drank Bulgare by Dammann Frères
2201 tasting notes

When I opened today’s slot on the advent calendar, before I could see the name of the tea, I could see the orange wrapper and I knew I wouldn’t be drinking it. Rooibos! Blech.

It was a citrus rooibos, so I decided in its place I would drink a different citrusy Dammann tea, but I wanted one that was unlikely to show up in the calendar. That ruled out any of the “Nöel” teas, and also likely Gôut Russe Douchke, so I went with this one, which is blood orange, rose, and raspberry. Close enough!

This tea is very tasty, and I love how the way the orange, rose, and raspberry play together. I might say the raspberry is the most prominent note, but none of them really take over too much. It works.

awe poor rooibos…

Cameron B.

What a strange rooibos it was… Cola and citrus flavor?

Anlina

Oh wow this sounds amazing. Orange and raspberry is one of my favourite flavour combinations.

OMGsrsly

Uh oh. I think I sent you a rooibos or two. I’m sorry! :(

Dinosara

It’s totally fine, don’t worry about it! I have a friend at work that likes rooibos and I am happy to pass them along to her and spread the love. :)

Oh, phew. The ones from Janet are actually super mild wrt the woody flavour. Hope your friend likes them. :)

Bio

I am tea obsessed, with the stash to match. I tend to really enjoy green oolongs, Chinese blacks, and flavored teas with high quality bases, especially florals, bergamot-based teas, and chocolate teas.

In my free time I am a birder, baker, and music/movie/tv addict.

Here are my rating categories, FYI:
100-90: Mind-blowingly good, just right for my palate, and teas that just take me to a happy place.
89-86: I really really like these teas and will keep most of them in the permanent collection, but they’re not quite as spectacular as the top category
85-80: Pretty tasty teas that I enjoy well enough, but definitely won’t rebuy when I run out.
79-70: Teas that I would probably drink again, but only if there were no preferrable options.
69-50: Teas that I don’t really enjoy all that much and wouldn’t drink another cup of.
49 and below: Mega yuck. This tea is just disgusting to me.
Unrated: Usually I feel unqualified to rate these teas because they are types of teas that I tend to not like in general. Sometimes user error or tea brewed under poor conditions.
