Eggnog & Pralines

Another one Stephanie sent me from the Amoda box. I’ll be sending the rest back to her so it can truly be enjoyed. It’s not my favorite egg nog tea. I can never make green blends work for me quite often… And I hate it. It must be me. I wish I could have made it work. It was definitely an earthy and nutty tea though:)

Mmmm. Creamy vanilla nutty goodness. I don’t like eggnog, but I do like this tea. The vanilla and pecan are well balanced in the first steep. The nuttiness really takes center stage in the second steep (190F, untimed). Stacy, does this tea share a flavoring with the pistachio ice cream? The nutty aspect of this tea seems really similar to that one. More pecan than pistachio, but the same undertones. This is definitely a good winter tea!

EDIT: Reading other people’s notes, it seems that I’m the only one picking up vanilla here… maybe I’m confusing vanilla and eggnog?

The scent of this tea is quite nutty and slightly metallic from the green tea. I’m usually not crazy about nuts, but this one sounds yummy and I adore Butiki’s other eggnog tea.

Sipping… mmm.. this is creamy and nutty, but the green tea isn’t lost. It lends a sweet, grassy flavor to the background. I find that the nuts sort of take over the cup and don’t really let the eggnog flavor shine. That’s not to say that it’s not creamy, but it doesn’t have the same eggnog/vanilla flavor I found in the other eggnog tea. I could see myself buying more of this if it ever were for sale, but I would have to be in the mood for a nutty tea and that doesn’t seem to be the case most of the time. Still, it is very yummy and unique!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this tea. I’m not a huge fan of green teas, but I like eggnog and praline flavors and the dry leaves smell good. The tea itself doesn’t smell quite as good, since it has a strong vegetal note. The flavor is fresh and vegetal with a light pecan note. I tried added sweetener and that helped, and then decided to try adding milk like another reviewer did. Bingo! It created a creamy eggnog flavor and perfected the sweet praline finish. You can still taste the freshness of the green tea, but maybe with a lesser steeping time that taste wouldn’t be as noticeable. I doubt that I would order more of this one, and the fiancee is quietly sipping his cup without exclamations of “OMG this is amazing”, so we will just enjoy finishing off the rest of this little pouch. It is a unique tea, so I’m glad I got to try it and it does suit this time of the year perfectly!

-Dry blend has medium green and brown tea leaves and twigs with small orange safflower petals.
-Dry leaves smell like creamy eggnog and of roasted nuts. Tea liquor aroma is vegetal and nutty.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium bright yellow color.
-Fresh vegetal flavor and finish with a light pecan aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. A very unique cup. Vegetal flavor with a strong nuttiness. Milk and sweetener brings out a creamy eggnog and sweet praline flavor.

I love that Amoda and Butiki teamed up and created three unique flavors for Amoda Tea’s December box! I felt like a real gift arrived in my mailbox when I got the package. And I love that Amoda chose Butiki because let’s face it, Stacy rocks!

I love this combination of flavors. The green tea blend is sweet and melds beautifully with the flavors of eggnog – sweet and custard-y! – and the sweet, nutty flavors from the praline.

This smell of this is amazing! It smells like praline or pistachio. I can’t detect any eggnog, but it does have a creamy texture, so I can see how some might find it eggy. It doesn’t have the spiciness of eggnog though. It tastes very similar to Butiki’s pistachio ice cream, but the green tea base is less vegetal, so I prefer this one. I wish I could buy this when I run out!

Still liking this one today.. a favorite of the green variety so far for me. I had forgotten I had wanted to try this one with some milk or cream this time, but still good without. I think the flavors blend so well with the green that I don’t notice the base so much.

So tempted to go buy an ounce of this since it’s a green that I like. I’m hoping to slowly encourage my taste buds to be more fond of greens… but not sure if I like it “that” much.

I have enough for one more small cup, and if I haven’t decided by then, I will have to see if there is any left & decide from there. If I do grab an ounce, I might be tempted to try the nutmeg cream as well since I saw so many good reviews of it too.

Oh, boy. Another eggnog blend, when I haven’t tried enough of the stuff to properly remember for the life of me what it tastes like. All I remember as that the stuff usually makes me nauseous, so I usually avoid it around the holidays.

Brewed, this smells really lovely. I can pick up the praline right away.

Likely due to not remembering eggnog, the blend tastes like pralines and green tea to me; a light creamy, nutty green tea. The body of the green tea is about on the medium side, for me.

Without sugar and milk, the tea is pretty grassy. So I prefer both in this tea to enhance the blend.

Last day of Uni was yesterday. So I fully intend to laze around a bit drinking tea and messing around on Steam.

This is my first taste of Butiki Tea, as my Black Friday order just shipped yesterday.

Plain: First taste that hit me was actually the creaminess, followed by spice and nuts, then the green that lingers. It’s fairly light on the eggnog flavor, but given the amount of sheer over the top flavored teas I’ve been trying lately, that isn’t a bad thing. It’s very light and refreshing, tastes… I dunno, just clean somehow, thanks to the green, but still full of flavor. Alright Butiki, I think I’m going to love you.

I’m on a roll today! Apologies for all the tasting notes today and yesterday. I tend to work all the hours most people don’t, because I work in a restaurant and so our busiest times are evenings and weekends. That means my ‘weekend’ tends to come in the middle of the week, and since I haven’t had any plans this week I’ve just stayed at home and drank a lot of tea (which has been awesome).

This is one I could take or leave. The base is a blend, which is interesting, because even though I’m not a huge fan of green teas in general, my favourite is Mao Jian, which I can taste a lot of in the smooth, mellow butteriness of this tea. It does also have a Glenburn Estate green mixed in with it though, and I can detect some more savoury vegetal notes in here which I don’t like as much. I can taste some almost pecan-like nuttiness (though nothing like my beloved maple pecan oolong) and some hints of cream, but not enough that I would call this ‘eggnog and pralines’. I added a little brown rock sugar which does amp up the praline flavour and make it much more enjoyable, but still not something I’m sad to see gone. It’s not the kind of thing I crave regularly, and when I do, I have half an ounce of Spiced Nog which I prefer.
