Flavoured green tea isn’t really my cup of tea (hihi) but that’s OK. From the very first sip, a tangy sensation of ginger invades the taste buds. This spicy flavour is then counterbalanced by a sutble lemony freshness that lingers pleasantly in the aftertaste. A subtle fruity note completes the experience, adding a touch of sweetness without dominating the palate. It is particularly suited to those who enjoy spicy, lemony notes.

Dammann Frères Advent 2021 – Day 7

DF is nailing it with the passion fruit flavouring. It’s a nice mix of honey-like citrus and tropical fruit notes, with an increasingly zesty, warm ginger as the tea cools. As a huge fan of lime, ginger, and tropical fruits I approve. I’d love to pick up more of this to try as a cold brew. Or just drink it like this.

Passion fruit for the win!

Cameron B.

Love this one! The ginger and lime are so nice with the passion fruit.

Crowkettle

This and the Carcadet Passion Framboise are just wow on the passion fruit front. Didn’t know what I was missing!

Evol Ving Ness

Wait till you discover Noel a Pekin!

Crowkettle

….

I don’t think that’s part of this years advent… Brb.

Evol Ving Ness

No, I don’t think it is, but passionfruit.

Crowkettle

Yeah, I’ve composed a DF passion fruit shopping cart that I know is not going to be explored during the advent. Whoops.

Evol Ving Ness

It’s only three, right? Very reasonable.

Dammann Frères Advent Day 5 (5-February 2021)

We were both so excited about this, but the ginger ruins it. I wish it was just lime and passionfruit, because it would be amazing, but the ginger overpowers everything.

Advent 5.

Refreshing, exotic and spicy. Luscious, floral lime pierces through the woody, earthy ginger in a crisp, grassy base. In the second steep, the passionfruit really comes out. Instead of the high-pitched tang of the pulp, here it is fairly smooth. Usually I’m disappointed in passionfruit teas, but the execution of complementary flavors here allows it to shine. Overall, Miss Dammann reminds me somewhat of tom yum soup, something like Thai food aromatics.

I may have twitched with delight! :D

This is probably my FAVE from Dammann!

ashmanra

Oooooo, interesting. I have never heard of this one.

Advent day 5! Another very perfumey blend to my palate. I assumed it was another green earl gray, with perhaps some added lemon notes, because I’m not really picking up any of the notes described.

Fruity and with strong ginger flavor. Definitely getting the passion fruit. It’s nice. It’s a green tea so not something I would want stocked or reached for often but I certainly wouldn’t turn down a cup.

Morning refreshing tea?
Morning tea!

It is 8 am – so time for start the day. I need to study for Friday exam. So let me pick some green tea. I decided for this one, becasue it is actually last one I have not tried from the DF box. And butter salted caramel oolong is not what I want to drink in the morning.

I used about 90 °C water, added tea sachet and watched the leaves grow. As the sachet is quite big, they expanded to full lenght! They are usually torn into small pieces, not really whole leaves, but they are quite big.

I did not know what to expect, because it contains ginger bits, lime oil, passion fruit flavour. The tea has got nice yellow-green colour.

It smells very floral, with notes of passion fruits and citruses.

In taste it is actually very refreshing! with fruity notes of passion fruit, but ginger makes it not so sweet as one can expect. But it is not too spicy because of ginger. Probably my most favourite green tea I had from this box.

Sipped this while watching Bohemian Rhapsody. Such a good movie.

Really nice ginger tea. I put ginger in almost everything I cook, especially in my rice congee. It’s a subtle tea, very smooth. Floral but not too much. Citrusy but not too much. Balanced and the ginger is the star in this one. I was worried that some tasted Jasmine because I can enjoy a little of it but not a lot. No problem in that department. Lovely morning tea if you like Ginger.

Thank you Cameron B.!

I love this one, and I don’t even like ginger that much! I think it’s just a very good balance of passion fruit, lime, and ginger. I don’t remember the floral aspect, I guess I’ll have to try it to refresh my memory. ;)

Kawaii433

I tasted a little Jasmine but it was it was a very good balance. Not many flavored teas are this balanced (I say that with itty bitty experience though lol). Thank you for sharing it with me. It’s great that I got to try a few of Dammann Freres and good ones too!

Todd

Sounds good! Jasmine can certainly be overdone easily.

Kawaii433

@Todd I hope you like it when you try it as we did! :D (If you haven’t already hehe)

Dammann Frères Advent 2021 – Day 7
Where have I been these past 3 years??? Why have I been so slow to come to my senses? This tea has been my husband and daughter’s absolute favorite tea for several years now and I left it to them. They raved about it and converted my sister-in-law and one of our “bonus kids” (we have two extra children we picked up over the years and love as our own). And still, I ignored it. I completely forgot that I loved it last year. I kept thinking of it as “their tea” and my husband even stashed it in his tea drawer. I kept thinking it was mostly a ginger tea.

What was I thinking? This morning Miss Dammann was perfection. The combination of passion fruit, lemon, and ginger was beautiful and delicious. Dammann hit it out of the park on this one and clearly, I had missed the memo on this one until now.

The passion fruit is what won me over and the ginger only made it better. Even in the winter, it was a happy, “sunny” tea. The acidity of the lemon was a perfect complement to the fruitiness of the passion fruit and made it feel fresh.

I’m late to the party on this tea but I’m glad I gave it another chance. Now I get what the fuss is all about :) In fact, I’m trying to brew it a second time because one cup was not enough!

Now I feel like I need to place a big Dammann order…

EmmaM

You can’t beat their shipping prices! 15 euros for as many teas as you want… I’m already plotting a spring order :p

Crowkettle

Yay!

DF has definitely won me over with the price/tea quality & quantity.

ashmanra

Good to know!

ashmanra

I need to revisit Coquelicot Gourmand and a few others that I have not had in a while.

gmathis

I can’t pronounce Coquelicot, but I know I liked the little sample you shared a while back!

EmmaM

I adore Coquelicot Gourmand! So good!

Day 5 from the Dammann Freres Advent Calendar

When I saw it was a green tea I almost skipped it. I don’t like the grassy/vegatal flavor of green teas. But I had decided on Day One that I was going to try every tea in the calendar. No skipping. If I don ‘t like it, I don’t have to finish the cup. That’s fair, right?

Well, knock me over with a feather. I like it. Not enough to put it on an order, but it was very drinkable. Even pleasant. The lime is most prominent for me, followed by the ginger. The lime/ginger combo was great together. As the cup cooled the grassy flavor came out. I popped my mug in the microwave, but it was too late. The grassy flavor remained. The next time I have a green tea I will be sure to drink it right away instead of dawdling over the cup.
