Nope. I wanted to like it and it’s sorta strawberry and pineapple but it’s also a lot of base tea that is bitter and metallic. Thank you Roswell Strange for sharing but this was a no for me.

Sipdown (271)…sorta

I remember Roswell Strange really disliking this tea and then I checked the tea page and Sil rated it a 13 and started her note by calling it so gross. So I was really excited to try this…

It’s not good. They’re both right. It’s not. However, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Perhaps age has helped this because I’m getting a lot of orange and almond. It’s artificial tasting and not great but not terrible either.

Honestly, I thought it would be one sip and then a dump but I was able to finish the glass. Doesn’t mean I want to have it again though so this is going into the swap box.

Good bye Curly Lion! You served me well.

This is almost 3 years old so this good bye is due but with most of the teabento teas leaving my cupboard, another order may be in my future.

This is a good one. Chocolate notes and malt. This particular cup is a touch astringent but that’s not usually the case.

Made this as a tea lemonade and this is so much sweeter than I expected. A lot of ginger but just so. Much. Sweet.

At first I really didn’t like it but it did sort of grow on me. Then, as I kept drinking the sweet built and I disliked it again. So overall it’s alright. I have a small package of this left and I think I’ll try it hot and see how that is…

I think this is one of the last remaining samples shared with me by Evol Ving Ness.

This sample is like 3 years old. Plus I didn’t steep this as long as intended. As such it could be human error that is making this basically just a slightly nutty mediocre black tea. Still fun to try though so thank you, Evol Ving Ness!

At times this screamed butter toffee to me and at other times I just tasted the rooibos and I’m not really sure why it was there to begin with. So overall ok but not amazing.

I was drinking this while working and then ended up getting distracted and walked away from the mug. Then I tried to hurriedly drink it before dinner and noticed that it had an awesome sweet marshmallow and candy cane flavor. Fluffy, soft, and just really nice. I’d get it again.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
