drank Aztec Sweet Chili by Yogi Tea

From the HHTTB2

I actually had this tea last night. They have apparently changed the name from Mexican to Aztec Sweet Chili. My tea bag had the Mexican Sweet Chili label.

This herbal is odd. So very odd. The smell is strongly of licorice and fennel. The initial sip is watery followed by a lot of sweetness from the licorice with the spices – cinnamon, clove, and cardamom – kind of blending in. Right behind the sweetness is a savory punch from the fennel and anise, and then there is the heat from the ginger, pepper, and cayenne. This is all in one sip. The heat builds in the back of the throat with each sip which I liked, and the licorice coated my throat pretty well which made me think this might be good to keep on hand for sick days. It’s a crazy mix of flavors though, and nothing really blends. And I couldn’t get past thinking this is a strange tea.

Not a tea I would purchase, but it was fun to try. I will admit I was laughing while I drank it because it is so not in my wheelhouse.

What is HHTTB2? Sorry if that’s a stupid question. ;-)

It’s the Here’s Hoping Traveling Tea Box #2. I’m just to lazy to write that each time. :)

Thanks… it’s a bit cryptic… Lol

I reach for this tea when I’m feeling under the weather but not up for a pu-erh. Or rather, am lazy and only want to deal with tea bags.

This is very aggressively spiced, which I like. The spice is warming and bounces between ginger, pepper, and licorice. It finishes with a little sweetness and I find that the bottom of the cup is more sweet (and less enjoyable) that the beginning.

I went to the store looking specifically for a sleep blend. I picked a few up but chose this one as I love caramel. Unfortunately, I do not taste any caramel. But it does have a nice spicy yet sweet flavor and after one sip I felt relaxed. Time will tell if it helps my slumber.

drank Kava Stress Relief by Yogi Tea

I drank too much coffee (fell off the wagon again) so I made a cup of this to force myself to chill. It was delicious as always. I brewed it at a cooler temp, so the kava was very strong. My tongue tingled, and I felt verrrrrry relaxed.

Good stuff. The carob and hazelnut together are divine.

Decided to try this one again. I think as long as I only drink it once in a great while, it’s no worse than having a few beers. (Which again, I only do once in a great while.)

I really love the flavor. The hazelnut and carob are wonderful together. I adore hazelnut coffee, so it makes perfect sense that I enjoy this one. It’s like having dessert, without the calories and sugar.

Except that this drink does exactly the opposite of what hazelnut coffee does! I definitely feel drowsy, and my tongue tingled a little while I was drinking it, although I’ve been assured that that is normal while drinking kava. I’m definitely only going to drink this one before bed or when I know I don’t need to drive or be anywhere after.

This is easily the best-tasting tea from Yogi that I’ve ever tried. I’m glad I decided to give it another chance.

This stuff is delicious… Chocolate and spice and everything nice.

Except that apparently kava kava root can wreak complete and utter havoc on your liver.

I sure wish I’d read the label BEFORE I bought the whole box. I got a few sips into my first cup before I read someone’s review on this tea about how risky it is for your health, and had to dump the rest out. No clue what I’m going to do with the rest of the box.

Stress relief, my foot. Stress-INDUCING, more like. I’m surprised Yogi would even use an herb that has been banned in some countries because of the health risks associated with it.

When I’m looking for some immune support, I can slurp this stuff down like crazy. I probably wouldn’t seek it out for the taste alone, although it’s pleasant enough.

Yick. Yick. Yiiiiick.

I hate this stuff. I hate licorice and I hate teas that taste like they already have Dolores-Umbridge amounts of sugar in them without me adding any.

I’m just gonna toss the last bag of this vile stuff. Thank God it’s out of my life.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Licorice, Sweet

LOL back when I was first drinking larger amounts of tea and only had experience with bagged teas I liked this one. And I hate licorice! I’d probably feel differently now a days though.

Homework lost the battle tonight, due to stress. I’m gonna unwind with a cup of this stuff (I’m hoping it will counterbalance the near pound of cake frosting that I ate straight from the jar today… Oops) and just revisit the assignment tomorrow.

It’s sweet, it’s gentle, it’s warming… Just what I need.

The idea of a licorice tea has been buzzing around in my head for a while now, and I’ve been hesitant to try it because I despise licorice. But today I finally decided to try it. I think my sore throat, coupled with the fact that I’ve been reading up about how ridiculously beneficial to your health it is, pushed me to do it.

The dry bag smells like roots and earth- very similar to Yogi’s Detox blend, which contains dandelion root. No dandelion here, but I’m starting to think that maybe there’s a “rooty” smell.

Sipping… Actually, not bad. It tastes like the dandelion root too. The cinnamon and orange peel make it very sweet. It gives off a pleasant, warm aroma.

I think I can tolerate this for the sake of my health.

First time in forever spending the night with my cousins on a weekday, only becausE WE’RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND TOMORROW.

I didn’t bother bringing any teas with me to their house tonight or to last me during Disney all day tomorrow, so I’m left with my aunt’s very limited tea selection.

I am so out of practice with teabags okay. I remember the last time I had a teabag, I had no idea what to do. 5 minutes in boiling water seemed like a lot! Same with this tea. There’s a fairly strong aroma that comes out when I ripped the package open and I’m thinking a two second infusion would be sufficient. I’VE ONLY HAD LIKE 4 TEABAGS IN MY ENTIRE LIFE OKAY.

Umm this tea is okay? I’ve never had a full-leaf tea that tastes quite like this though. A good tea to drink if I have no other choice ahaha

(I’m sorry. I just really don’t like teabags okay. My roommates and close friends always make fun of me because I’m the sassiest tea drinker they know)

Backlog:

Wow … so a quick perusal of the tasting notes on this tea, and the reviews aren’t very positive. As for me … I actually liked it. I like chicory and chocolate together. The spices are warm and pleasant.

I do wish that it didn’t contain stevia. That’s a common complaint for me when I try teas with stevia in them … I wish that companies didn’t do this. I want to be able to choose to sweeten my tea or not to sweeten it … and I want to choose the type of sweetener I add if I do choose to sweeten it. I don’t usually sweeten my teas, but, if it’s a spiced blend like this I do like to add sweetener because I feel that sugar and spice belong together and it creates a harmonious taste. But, I don’t want stevia anywhere near it.

Anyway … I didn’t hate this. I would rather it be loose. I’d rather it not have stevia. But I still enjoyed it.

For a little while now there has been a box of tea sitting in our cupboard that I have been somewhat timid of trying. As it stared me down when I opened the cabinet doors this morning I decided it was time I tried it out. It is spicy and sweet! Such a weird sensation. I don’t mind the flavor but it isn’t something I could drink everyday. It has the same color as apple juice which really throws me off.

Update: Even though I don’t live with my parents anymore now I still find a box of this in their cupboard when I go home.

drank Raspberry Ginger by Yogi Tea
1737 tasting notes

This entry in the Yogi Ginger infusion series, Raspberry Ginger, is rather heavy on the hibiscus. In fact, the raspberry flavor is pretty much overwhelmed by the tart hibiscus. Ascorbic acid is also listed among the ingredients, which no doubt enhances the lip-puckering effect.

As a ginger brew, is this is a bit less appealing to me than Yogi Lemon Ginger. The ginger is there, augmented again by the black pepper (a favorite ingredient chez Yogi!), but I would say that the overall effect is at least as close to Raspberry Zinger as it is to Raspberry Ginger!

So I really need this tea tonight to relax. I’m listening to Yoga music, too tired to actually do Yoga tonight. Need to unwind, I had an incredibly exciting day today, and not much sleep last night. Last night I read until the wee hours of the morning.

I prefer the caramel Yogi Bedtime tea to the regular, it tastes better.

I just want to relax and fall to sleep.

I really like this tea. I haven’t written a tasting note in awhile. I’m having tofu miso soup, so I should be drinking oolong tea, oh well.

I’m on Spring Break!! Yay!! I’m going to Marietta on Wed- Friday morning with my dad.
I still have to study, and review and everything, but I’m much more stress relieved. I still don’t know my grades for Exam/Comp 2. My teacher left to visit family right after class, in a different city, and I think I will have to wait until the 17th.

If I were still married, the 17th would be my 14th anniversary. Yes, we got married on St Patrick’s Day (my idea, it was on a Friday during Spring break or something). I chose St Patrick’s Day because it is my favorite holiday, and reason to remember the actual wedding anniversary date. I will be in class on the 17th, so my mind will be distracted.

The ironic thing was my religion didn’t allow tea. Kudos if you know what I’m talking about. Now I’m a teafanatic. I love steepster.

blueberry, yes…..but i could swear there’s orange in here!

like something of a candied orange flavor, once you get past the idea that what you’re drinking is ‘blueberry’.

this is really yummy!

a great blueberry-tasting green tea. the hibiscus & rose hips are instrumental in giving this a fruity tartness (along with bilberry, a close relative of the blueberry), that is all-around pleasant. for some reason, i’m getting a subtle lemongrass note that gives this a slight citrus-y tang. with honey this is even better, though it’s just as delicious without.

i remember purchasing this way back in 2010 because it had ‘blueberry’ in the title & i decided to try my luck. it turned out to be delicious. it’s a pretty exact replication of the flavor it claims to be. Ah, Blueberry. it just agrees with me. and for that i am happy.

ETA: i recently repurchased a box of this in 2014- so the review is for that. tastes just as delicious now as it did then. well done, Yogi.
