173 Tasting Notes
I made this yesterday in a new strainer ball, not really thinking, just glad to have a new ball and try it out. Well, I should never have picked this tea! All the rooibos happily swam out through the mesh and the seam where the two halves of the ball are supposed to meet. That was a fun cup to drink *insert eye-roll here
Today I used my regular finum, making the tea double strength as I was hoping to add some milk to this. Come to find out (after I’ve finished brewing my tea of course) we are out of milk. While it is strong, it’s still very good. I like the heavier body to the brew. It’s got a plush feel to it.
The verdict? YUM
Preparation
I had this one to go as it’s one I’ve been meaning to try. While my hopes were at a medium-ish level for this I was still disappointed. It seemed rather weak to me. I really did not get a lot of chocolate, no heat, and just a muddy citrus flavor. The cup was drinkable in that “it’s freezing today so I really don’t care much as long as it is warm” kind of way.
However I had a great experience in store today which is always nice considering their reputation.
“I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.”
That’s the line I’m at in the Fault in Our Stars. I’ve decided that it would be a public service if I did not go to the theatre to see the movie version. Not sure if the general population could endure my sobbing.
This tea though, it’s wrapping me up in a delicious hug. Vanilla Orchid is my favorite out of the vanilla oolongs I’ve tried so far. I haven’t tried very many mind you, but I’m still enjoying this one for now :)
I would really like to go on vacation, but I also just want to sit at home and do nothing but read and internet. So I guess I’ll just have this tea instead! I just finished having a “Hobbit” marathon, which I never should have started considering how late it is…. or is it early now? Either way I’ve been up for waaaaaay too long and I have to work today too D’:
Sometimes I seriously question my life choices.
I still haven’t seen Winter Soldier yet (shame on me) but I figured I would have a cup or five of the Steve Rogers blend in honor of the movie anyway. I really want to love this blend, I do, but it’s just not winning me over. Maybe there’s too much/not enough of something? I think there’s a bit too much ginger… or not enough apple? Anyway, I brewed this double strength with a touch of sugar like someone here suggested and it was better than previous brews. I was just too lazy to get up and grab honey. Shame, because I really think a bit o honey would help this tea out a lot!
