drank Comforting Chai by Cuppa Geek
3003 tasting notes

Show of hands…how many of you have zoned out while pouring water for a green tea and realized after the cup was half full that the water shouldn’t have been boiling? (Please let there be somebody besides me!) If there is a method for un-pouring improperly temp’ed water, please let me know!

Ah, well.

Fortunately, Cuppa Geek’s Comforting Cup turned out to be a Very Forgiving Cup as well. The orange and chai spices covered for any bitterness I may have caused by my blunder. Marshmallow root is fast becoming one of my favorite tea ingredients as well; it gently blunts the sharp edges of spices and tart things. All in all, this is tasty and reminds be of a spicier, edgier counterpart to old faithful Constant Comment (my barometer for all teas orangey and spicy).

I have done it, noticing the second the water hit the leaves I had the wrong temp, and even then I knew it was too late and had to toss them, measure out fresh leaf, wait for the kettle to cool to the right temp, and re-brew.

Oh yeah, I’ve done that once or twice. Much stomping about and muttering of not so nice phrases might have followed. :)

I did this with a Liu An Gua Pian a few years ago, and having only a 10 g sample, I decided to drink the cup. It was surprisingly good. :)

Ya, in my case I was working on sipping down a 50g bag, so it didn’t feel like a huge loss. If I only had a 10g sample, I probably would’ve just swallowed my user error too.

I did this common user error several times. I think I always decided to drink it. I remember once it was really bad experience. But C’est La Vie.
