It’s cookie time! It’s time that green tea gets to play along with vanilla, cookie-like flavors. Why should black tea have all the fun?

Tea of the Week for November 27, 2023!

My youngest has recently gotten into baking – so much so that they decided to bake a bunch of cookies as her white elephant gift this year! I love it – not only has it given them a hobby – but it also means that our house no shortage of sweet treats!

So, I’ve had a few sugar cookies over the last few months . . . more than a few, actually. This might explain my inspiration for this tea. And as I sit here, sipping this – it tastes like sugar cookies & green tea! YUM!

Organic Chinese green teas (Chun Mee & Gunpowder) blended with vanilla beans & colorful sprinkles (don’t worry, they’re vegan, gluten-free & allergen-friendly!) plus a touch of magical essence comes together to make this delightful tea. A perfect tea for the holiday season & well, anytime, really!

ingredients: green teas*, sprinkles (see website for complete list of ingredients), vanilla beans*, calendula petals* & all natural flavors*

denotes organic ingredients

to brew: shake pouch thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are incorporated. Use 3g of tea to 12oz very hot water (175°F), steep 2 minutes & strain.

serving suggestion: I haven’t tried this iced, but I LOVE it served hot with just a little bit of sugar. It’s good without sugar too, but the sugar pushes this over the edge into the sublime making it taste like a green tea sugar cookie – if there is such a thing!

2024 Sipdown Challenge | November | Cookie Monster’s Birthday: You know what to do!

Yeah, yeah, it’s not November 2, but who cares when the tea is so perfect for the prompt?!

After nearly a year of being very demure, very mindful when it comes to buying tea, my restraint has officially gone out the window! So now I’m cramming new teas into my tea cupboard and realizing I need a better storage solution.

As I was putting together my homemade advent for the swap, I had a lil brainstorm and decided to pull a bunch of seasonally appropriate teas from my stash, put them in a basket, and leave said basket out by my tea/coffee corner where I can’t miss it.

This approach is helping me (1) get into the seasonal/festive spirit, and (2) be intentional about sipping through my stash! Usually it’s out of sight, out of mind, and I have to go digging through my entire stash to find something that appeals in the moment, which means I often just default to the daily drinkers and old standbys. But now, I have a carefully curated basket of seasonally appropriate blends ready for me.

All to say that this tea made it into the holiday basket, and I finished it up yesterday evening. I never quite got a hit of that iconic buttery sugar cookie flavor when drinking it, but I enjoyed the playful sprinkles and the mild sweetness. And, yes, now I want real sugar cookies. :)

I feel like I have the opposite problem ha ha, I’m always targeting teas for sipdown and never drink my actual favorite standbys! XD

AJRimmer

Shoot, I think I sent you some of this one since you hadn’t left a review for it previously. Sorry for the accidental repeat!

Kelmishka

@Cameron B., that’s funny! Different strokes!
@AJRimmer, ha! No worries. It’s a very appropriate tea for the exchange!

I had to also update the storage for very same reason! Now I have a few wooden open-top chests (Uppdatera from IKEA); and it helps me having a few teas organised, but in front of my eyes!

Kelmishka

Oh, that’s a good storage method!

This didn’t taste like a lot warm. Cold with milk and sugar, it was somewhat cookie-like. Sugar cookies have never been my thing, but this definitely gets points for similarity! I do wish there were more spices or flavors going on, but that’s just the nature of sugar cookies. They’re sugar flavored.

Currently sipping this – and I love it!

My youngest has recently taken up baking – they are baking at least two or three times a week & cookies tend to be their favorite thing to bake. It’s their love for baking that inspired me to create this cookie inspired tea – because for many weeks, they went through several different recipes to find the right one. (And of course – we HAD to eat those cookies! haha)

This is my tea version of the goodness that has been coming out of the oven on a weekly basis: a blend of Chinese green teas with just the right touch of essence to taste like a freshly baked cookie (especially when the tea is warm!) Then I added some colorful sprinkles for a touch of whimsy. Yum!

PS: They have – I think – finally perfected the recipe – it’s now a browned butter sugar recipe that is SO much better than the average sugar cookie.
