From DAVIDsTEA

For almond lovers

It looks all normal when it’s loose. But steep it and you’ll see that it’s nuts. Within seconds, this tempting jumble of almond slices and chunks, apple bits and cinnamon bark starts turning a crazy shade of pink. Why? Because it contains a hint of beetroot. That’s what gives this rich almond tea its earthy depth and its all-natural signature colour. Deliciously nutty, decidedly addictive. Caffeine-free.

Ingredients: Apple, almonds, cinnamon, beetroot and artificial flavouring*.

This is a tea that I would never have picked up on my own. “Nut tea?” I would have said to myself, and walked right on by. But this was part of a freebie that Davids gave out on the birthday of the store I was in, and so I will be brave.
Its pink! The rumors are true! And its not just pink-ish. Its a fruit punch piece of glass. Almost neon. Beautiful.
And its so sweet. It smells like apple pie, and its got an insane taste of sugar to it, which might be the beet, and the nuts and the apple and the cinnamon are lovely.
Huh. Well, good one, Davids tea. I was not expecting this. I might actually restock this, once I’ve gone through the little bit I currently have.
Wowza.

Fjellrev

It was a total surprise for me too. But then again, this type of tea seems quite common. So many other vendors seem to carry almost the same thing.

I was going to have something else before bed tonight, but I’ve had a lot of rooibos teas lately and I really wasn’t in the mood for it tonight. Mmmmm, mini donuts! This tea is so reliably delicious, and perfect for nighttime.

I’m happy now.

I made a cup of this today and forgot, leaving it next to the computer. I came back an hour later and found it was half gone . . . my cat apparently loved it! And this one doesn’t even have catnip in it!

Faith

Hah! Too cute.

Forever nuts? Forever nursery school! As a night-time non-caffeinated tea, this succeeds. I am, however, wondering if I will ever again be able to love a tea that seems geared towards a two year old audience. The bright cheery cherry red color (from beetroot) does not transform the fact that the beverage tastes like very very weak hot apple cider.

I could not detect the nuts at all. I purchased this tea as an almond-lover, but the tea seems to be all apple with a dash of cinnamon. If there is a nut taste (and I’ve strained to detect one) it might be a touch of walnut.

The more I drink tea, the more I realize that I’m just not suited for those concoctions that really are not tea at all. If I must avoid caffeine, then these sweet little beverages will not make me happy. I’d rather drink water.

This tea does succeed as what it is—not an almond tea but a nice apple drink. It’s refreshingly free of rooibos.

I hope that my lowish rating does not prevent those who really would like this kind of drink from making a purchase at David’s Tea. When David gets with the caffeine, he does an exceptional job.

i’m so glad you tasted this. I wanted to order it but the shipping costs were too high so I found a tea that looked identical at TG, Roasted Almonds. It tasted like warm apple cider. You’ve just confirmed that they are probably the same tea. Thanks for saving me from making the same mistake 2×.

I agree w/u about the non-caffeinated beverages…although decaffeinated chais are OK as they are very flavorful…

Veri-Tea

Odd name for a tea…

Ricky

Forever nuts! Ahahaha, another great tea name!

sophistre

The Vanilla Comoro from Harney & Sons and the Siam from SerendipiTea are the only two uncaffeinated teas I’ve tried that I would consider restocking…I feel your pain! Sometimes I just roll with a mellow-brew white tea instead.

linnie

I am new to the world of tea. I must confess I loove Forever Nuts-pink color and all. I have a cup of it in the evening and treat is as dessert. It tastes decadent. It does not taste like watered down apple cider to me. I recommend it as a nice tasty treat.

Stephanie

Kristen: Thanks for the comparison! It’s really helpful to discover duplicate teas—because it saves $$!

In case anyone (Stephanie) want’s to try the TG Roasted Almond, I just posted it in the Take it Away discussion thread.

I love forever nuts too. It is the first tea I had at David’s tea.

For peeps who follow me, you’d figured I’ve tried this tea – Forever Nuts, a popular DT item. Okay, 3 months before I was moving out of Canada, I was trying to get a sample of this tea. 4-5 visits and they never had it in stock or it just ran out. I didn’t want to buy online in case I didn’t like it. My sister grabs me a sample from Victoria before visiting me, but said it was the dregs and not 20g worth. Sigh.

DRY: Nutty, very nutty. The roommates already think I’m weird and commented (yet again) why I’m drinking trail mix. For some reason my evening teas resemble trail mix.

STEEPED: Smells like apple pie with crust? Steeps up an interesting pretty opaque pink.

TASTE: Buttery at first tongue hit reminding me of pie crust. Then the sip finishing off a bright, brisk tart apple.

COMMENTS: My tea hating husband took a sip and said it tasted like weak cider. I would say that too if I could taste any spice. I would like this tea more if A. Stayed buttery tasting B. More spice to move towards apple cider C. Less tart D. all of the above, but then it would taste apple pie, yum!

Maybe I’ll try it with sugar next time.

Backlogging from yesterday. Had a sample of this at DT today (it was one of the teas of the day). Weirdest thing ever – it wasn’t pink! Like, not at ALL! I have no idea how that could have happened – when I steeped mine, it turned the water pink near-instantaneously.

Anyways, it was good. I still disagree with the naming of this one, but like it for the cinnamony flavour. I’ll really have to compare a bunch of cinnamony/appley teas one day…

SMELL:

That clip is from Kung Pow: Enter The Fist…which is a horrible stupid, yet funny parody movie from several years ago. DH and I have an ongoing joke that when people SCREAM or YELL something that’s totally random we always say “THAT’S A LOTTA NUTS”.

Anyhow…
I must say…the first taste was really REALLY weird and I didn’t really like the first sip experience.

I decided to try it again. It improved a little bit but, I, just like Doulton who sent this to me as well as previously reviewed, am having a hard time tasting the almonds. There is a it of nut taste but it seemed quite fake.

To be honest the fruity, tarty, Apple, Beetroot thing…confused the NUTS out of me!

The description says decidedly addictive…I disagree…

I’m enjoying in a bit more now than at first but I have to say I would never buy it. I, am, however REALLY excited I got to try it and log it tho! Thanks Doulton!!!

This is just very confusing because it smells like one tea and tastes like a completely different one…eeeeeh.

Rabs

ROFL! I love that clip! That’s been a movie that I’ve been meaning to see. I finally saw Kung Fu Hustle several months back and loved it. I shall add “THAT’S A LOTTA NUTS!” to my vocabulary :D

Kung Pow is one of those movies that I don’t want to admit to liking because it is sooooo stupid. But i do!

“I am a great magician. You’re clothes are red!”

Mandy Bee

I love this tea! Or… “tea”. I bought a big tin of this one though I can’t really start my day with it since it’s not caffeinated and I’m completely addicted to caffeine.

You know you live with a fellow tea addict when, after a lovely supper, he proposes over a shared pot of forever nuts. :-P Apt, as we are pretty crazy about each other, and about this tea. We have a set of shelves bursting with teas, and this is the one we go through with the most reliability. The nutty warmth is so nicely balanced by the apple and cinnamon. I am not a fan of teas with a ton of cinnamon, but this one hits the right balance. It is versatile enough that it makes a great iced tea too. This is one of my favourite teas to unwind with after a long day.

Trying to clean up some samples tonight. No idea who sent me this but thank you whoever it was!

Ok, I’m a hiker…..we call this trail mix not tea! I opened the baggie and literally ate half my sample…it was good. Why are we bothering steeping this? It’s TRAIL MIX!

Reluctantly I didn’t eat all of it and brewed the rest up. Turns a reddish color immediately that looks pretty cool. It smells like something out of a bakery…yumm!

Subtle flavors. I can taste the apple and a bit but I’m thinking it tastes like donuts or pastries or something. Strange….
I like it honestly (which surprises me since I thought I was making a mistake not just eating it all lol). Passing grade to you Mr. Trail mix!

Thanks Allie :)

There have been a few teas that I thought to try as trail mix…never made that leap…maybe next time it occurs to me I will try it!

I love what Demitri Martin says. “Hiking is just walking where it’s okay to pee.” LOL!

I always thought about eating it but for some reason that seemed blasphemous!

Mmm. I’m not super keen on rooibos, so I like finding herbals that make me happy. I think this is going to become a Winter seasonal staple. It smells like nutty cinnamon pastry happiness and tastles like apple crisp with almond crumb.

It starts almond-y and buttery, like a rich almond and butter crumb crisp topping. Then it finishes with tart apples, and is kind of a bright flavor. The only thing I’d change is more flavor. Even with the recommended leaf, it can taste a little watered down. I’ll try again with more leaf sometime and adjust the rating accordingly, but it stands here with the given parameters.

And they weren’t lying. It’s very pink.

i like the idea of this one, but not the practice, lol. i really tried though!!

moraiwe

It doesn’t taste at all like I expected it too, and is absolutely guilty of the DT tendency to over apple everything, but it’s pink so I can forgive a lot haha.

JustJames

red might do it for me, lol….the red mohawk predisposes me, but i find their apples weak =0( which makes me sad.
