drink drink drinking all the teas. I figure if i miss out on my goals, i should at least try to work on my oldest teas to try and get my cupboard back to being 6-8months old. I’m nearly there – only about 5 teas are older than that but the fact that they exist is enough for me to want to stop hoarding them :) so this one. still delicious and still worth drinking even this old.
i wanted delicious this afternoon and so i pulled this one out. I don’t know what else to say about this tea. I love that i can taste teh base while still getting to roll around in the flavours. happiness is this tea, back in my cupboard.
I have been dreaming about this tea. Cteresa and i swapped a year ago? And this has been on my wish list since then. I’ve searched for suppliers in the US and Canada to no avail and so when i had the chance to restock this one, 200g came home with me. For me, this is the perfect chocolate/hazelnut tea. You can still taste the base…the flavours are subdued but not so much that you can’t spot them instantly. I was terrified that i’d get this home and hate it…but i don’t. I love it. So thank you again Cteresa for sharing this one with me so long ago!
(on a side note for those looking for the o dor….they are apparently opening 4? more retailers in the US and are looking for this first in Canada. I had the opportunity to speak with one of their distributor folks at the launch of their tea in paris. She’s supposed to email me a list which i’ll share if she sends it along.)
They’re not sure yet. If she sends me the list, i’ll post it on the forums. We joked about ME doing it :)
they did but i don’t remember – but i’ll post the list if she sends it to me. If she doesn’t, i may email the store and ask the woman i spoke with to get the info for me if she can
I would personally like to see them open something in Nassau County or Queens. Much easier for me to get to than Manhattan.
They do. I just vastly prefer to be able to either GO to the store, or ship within North America. :)
That’s a relief, I’m looking at them next. I don’t see us going to Paris any time soon, since when we go overseas it’s always to Denmark.
sad sad sipdown for me. (127) I needed something to get me through having to go to the mall today so i packed this with me. Sooo good. I WILL be getting more of this..oh yes i will. thank you again cteresa
edit: resteep on this is pretty good too…i just couldn’t bear to let it go..
This was one of the fastest disappearing teas I ever bought, auto rebuy when I had the chance ( though next rebuy is looking more difficult).
And it seems to not be a fussy tea about how it gets brewed. I call it the golden retriever wolf!
ok seriously? SOOOO GOOOOOOO! i don’t have time to dig into this tea and get a proper tasting not but thank you so much Cteresa for this one. More to come later but this made my day SOOOOOO much better for being in it!
Yep…I totally didn’t even think of that….my bed is clearly calling to me. I really wish I could try more teas froth is company. I hate their website and the vague descriptions though…maybe I can save enough for a random weekend to France lol just cause
your random weekend in france? just for tea shopping? i think about it all the time. all. the. time.
(which bag will i take and how little can i pack. thus the more room for tea. etc etc) i’ll meet you there.
Shmiracles – uh a weekend…you only need a change of clothes, pack your carry on size suitcase into a bigger one…then you have two to fill and come back with
LOL, do let me know what you think – and funnily enough, do you know Thé-o-dor makes two black teas with chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla (though a lot more vanilla in the other one). Thé du Loup and Celebration, and they manage to be totally different, while both very good, black teas with chocolate and hazelnut.
sil, weekend tea shopping is sort of bad, because most stores are closed on sunday (Dammann at Place des Vosges is though). But maybe you could put all your tea shopping into saturday :)
About their site, it is horrible indeed, but there is a little trick, if you search for an ingredient or part of a tea´s name, there shows up a list with a short UP-TO-THE-POINT description which is priceless. I have tried to edit their tea entries right here on steepster to always include that ingredient list, but you know, people sometimes prefer the longer precious texts.
(i love this thread) (i love chocolate vanilla hazelnut teas and i love this thread) (see you all in paris)
cteresa…oh i ADORE this tea…it’s wonderful and amazing and so good and i MIGHT be slightly more in love with it than wedding imperial, but don’t tell the tea that! ;)
and drat it, meant Dammann is open on sundays, about only place I can think of (a very nice tip from ysaurella)
And no, I will not tell Wedding Imperial that, but I am of the same opinion as well – and wish i had celebration, so you could try it as well. Discussing those teas with another steepsterite, the description I could think of is Thé du Loup is Audrey Hepburn, Celebration is Sofia Loren – both awesome and beautiful and classy, just different styles.
cteresa – I have my hand on the button ready order directly from theodor…i was actually thinking of getting: the du loup; celebration; marabout and caramel…just need to decide if i want to just do it!
i also have a cart built from cadeaux deco vendomme with damman freres tea: puerh gourmand; fleurilege and caramel/toffee…
lol no….YYZ found them…posted about them for those advent calenders. well they also sell tea..and it seems to be 8 euro shipping..the only sad part? they don’t have charlotte au chocolate
but they DO have coquelicot gourmand. it tastes like jammie dodgers. i’m so totally placing an order. this is messed up. and awesome.
I went on a little day dream with this thread! Mouth watering non the less. Oh to be in Paris. I wish and hope one day. These teas sound amazing! Hazelnut anything count me in! Chocolate as well! Even better! And vanilla? Wow! Sold! I wish…
last tea of the day and a sample sipdown of that, from the lovely cteresa. Pretty sure i’d be willing to add this into my cupboard, even in a 100g quantity not because it’s the most amazing blow your socks out of the water rooibos, but because it’s lovely and pleasant and when i’ve been drinking it, i keep drinking it down without realising it. Quite pleasant on the whole, so thank you for sharing this one with me cteresa!
(on a cupboard note…added my yezi teas in today and i’m still officially under 150! – 140 to be exact… go me! Note that it’ll last long but hey, the longer the better haha)
Another tea from the lovely Cteresa I quite like this one, though i would be hard pressed to name all the fruit flavors in this blend! I mostly get a rooibos vanilla blend with a dash and splash of citrusy flavour. :) Overall i quite like this one, and have a feeling that I may search this one out in future, especially since i am in need of GOOD rooibos blends in my cupboard. Thanks again cteresa! I hope my teas arrive soon :(
Sipdown
Caramel, a simple name with one simple motive: to taste like those gooey pieces of caramel. It does just that. Yet another one that I am going to have to order one day from The O Dor… sigh.
At first sniff: It smelled like caramel, like cooking sugar with that buttery texture.
At first steep: I am so bummed this tea is gone. I added cream and sugar and it was just so delicious. It has pieces of caramel in it and it is milky, buttery and creamy. Yum yum yum.. there was a time where I drank this tea daily and went to Urban Tea Merchant before they switched suppliers and ordered as much as they had left. Hand over the little square wrapped caramels please :D
Preparation
There’s no better way to say I love you… marzipan and macaroons. Yum.
I will admit, this also was not one of my go to teas from The O Dor. I bought it because I am an ever romantic and love the name. However, that being said, I steeped this morning and I think my opinion has changed.
At first sniff: I smell coconut, marzipan and pistachio. It couldn’t get much closer to French macaroons.
At first steep: Again, echoing that I am trying to do the water temperatures and steep times, but I did increase this to 95C and 6.5 mins because I do appreciate my black tea base to be stronger. I must have enjoyed this though, because I gulped it down like it was going out of style. I probably have 6-7 cups of this left and then it’s gone, so we will see. Might have to re-review at another time.
Je t’aime!!!! (Sorry had to do that, you can’t help but feel romantic, or maybe that’s just me, seeing as I am a hopeless romantic… and Dawson’s Creek is on TV right now and taking me back to pre-teen school love.)
