drank Ginger Lemon Green Tea by Kusmi Tea

Sipdown!

A steep of two minutes seems short enough to avoid most bitterness in this case. All the same, I was never fully satisfied with the amount of flavour I got out of this one (though I would like to try some from a fresh tin before I totally write it off). Unlikely to buy more of this, particularly as I’m not actually sure if there’s anywhere that stocks Kusmi in Halifax, but I did enjoy my last cup.

drank Black Cherry by DAVIDsTEA

This was one of the teas from the new collection that I was most excited to try, but I’m still kind of on the edge about it. The smell was good; it made me confident this was going to be a pretty safe bet. At first sip I like it. There’s cherry, similar to Cherry Blossom, which I really enjoy. Then the black tea base comes out and it really turns me off. I’m pretty sure it’s the same (if not, very similar to the) base used in Strawberry Fields, which I have never been fond of. It’s very astringent and just doesn’t mix with the cherry flavour well. Then the whole thing kind of comes together at the end and I find myself saying “okay, it kind of tastes like black cherry soda/Dr. Pepper”. Drinking a lot of this at once makes me want to dump it down the sink, sipping on it makes me think I can at least get through my cup. Either way, not a good buy.

Update: My bf tried some and noted it kind of tasted like gum, and he’s absolutely right!

drank Mango Fruit Punch by DAVIDsTEA

First taste of the new collection for me. It’s pretty good, mango with pineapple coming out towards the end of the sip, but I feel it’s pretty typical for a mango tea from DAVID’s. Given that it’s nothing special for me, I doubt I’ll be picking up any of this, but I enjoyed my cup.

drank Strawberry Colada by DAVIDsTEA

Cold brewed this today, but only for about 6 hours compared to my usual 8 hours or more. Found it more pleasant this way, as I have found this mix a little strong in the past. Prominent tart strawberry/pineapple taste with mango coming out at the middle/end of the sip. This blend doesn’t catch my attention as much as it did when it first came out, and I think I’ll lover the rating pretty significantly to reflect this. It’s still a good tea, but not one that I’ll really miss.

drank Ruby Red by DAVIDsTEA

Now that I have some of this at home I’ve been having some fun experimenting with it.

First, I mixed some of this (double strength) up with some ginger-ale and gin over ice. Excellent cocktail! Particularly if you’re not overly fond of the actual taste of alcohol.

Today, since I still have some lemonade left, I made a tea lemonade. About 1/2 tea, 1/4 ice, and 1/4 lemonade this time. Possibly a little tart, but it would be easy enough to add some sugar. If you like tart/citrus I’d definitely give this a go!

Yet another iced tea today. This is a pretty fruity mix. I predominantly get orange, followed by strawberry, and finishing on a lemon note. This is kind of like a mix between Sangria and Ruby Red, both of which I enjoy. This isn’t as tart as I expected, but was still a good cup. Not going to pick any up any time soon though.

Haven’t had this iced for a while so I gave it a go. DELICIOUS! A nice, creamy raspberry/blackberry gelato feel at first which progresses into a fresh, tart raspberry taste. Enough left for one more cup which I might have iced as well :)

drank Kiwi's Big Adventure by DAVIDsTEA

This as a tea lemonade—so good! This is a light tea, so the lemonade dominates, but there’s a nice subtle kiwi note in the background with just a hint of the green tea. In the future I’d be interested to try this with either pink lemonade or using frozen strawberries instead of ice just to really kick it up a notch, but as is looking like a summer fav.

drank Cranberry Pear by DAVIDsTEA

Decided to give this a go iced. BAD IDEA! Barely any flavour despite being generous with the leaf, it’s just way to light. This tasted like drinking melted ice with a hint of cranberry. Not good :/

drank Raspberry Mojito by DAVIDsTEA

This does indeed live up to its name. First there’s a pretty intense, tart raspberry flavour followed by a supporting note from the mint. My only complaint here is that this is a pretty juicy tea, whereas I more associate mojitos with a very light, not overpowering beverage. This might be ideal for making actual mojitos though, as it could stand to be watered down a bit. If so, I would recommend adding some lime as well.

Iced
