Finally a chance to have this relatively fresh, which was ruined slightly by having it slightly burnt. Ah well—time to buy my grandmother a variable temperature kettle!

What I remember most about this was being disappointed in the strength of the flavour. Well it seems that either it loses lots of flavour with age or my tastes have changed because this have quite enough flavour and was perfectly pleasant! The name says it all—ginger, lemon. It’s simple, but sometimes that’s what you want. I’ll boost my rating and try to burn any future cups.

Well the snow has finally come, so logically I wanted a light tea. I kind of wanted Cool Cactus but also wanted to try something new, and this seemed like a good compromise.

There’s a lot of flavours in this tea (dragon-fruit, eucalyptus) that I’ve never really had elsewhere so I can’t speak for how well it’s been done. Overall it’s green, light, and fruity. There’s a pretty strong honeydew aftertaste and a hint of pine. The (what I can only assume was) dragon-fruit tasted kind of similar to strawberries—a red fruit to be sure. I enjoyed it, but it’s not a reorder.

This is good, but nothing to knock your socks off. For a black tea, it’s impressively light. Sweet with that lovely bread and butter feeling and a hint of floral notes. There’s a slight astringency here; next time I might give it only 4-4.5 minutes. It reminds me of DAVIDs Nepal Black (which makes sense, as it is from Nepal) but, of the two, I prefer DAVIDs’. This would be a nice compromise if you’re debating between a black and a white tea, as it really is that light.

Well, this sure is different. I’ve never really had a smokey tea before, and boy, is this smokey! It starts off of a light orange note, and pretty much stays that way until you swallow. After that, it’s a delightful smokey intensity that reminds me of smoked bacon/cheddar. In fact, it’s oddly similar to eating a Starbucks double smoked bacon breakfast sandwich (which doesn’t sound that appealing as a tea, but it works!). My boyfriend really seemed to like it too (it’s hard to tell as he’ll say it’s good even if he doesn’t like it, but you can pretty much judge it by how much he drinks and I had to stop him from drinking all of this!).

Next one to try from my August Uncommon Tea order. This was the one from the fall/winter collection I was least interested in (because of the rooibos), but I had it tonight because with all the Christmas mayhem I haven’t had a chance to try anymore of my teas but it’s too late for any caffeine (especially since I was up all night after having two cups of black tea at 9pm).

Luckily this seems to be another rooibos I actually enjoy. It’s definitely not my favourite base, and I’m not 100% in love with the woodiness it adds, but it didn’t really detract from the other flavours. Speaking of, this tea tastes primarily of shortbread wile you’re drinking it, with a hint of creamy chocolate, but the after taste is pretty intensely chocolaty. It’s a fluffy chocolate note too, so I can see why they would describe it as chocolate mousse. How could any amount of rooibos ruin a tea that tastes like shortbread and chocolate mousse?

Merry Christmas everyone!

I’m super excited because my mom got me a bunch of teas from August Uncommon Tea for Christmas! I’ve been wanting to try these for a while. First to test is this one, because it just sounds so good! Not disappointed by this at all (which is good, because I don’t know what I would do with 100g of a tea I don’t like—it takes me a while to get through 100g of teas I love!). It tastes very similar to a Kinder Bueno chocolate bar, which creamy hazelnut and milk chocolate notes. I’m excited to give this another go, because I had it right after having some pretty intensely garlicky dip at a Christmas party (I was so eager to try the tea that I ended up bringing it with me XD ), which may have hindered the experience slightly, but so far, so good!

Flavors: Chocolate, Creamy, Hazelnut

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 7 g 17 OZ / 500 ML

OMG, a tea that is similar to Kinder Bueno? Drool.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

Thanks, you too!

drank Honey, I Dew by DAVIDsTEA

Day 15/24

I had this tea several times over the summer, both as to go cups from DAVIDs, and both times resulted in a sadly bitter brew (particularly the first time). However, I figured this could be remedied by making it up as a cold brew, so that’s exactly what I did!

The melon flavour in this is rather nice. There are some other fruit notes in this (peach, mango (?)) that blend into it well. It’s a nice, light tea that would be perfect for sipping outside on a summer day, as long as it’s brewed properly. I’ll boost my rating on this.

Sipdown! So happy to be under 50 teas now! If I can get through another dozen or so, buying more will be fair game :D

As for the tea, I think the fruit and caramel notes are more prominent than the last time I had this. The caramel is pretty heavy while drinking the tea (and it’s a nice, soft caramel that’s very to my liking), but it doesn’t linger much. The fruitiness, on the other hand, definitely lingers, and I’m getting a nice, sweet strawberry note on top of the more tart raspberry note this time—yummy! The green tea base was a little strong for my liking and the was the slightest hint of astringency (probably my own fault, I think I let this go for about a minute longer than I had planned). I still like the black version of this better, but this one has a lighter vibe that might make it win out in the spring/summer. Not to mention the strawberry is really coming out in the aftertaste and it’s kind of winning me over… Boosting it a few points!

Day 14/24

I was a little disappointed to see a rooibos today (though I knew this was coming eventually), but WOW, this is really good! For me it’s somewhere between a biscotti or a cranberry bliss bar from Starbucks. Prominent almond, cranberry, white chocolate, and vanilla notes wrapped up in a warm cup of delicious. You hardly notice the rooibos base (a plus for me). I’m kind of sad I used up the whole sample (I didn’t want a bunch of rooibos hanging around). It’s not a must have, but it’s a great holiday tea!

This seems to be a well liked rooibos on this website. I can totally see why, too.

Day 11/24 (More catching up)

I’ve had this tea before, so I decided to try it as a latte. A Baileys latte to be exact!

It was pretty good, but not amazing. It certainly tasted like a creamy hot chocolate but I also found that the stevia (why do you have to ruin tea with this monstrosity, DAVID’s?!) was really pronounced. If it wasn’t for that it probably would’ve been fantastic.

Fjellrev

Mmml, Baileys. :)

Kristal

mmmm sounds good!

Alyssa

Yum! Can someone petition davids to get the stuff out of their teas? It really isn’t good
