From DAVIDsTEA

Just about every grandma has a secret recipe for special occasions. For David’s Bubbie, it’s baklava – studded with walnuts, almonds and pistachios and scented with honey and rose. And no family get-together is complete without it. This honey-scented oolong is an homage to that deliciously nutty treat. With candied fruit, nuts and spices, it’s rich enough to make any occasion feel special.

Price per 50g: $9.50

This tastes exactly like my Romanian grandmother’s (Buna’s) baklava that she made me a few times. I love love love the notes of nuttiness and baked bread. It is amazing how I can taste the cardamom and the cinnamon as well as the floral notes that are present. I do not believe it needs any sweetener but to each their own. I bought a half pound of this and am tempted to buy another half pound to have a whole pound e-e

Delicious. Spicy and nutty but not too sweet.

I would firstly like to mention, this is absolutely not a bad tea. But it hardly tastes like it’s name. It’s a very nutty tea, but if you happened to miss it forever nuts is a much better version of the same type of flavour in my opinion.
Overall, it’s an enjoyable cup of tea, and I will enjoy finishing my stash, but it’s nothing to write home about.
I tend not to sweeten my tea, but maybe some honey would amp up the “baklava” flavour – just an idea.

My sis was near a David’s and I got her to pick up a sample size of this for me! I really wish you could buy sample sizes online. Oh well! It helps keep me from buying more tea. I really don’t need more tea. Like, really really.

This tea smells like apple instant oatmeal with a heavy dose of cinnamon. Side note; my mom wanted me to name my daughter cinnamon. She totally didn’t get that it’s a stripper name. Back to the tea… it tastes like cinnamon, apples and almonds. I suppose I could imagine it as baklava, but it mostly tastes like oatmeal. It has a sweetness of it’s own, so I’m able to enjoy it without adding sugar. The mix is pretty heavy on the dried fruit, so for your money I think you are getting more trail mix than tea, but it is tasty. I like it, but I’m not going to run out and stock up either.

I had a relative who thought the name Rainbow Bright was perfect for my daughter. And she was serious.

Dustin

Ha! That is awesome! Was this relative an adult?
I actually have a friend who’s birth name was Rainbow, but she changed it long ago. Her mom was a hippie. Go figure, right?

Day 10/24 Advent Calendar ( I drank these in order, just catching up on notes)
I was a bit hesitant to drink this tea. Usually things that are supposed to taste like dessert end up tasting like a bitter and weak version of it.

Dry – Smells like bread, nutty sweet bread.

Steeped – Comes off a bit more sweet, cinnamon, honey, nuts. A pretty dark golden color.

Taste – I may have oversteeped a bit, so it was strong. I loved it though. I thought it had a very bready flavor. I couldn’t taste the apple but I got hints of honey and cinnamon and nuts. I didn’t think it tasted like baklava but it was delicious!

Definitely on my buy list.

Day 10 of the 24 Days of Tea calendar! I drank these in order, I swear. Just catching up with impression notes…

I’m not a fan of baklava. I’ll eat it if someone puts it in front of me, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy any. So again expectations were low with this one. I don’t like ginger (in it), I don’t like rose petals in my tea (in it), and I’m not a huge fan of baklava (inspiration for the tea). This isn’t exactly a recipe for success.

Smelled the tea in the tin and OH MY GOD HEAVEN. Not sure where exactly the “baklava” comes in, but JESUS MOTHER this smells good.

Made the tea. The smell of it was making my mouth water, it smelled so good while it was steeping. Wanted to try it so badly I burned my mouth on the first sip. Way to go, self. A bit more self-restraint for sip two, dontcha think?! Waited a bit for it to cool.

YUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. The taste still isn’t baklava to me. Sure, it’s a bit nutty, a bit rosy, and a lot spicy. Even though I think it missed the mark with the name of the tea, the tea itself is still THA-BOMBIZZLE.

Verdict: Will definitely buy before it’s discontinued.

I immediately picked up an apple scent when sniffing the dry leaves and while sipping. Flavour wise, it’s very weak. There are similar and better versions of this out there! ahem Forever Nuts

So I have to have a CT scan in the morning, which means clear liquid diet until about noon. But, tea counts so I’m not even dreading it anymore!

This was from the 24 days of tea calendar, and to,be honest I wasn’t looking forward to it because the reviews are so bad. Surprise. I loved it! 185 degrees, 5 minute steep, some sweetener and this is just a big cup of awesome. I don’t evn eat baklava but I’m considering ordering this.

Stephanie

You don’t eat baklava?!? Good luck in the morning, let us know how it goes!

mrmopar

Prayers that you scan goes well Marzi.

Roswell Strange

Echoing all of the above sentiments!

Nattie

Hope your scan went well! I loved this tea too

It smells amazing, and similar to Forever Nuts, so my hopes were very high while this tea was brewing. Unfortunately, the flavor when brewed wasn’t as strong as I had hoped, and while it was tasty, it just didn’t have the fullness that Forever nuts does. There are so many ingredients to this one that I really don’t taste, but the overall effect is nutty, smooth and hinted with chicory. Very pleasant and enjoyable, but disappointing from smell-to-taste.

One word for this tea…disappointing. While the name suggests it should smell and have similar taste qualities to baklava, I would have to say it is more like an apple crisp. It would have a higher rating if it had a name with apple in it. The 2 flavors I get the most of are cinnamon and apple. Never have I had a baklava with apple in it, so I feel a bit let down.

Flavors: Apple, Cinnamon

This was way overly cinnamony for me.
