flavor so I am enjoying this cup, however, I am not loving this base as much as some of the others. Weirdly I far prefer the oolong and the rooibos is delicious where as I find the white just a bit too present. Oh well. At least I have Golden Honeydew and Melon Oolong on the way in my joint Lupicia order with Sil and Cavocorax to keep me happy. Nonetheless, I am always happy to try something new.

Oh and this makes 1500 tasting notes :)

Congrats on 1500! :D
