I needed caffeine but something diet friendly so I went to Starbucks with the intention of trying a Nitro Cold Brew with Salted Honey Foam (bold move since I don’t drink coffee but whatever). Alas, it was just a small on campus Starbucks that did not carry any nitro cold brew whatsoever so I resorted to a tea. A lot of their options are actually decaf so I went with the Iced Peach Green Tea for a small dose of caffeine. I noticed the calorie count on the iced tea was quite high however so I ordered it unsweetened after I realized that was due to Starbucks adding 4 pumps of cane sugar to their iced tea. That’s just unnecessary.
This tea is plenty sweet and a fair punch of peach. It’s downfall is the base coming through a bit too much and not being of the best quality. However, I have a tendency to blame oversteeping or steeping at too high a temperature since this is a touch bitter. I think Starbucks overloads their iced teas with sugar to compensate for not great brewing. That’s my theory and I am sticking to it.

This steeped for more than 10 minutes and made a pretty terrible time lapse video but is surprisingly not bitter. It’s not amazing either, but its a fairly solid floral silver needles tea. With that said, I should not it’s not actually a white tea, it’s a green. Slightly corn-like. It’s fine but its a typical blooming tea: more for looks than taste.
This does not taste like gummy bears. It doesn’t taste bad and it is fruity but it is definitely NOT gummy bears. I get a lot of leafy flavor from the raspberry leaf. It is more savory, for lack of a better word, than anticipated. It’s fine but nothing special.

This months Dollar Tea Club delivery was definitely not my favourite. It included Earl Grey and this tea, Licorice Roll. Both are flavours I really don’t care for but decided I should at least try them. The Earl Grey I was able to use up in one go for a latte but I made this as a plain tea and went into it planning to give the rest of the sample away. So, needless to say, my expectations weren’t high here.
I will say this is better than expected. It’s definitely licorice, which means it’s not for me, but it’s not overly sweet and the touch of base that comes through blends perfectly with the flavour. It’s smooth and nice. Even still, I won’t reach for it so the rest of this is off to Sil.
I started doing Jenny Craig again on Wednesday and while I am on top of things, the one exception I make is for teas. For instance, this tea has a lot of sugar and marshmallows in it so it’s maybe not the most diet friendly but at the end of the day, I doubt it’s doing that much harm so I’m just enjoying it. Plus, I have to have two servings of milk per day and a latte allows me to get that serving in. So I am just enjoying my teas as I always would while trying to make healthier food and exercise choices.
This is making for a nice treat. Lots of caramel notes from the rock sugar with marshmallow and distinctive sweet potato flavour. I’m happy that this is once again really enjoyable and the first latte wasn’t just new tea excitement that had me rating it so highly. Thank you again Roswell Strange for sharing this with me!
Oh geez, if I tried to account for tea in my diet I’d be ruined! As it is, my diabetes prevents me from drinking a bunch of things, so I have to BS myself into thinking that chocolate and caramel teas don’t contain sugar. I’m pretty sure there’s a reason I’ve always neglected to take my Blood Glucose after a session of Skele-Gro or Tiger Eye, and I don’t see that trend ending any time soon!
While I can’t speak for other companies, DT gets nutritional testing done from a third party company for all of the tea blends and IIRC even the blends with sprinkles, chocolate, marshmallows and what not tend to test pretttyyy low for sugar/calories (though obviously there are some). I don’t know if you want to open that can of worms Shanie O Maniac but you could probably look for the most comparable DT blend, using the NFTs on the website, if you were curious?

I used the whole sample for a latte and this is a whole lot of nope. Very nope. This is the harsh earl grey teas that make me think I hate bergamot. I’ve found some earl greys I like, most by 52 teas, but this is definitely not one of them. It’s smooth until nearing the end of the sip where it seems like someone rubbed bergamot scent oils on the sides of my tongue. It’s like something that should be sold at Saje and run through a diffuser as opposed to a beverage.
