Yo ho ho-conut

Hot buttered rum is so delicious we want it all day long. Unfortunately, most employers frown on workplace drunkenness, so we came up with this rich and creamy alternative. Toasted coconut and vanilla beans mingle with black tea in a caramelized caress of flavours. Decadent hot or iced, it also blends perfectly with dark rum, brown sugar and a dash of milk – so go ahead and indulge your inner pirate, off the clock. (MK Kosher)

Ingredients: Organic: Fair Trade Certified Black tea, coconut flakes, vanilla beans, cornflower petals. With organic and natural flavouring*.

I really want to like this tea. I mean, it’s great, the aroma’s an aphrodisiac, but the tea itself lacks body.

I tried brewing this tea in countless ways with no satisfactory result (other than the smell). I recently dropped in to DT to ask them if that’s normal and the wonderful employee said that he also has the same problem with the tea. Phew, so I’m not crazy. He said that Agave could help to bring out the flavor’s but I’ve already finished my 50g pack and won’t be trying it again so that’s that for this tea for me.

Weak flavor, amazing aroma. Use when bringing a girl with a delicate tongue home.

It smells delicious. Dry tea reminds me of cut grass for some reason (I don’t know either!). Once it’s brewed up, I found the taste to be kind of metallic, to be honest. The smell was SO nice, but even after adding sweetener, I was still meh.

Not liking this one, it must be the familiar smell of spiced rum. Smells great but buttery coconut rum tea is not my thing.

Finally, something new to try! This one was sooooo soothing – I can see why it’s a favourite! I seem to be on a vanilla kick lately and this was just the ticket for a Saturday afternoon. I added milk to make it nice and creamy and… mmm. Definitely need more of this one!

This tea is like heaven, with or with out the rum. Love it! It’s my new favorite. Even beats out Red Velvet Cake :)

A bit oily, but distinctive.

This tea reminds me of pirates. It does have a very distinct rum flavor. It isn’t so much to my taste as much as everyone else loves it. But, that is merely my taste buds. It looks lovely though. :)

I absolutely love this blend! It’s creamy and sweet, but not too sweet, like some other tea blends I’ve tried. Soo perfect for a rainy day when you make it hot, but I also strongly recommend making it iced! I wasn’t expecting it, but when this tea is iced, the sweet notes really come out. If you’re ever looking for a cold treat on a hot day…this is a great one.

’m not the perfect connoisseur for this tea, but I’ll do my best. I have never tasted rum (or buttered rum for that matter) but I have heard from reliable sources that this tea does indeed taste like rum. It is also the exact color of dark rum.

It is a very interesting tea, in the sense that there is coconut, yet no coconut taste? Nope, I don’t know where this coconut went.

Overall the tea is kind of bitter. I bought 50g of this tea several months ago, and there is still quite a bit left! I’ve become a bit bored of this of this tea, and I still have quite a bit left.

For all you iced tea lovers, I would imagine this would be good iced.
