P is for…Pink Lemonade

This is another tea shared with me by Sil! Thank you!

I had one sip of this and wasn’t loving it which I guess is a good thing because my nephew got ahold of it and drooled all over it. He seemed to be a fan and kept drinking so after he slobbered all over it, I tossed the rest. I have one more serving so hopefully I’ll get a better note then. Until then, I wasn’t a fan but my nephew was.

P (again) is for…Peach Ice Cream

I have been terrible at this so this alphabet is taking forever. And I decided to do an alphabet teas day today and technically already did P but then did O after and I was more excited about my P teas than the Q teas so I’m doing P again.

Part of the reason I was more excited about P teas is the new caffeine free teas Sil kindly shared with me. Thank you!! This is one of those teas and I don’t think it’s one I had before.

I was okay with it but it was more tart than I expected for something called peach ice cream. It was sort of peachy but mostly hibiscus. Nothing that said ice cream to me. Not a bad tea but not peach ice cream either.

Matcha Latte Sipdown (220)

Thank you Roswell Strange for the chance to try all the matchas at Three 6 Tea. They all had a distinct sweet taste and this was no exception. In fact it was the standard matcha with a Candy blueberry aftertaste. Not much pineapple or coconut. Nice but not special.

O is for…Orange Chocolate

Thank you for sharing Sil but this isn’t for me. There have been so many different teas with this flavour profile and it’s mostly been done better. I think the base teas just don’t suit this flavour profile as well as a black tea does. I mean I may be bias but this is a lot of orange and oolong and not enough chocolate. On the bright side the pu’erh isn’t super obvious.

P is for…Pancake Breakfast

Thank you Roswell Strange for the sub box that found this tea in my stash again!

I am sort of over pancake teas. Have been for a while. So I mostly wanted something that would pair alright with my caramel/gingerbread sweet cream in an iced latte. This fit the bill and also it meant I could use up a fair bit of leaf. At the end of the day though, the pancake is strong with this one and so I was sort of meh about the whole thing.

Also I know I’m at “O” but those teas were in a different room and I was too lazy to go get them.

N is for…Noble Patroness

This cup had more black tea than the last and it was a touch astringent. However, I did enjoy this one between the cranberry and vanilla notes. I would grab it again if I were ordering from Happy Turtle Teas.

Salted Caramel/Gingerbread Sweet Cream Latte (193)

M is for…Most Ardently

This made for a yummy latte with salted caramel/gingerbread sweet cream. Granted, it was slightly oily (from the chocolate I’m guessing), but I just kept a spoon in my cup and stirred it so I couldn’t see the oil. It also was mostly just a generically sweet which made for a good platform for the sweet cream but probably wouldn’t make for a very interesting plain tea.

Iced Matcha Sipdown (194)

M is for…Mojito Matcha

It’s matcha Monday and most Mondays I have been sharing my current read with my matcha pic. This week I’m reading It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey and in keeping with the summer vibes and the M tea plan, this matcha just screamed to me.

I was struggling a bit today and I accidentally poured brita water into the matcha shaker as opposed to the hot water. So I dumped it and started again. I also followed DAVIDsTEA’s recommendation and used 5 matcha spoons, which made this too sweet. It was good and had a nice mint component and the sweetness had some lime which was nice. Overall this is good but it’s not one I ever reached for since I usually prefer matcha lattes and this is not a latte friendly matcha.

Thank you Roswell Strange for sharing!!

Bio

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
